During my recent 3-night, 4-day trip to Taichung, I actually had a bit of a struggle with my accommodation choices.
Initially, I booked a hotel near Fengjia Night Market, planning to stay for three nights. However, I ended up checking out after just one night.
The condition of the first hotel was simply not up to par, and I didn't want to start my vacation feeling stressed. So, I quickly relocated to a hotel near Taichung Station.
Having now stayed at both a hotel near Fengjia Night Market and one near Taichung Station,
I can definitively say that each location has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages.

For this trip, I personally experienced stays near both Fengjia Night Market and Taichung Station.
My Disappointing Experience: A Hotel Near Fengjia Night Market
The first accommodation I booked was Check Inn Express Fengjia.
At around ~$28 per night, it seemed like a budget-friendly option, so I booked it expecting good value.
Its proximity to Fengjia Night Market, allowing for easy walking access, meant the location itself wasn't bad.
However, as soon as I stepped into the room, I realized the condition was far worse than I had anticipated.
✔️ Stains on the carpet
✔️ Old furniture with peeling surfaces
✔️ Dirty bathroom tiles and grout
✔️ Dust on windows and in corners
Overall, it felt poorly maintained.
I'd heard that Taiwan can have a lot of insects, and this room gave me a constant uneasy feeling that bugs might appear, making me nervously glance around.
Ultimately, despite booking for three nights, I checked out after just one.

After checking out of the Fengjia hotel, I urgently booked Green Hotel Midori.
The result? I was significantly more satisfied.

I especially loved the low-level table near the window, perfect for enjoying snacks while gazing outside.
Thoughtful amenities like deodorant and a tabletop mirror were provided, giving a strong impression that guest comfort was a priority.
Its location near Taichung Station also made bus travel and getting to various attractions much more convenient.
