Hey there, Global Explorers! 🥰
In my last post, I shared how my high school friends and I made the most of our Shinhan SOL Travel check card at the airport lounge before our exciting Taichung trip. Today, I'm diving into the nitty-gritty of our Taiwan adventure preparations: securing our T'way Air tickets and giving you an honest review of our fantastic budget-friendly hotel near Taichung Station, the 'Chance Hotel,' where we comfortably stayed for 3 nights.
If you're currently scouring for Taichung accommodations, especially thinking, "Where can I find a hotel with an amazing location and a reasonable price tag?" then this post is going to be incredibly helpful. 😊
✈️ Snagging Our Taiwan Flights on T'way Air's Official Website!
When planning any international trip, the first thing that gets your fingers flying is searching for flights! My trio of friends and I scoured everything from Skyscanner to various travel agency sites.
The verdict? At the time of our trip, booking directly on T'way Air's official website was the most economical!
Initially, some travel agency sites seemed a few dollars cheaper, but by the time you reached the payment stage, they'd often add specific card discount conditions or surprise baggage fees. T'way Air's official site, on the other hand, had transparent and clear pricing, making the booking process stress-free!
(Of course, flight prices fluctuate in real-time, so I always recommend thoroughly comparing various sites!)
Here's a little bonus tip! About a day before our departure, T'way Air sent us a mobile check-in notification.
This meant we didn't have to endure long queues at the check-in counter at the airport. Instead, we could confirm our seats and get our boarding passes issued from home!
It saved us so much time at the bustling Incheon Airport, allowing us to focus solely on security checks and immigration, making for a super smooth start to our trip. 👍
(Note: Mobile check-in routes and methods can change depending on the card company or airline, so it's smart to double-check their official website before you fly!)
🏨 Our Top Pick: Chance Hotel Near Taichung Station
📍 Chance Hotel
No. 163號, Jianguo Rd, Lüchuan Village, Central District, Taichung City, Taiwan 400

Alright, flights sorted, now for the accommodation! When planning our Taichung adventure, our hotel criteria were crystal clear, just three points:
✔ Must be near Taichung Station (a lifeline for walk-friendly travelers)
✔ Must be affordable (best value for money)
✔ Must be comfortable and safe for three women travelers
After countless hours of poring over Google reviews and blog posts until my eyes blurred, our final choice was the [Chance Hotel (巧合大飯店)].
Spoiler alert: for my friends and me, it was 'a satisfying place where the location alone made up for everything else!'
📍 Chance Hotel: Why its location was absolutely unbeatable!

Chance Hotel's biggest selling point is undoubtedly its 'location.' It's incredibly close to Taichung Station, making it super convenient even when lugging heavy suitcases. Access to buses and taxis was also excellent.
More importantly, our itinerary was packed from morning till late night, exploring every corner of the city. Having most local restaurants, charming cafes, and convenience stores within walking distance was incredibly convenient.
We genuinely enjoyed walking around, chatting, and trying delicious food throughout our trip. For walk-friendly travelers, this hotel's location is a definite five-star win! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🛏️ So, what about the room condition? (My honest take!)

Honestly, the rooms are by no means grand or luxurious like a 5-star hotel. (It's quite modest, to be frank!)
However, everything was kept spotlessly clean daily, and the bedding was fresh and comfortable enough to unwind after a long day. Since our main goal was sightseeing and food tours rather than a resort-style staycation, we didn't experience any significant discomfort during our stay.
It was perfectly sufficient for grabbing some beers and Lay's chips from the convenience store, chatting with friends on the bed, and getting a good night's sleep!
If you're expecting a palatial, luxurious hotel or a staycation with a swimming pool, you might be disappointed. But if you're someone who prioritizes 'location and value above all else!' then this place will absolutely exceed your expectations.
🍞 Honest Review of Breakfast and Service

During my visit, a simple breakfast was provided, perfect for a light morning meal.
While not extravagant, it was great for getting some protein from eggs and enjoying a cup of coffee!
However, I've recently seen reviews from guests who stayed in late 2025 or early 2026 suggesting that the breakfast service might have changed or been discontinued. 😮
If breakfast is a must-have for you, I highly recommend checking the latest information before booking!
I also read some reviews from 'highly sensitive' travelers mentioning that 'the front desk staff's English might be limited and they weren't overly friendly,' which made me a little nervous beforehand. But, honestly, I personally didn't experience any issues!
You see, I've (somewhat) honed my very basic survival Mandarin over the years. 😎
When checking in, I confidently threw out a few Chinese phrases and a 'Ni hao~,' and the staff responded with pleasant smiles, never giving me the impression of being unfriendly.
Of course, my travel excitement filter might have made the world seem a bit more beautiful, and everyone's experiences can differ, so please take this as a light reference! 😉
⭐ My Chance Hotel Honest Rating Summary!
To sum it up: "A hero hotel where the location makes up for everything else." If you're looking for a comfortable place to stay near Taichung Station or a great value-for-money hotel in Taichung, this is definitely a recommended option!
