If you're looking for more than just city sightseeing on your Taichung trip,

I highly recommend a day trip that lets you explore both Sun Moon Lake and Cingjing Farm.

When I was planning my Taichung trip, Sun Moon Lake was definitely on my must-visit list.

I debated whether to venture out on a self-guided journey using public transport,

or join a tour.

In the end, I decided to book a day tour through KKday!

On this tour, I had the incredible chance to:

1. Why I Chose a KKday Tour for My Taichung Day Trip

The tour I booked departed from Taichung,

took us to Sun Moon Lake and Cingjing Farm,

and then brought us back to Taichung, all in one day.

Since neither destination is directly accessible from downtown Taichung,

transportation was my biggest concern.

Visiting each location independently by public transport would have meant figuring out

separate timetables and complex routes.

So, I decided to go with a tour for peace of mind!

While searching for tours, I had a few specific requirements:

1. It had to depart from Taichung Station.

-Taichung Station and the High-Speed Rail (HSR) Taichung Station are quite far apart,

and since my accommodation was near Taichung Station, I specifically looked for tours starting there.

2. I preferred a small-group departure.

-I was a bit worried about getting left behind in a foreign country if I traveled by a large tour bus, so I looked for smaller groups. Haha.

3. Korean language support was a must.

-Since I don't speak English or Chinese,

I knew I'd need explanations in Korean.

4. The tour needed to offer flexible drop-off locations.

-I wanted to visit a night market that evening if time allowed,

so the option to be dropped off at Fengjia Night Market was perfect.

And the tour that ticked all these boxes?

Another key reason I opted for this tour was its relatively

small-group format.

When I went, there were only six of us in total, traveling comfortably in a minivan.

As a solo traveler, this felt less daunting, and the pickup location near Taichung Station made it super convenient.

The flexibility to book even the day before departure was another major plus for me.

What's more, even though I was traveling solo,

it felt like they grouped Korean speakers together, which was a pleasant surprise!

2. Taichung Sun Moon Lake & Cingjing Farm Tour Itinerary

The itinerary for the tour I took was as follows:

We spent about 2 hours and 30 minutes touring Sun Moon Lake,

and it included a cruise ride.

At Cingjing Farm, we had about 2 hours and 30 minutes

to explore freely.

After the tour, you could choose your drop-off location

near Taichung Station or Fengjia Night Market.

I chose Fengjia Night Market because I was planning to go there in the evening,

which made for a smooth transition to my next activity.

However, please note that the times and drop-off locations mentioned above were for my trip,

so make sure to check the latest tour information when booking.

3. Sun Moon Lake & Cingjing Farm Day Tour Itinerary

1. Sun Moon Lake

The place I was most excited about during my Taichung trip

was Sun Moon Lake.

Sun Moon Lake is one of Taiwan's representative lake tourist destinations,

located about a 1.5-hour drive

from downtown Taichung.

I had already seen many photos and videos,

but seeing the lake and its surrounding scenery in person was just breathtaking!

I came with high expectations,

and it exceeded them.

The weather was perfect too, making my time exploring Sun Moon Lake

pure relaxation.

Sun Moon Lake Course

We took a cruise from the Sun Moon Lake parking lot

to Xuanzang Temple.

After about a 5-minute walk uphill, we reached a spot

where we could enjoy the panoramic view.

The incline wasn't too steep, and the surrounding scenery was beautiful,

making it perfect for a leisurely stroll.

Before heading up, I tried the locally famous

eggs.

They were savory and affordable,

making them a great light snack.

Arriving at the viewpoint,

the lake scenery unfolding before my eyes was incredibly refreshing and breathtaking!

After exploring Xuanguang Temple,

we boarded the cruise ship again

and headed over to Itathao Market.

The market was incredibly diverse, featuring everything from shops selling black tea

to street food vendors and souvenir stalls.

Our guide recommended some excellent local places to try,

and we even got to sample street food as we walked around.

It was perfect for exploring the market, grabbing some quick bites,

and browsing for souvenirs during our free time.

If you're looking for lunch, this is a great spot!

2. Cingjing Farm

After our sightseeing at Sun Moon Lake, we made our way to Cingjing Farm.

Cingjing Farm is a high-altitude tourist destination situated at an elevation of approximately 1,700m (5,577 ft),

offering a natural landscape completely different from what you'd find in downtown Taichung.

While the air in downtown Taichung felt a bit stuffy due to the many motorcycles,

arriving at Cingjing Farm, the expansive views made me feel like I could breathe freely!

Since I visited in winter,

the meadows weren't quite as vibrantly green.

Even so, just walking and gazing at the vast mountains and grasslands was incredibly rewarding.

The colors and scenery of the meadows can change with the seasons,

so it's a great idea to plan your trip considering the unique atmosphere each time of year offers.

One of the most memorable experiences at Cingjing Farm was

feeding the sheep.

There were vending machines conveniently located everywhere where you could buy feed,

so we could purchase it ourselves and give it directly to the sheep.

However, the moment I held the feed, the sheep all swarmed over at once!

It was a little surprising, but it was so much fun to see them up close.

It felt a bit like the deer feeding experience

in Nara, Japan!

If you're traveling to Taichung with kids,

the sheep feeding experience will surely become an even more special memory

for everyone.

At Qingjing Farm, you can not only enjoy the sheep experience but also

watch a horse show.

While the show wasn't huge,

it was pleasant to watch, and

we even got to see some simple performances.

I recommend keeping your expectations in check!!

After exploring the meadows, the sheep feeding experience, and the show,

we headed back to Taichung by tour vehicle.

I got off near Fengjia Night Market and

explored the market.

3. Taichung Sun Moon Lake & Qingjing Farm Tour Review

The KKday Sun Moon Lake and Qingjing Farm tour I took this time is

perfect for anyone planning a trip to the Taichung outskirts who might be

worried about transportation or wants to visit both places.

If you were to visit these two spots individually by public transport,

you'd have to figure out the routes and timings on your own.

But with the tour, everything from pickup to transportation between attractions

was smoothly handled!

It was also wonderful that our guide used a translator to

explain the region and attractions.

Rather than just seeing the sights, we got to experience the local stories, making the journey much richer.

I'd highly recommend this tour if you're traveling solo in Taichung and want to explore the surrounding areas,

or if you're traveling with kids and

prefer hassle-free transportation.
