Today, I'm sharing our journey to the Taean World Tulip Expo and

the stunning sea caves at Padori Beach,

where you can snap the ultimate "insta-worthy" photos!

This is a perfect 2D1N family trip itinerary to Chungcheong-do,

which I enjoyed with my grandparents.

Here is our 2-day Taean itinerary,

along with some of my personal travel memories!

Day.1

Should we go or not? We debated visiting Padori Beach until the very last minute! ⛱️

I thought there wouldn't be much to see other than the sea caves, but...

Since we started our day early, we had just enough time

to squeeze in Padori Beach before our lunch reservation. It was the perfect decision!

Just looking out at the beautiful sea was wonderful in itself,

and although negotiating the path to the sea caves was a bit risky

for my grandparents, we managed to capture some absolutely legendary photos there!

Surprisingly, even though it was the place I expected the least from,

my grandparents and parents all agreed after the trip

that this spot was their absolute favorite and the most memorable!

So, I highly recommend adding this to your Taean travel itinerary.

When you think of local delicacies in Taean, Gegukji (crab and cabbage stew) is the ultimate must-try, right?

Honestly, despite visiting Taean so many times over the years,

I had never actually tried authentic Gegukji before.

This trip was the perfect opportunity to finally taste it,

and wow, the crabs in the stew were incredibly meaty!

But what absolutely blew us away was the soy marinated crab (ganjang-gejang) and shrimp (saeu-jang)—they were insanely delicious!

After a satisfying lunch, we stopped by the nearby Hanaro Mart Anmyeondo Nonghyup Main Branch

to stock up on supplies for our stay.

The shelves were absolutely packed with delicious foods.

Since Taean is a popular vacation destination,

the meat and beverage sections were incredibly well-stocked with tons of variety. We were super impressed!

Our next stop was specially planned for my flower-loving grandmother:

the spectacular Taean World Tulip Expo!

To be completely honest, the admission fee felt a little on the pricey side, so...

If possible, I highly recommend checking out some real-time, live bloom updates before you go!

Since this trip was to celebrate my maternal grandmother's birthday,

we couldn't push back the dates,

but if you visit when the flowers are in full bloom, it will be worth every single penny.

During our last trip to Damyang, I felt a bit bad because

I had only taken my paternal grandmother to a nice place.

So, I was thrilled to get a wonderful opportunity this time

to stay at a gorgeous property called Pearl Bay Pool Villa.

The villa provided a delicious "Hangari" (traditional clay pot) BBQ,

so we feasted on plenty of meat!

Since we were in Taean by the coast, and my maternal grandfather loves sashimi (raw fish),

we used some pocket money from my aunts to get fresh sashimi near the villa,

and it was absolutely delicious! 💙

And I even snapped a legendary, once-in-a-lifetime photo of my mom! 💙

Room 2, which I booked at Pearl Bay, features a private outdoor bath. In the evening, the whole family sat in the warm water under a starry sky just chatting away. Out of everything we did today, my grandparents looked the happiest during this moment! 💙

To be honest, seeing how exhausted my grandmother was at first made me worry that the trip was ruined,

so this was such a relief! 💙

Day.2

In the morning, before checking out,

there were so many lovely photo spots in front of the villa,

so I took plenty of photos for my grandparents.

For breakfast, we went for a simple bowl of Kalguksu (knife-cut noodles),

and it was so hearty and delicious. Overall, it felt like a highly successful trip!

Our 2-Day, 1-Night Taean Trip Review ⛱️

Right before our planned trip to Busan, my grandmother suddenly fell quite ill. Once she recovered a bit, we decided to switch the destination to Taean—a closer option that wouldn't be too physically demanding—to celebrate her birthday.

That's why we chose Taean,

and we deliberately kept the itinerary very relaxed just in case.

Even so, Grandma found it quite exhausting...

In fact, even my grandfather, who is usually very healthy, seemed pretty tired.

It suddenly hit me how much they have aged

alongside my own growing up...

After returning, Grandma said she is too tired to ever go on an overnight trip again...

(But she must have had a great time, because she immediately followed up by saying she'd go again next time! haha)

Long story short, here is the takeaway:

If your loved ones are in their late 80s, even this relaxed itinerary might be a bit too much for them. 🤣

If you are traveling with elderly family members,

I highly recommend visiting just one main attraction a day. 💙

+ Make sure to travel with your grandparents while they are still a little "younger" (?) and active!
