Cheollipo Arboretum Taean Admission 2026: Discounts & Visitor Guide

Sometimes, my work takes me to Taean,

and since I always go alone, I'd often miss out on famous dishes like Ganjang Gejang (marinated crab) set meals,

and just head straight back.

But driving four hours one way,

I really wanted to see at least one place,

so this time, I decided to stop by Cheollipo Arboretum.

From how to get a discount on admission,

to parking, and my actual review after exploring,

I'll briefly summarize it all for you :)

Cheollipo Arboretum Operating Hours in Taean

Cheollipo Arboretum's operating hours vary by season.

Open year-round, with no regular closing days.

Last admission is 1 hour before closing time.

The arboretum is quite expansive, so based on my experience, it takes about

1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes to explore properly.

It might be difficult to see everything if you go too late,

so I recommend giving yourself plenty of time.

Cheollipo Arboretum's admission fees are divided into peak and

off-peak seasons.

visitors accompanied by a patron member, and non-adult Taean residents.

How to Get a Discount at Cheollipo Arboretum

If you book through Naver, you can get a discount of ~$1

per person and purchase tickets at a discounted price.

However, since I visited on the same day,

Naver reservations weren't available for me.

So, the method I used was the

Digital Tourist Resident Card.

It offers a ~$1 discount per adult,

so I entered for ~$8.

It's a simple process that just requires signing up,

and it's not just for Taean but also for tourist attractions in other cities

where you can get discounts, so if you don't mind the slight effort, give it a try!

Go to the general information desk next to the unmanned ticket machine and

say, "I'll pay with the Digital Tourist Resident Card."

It will be applied immediately.

Cheollipo Arboretum Parking

Cheollipo Arboretum has separate parking areas for general vehicles

and buses.

You'll find the general parking lot after passing the bus parking lot.

Parking was free, and the lot was quite spacious,

making it convenient to use.

Please note that Cheollipo Arboretum

does not allow pets.

If you're visiting with your furry friend,

Manlipo Arboretum, which is pet-friendly, might be a better option.

Inside Cheollipo Arboretum

I presented my ticket, purchased at the information desk,

and entered the arboretum.

Near the entrance, there was also information about stroller rentals,

Families traveling with children might find this useful to keep in mind.

They even had umbrellas available to help you beat the heat on a sunny day.

Since the arboretum is quite expansive,

I highly recommend scanning the map's QR code before you enter!

You'll find all the cafe and restroom locations clearly marked on the map too!

As soon as you step inside, a breathtakingly lush green landscape unfolds before your eyes,

even though it was a scorching summer when I visited,

I found myself thinking I'd actually miss this vibrant greenery when winter arrived.

When I visited, most of the lotus flowers had already faded,

which was a little disappointing.

I imagine it would be even more stunning when they're in full bloom!

There were fantastic photo zones dotted all around,

but going solo meant it was a bit challenging to capture all the perfect shots! 😓

If you're exploring on your own, definitely remember to bring a tripod!

As I wandered without consulting the map, I suddenly found myself at the Min Byung-gal Memorial Hall.

This place tells the inspiring story of why Cheollipo Arboretum came to be,

and how it was so beautifully brought to life.

Nearby, I also spotted the Garden House, an accommodation facility,

and a quick search revealed that the price per night was quite steep.

As I continued my stroll, I also caught sight of some cluster amaryllis.

I'd heard it was the season for them to bloom

but when I was there, I didn't spot as many as I'd hoped.

If you make your way towards the 'Sunset Road', you'll also be treated to ocean views,

and true to its name, 'Sunset Road', I bet it's absolutely magical in the evening.

Some hydrangeas were still holding on,

and I even saw some beautiful pampas grass, which was perfectly in season.

There were so many lovely, nameless flowers blooming everywhere,

making it a joy to walk around and snap photos.

I only wish I had visited when the weather was a little cooler!

On my way out, I popped into the souvenir shop.

They had all kinds of plants for sale,

but since I'm not exactly a green thumb, I just bought a simple magnet as a memento!

Though my visit was completely unplanned,

if you're exploring Taean and looking for a lovely spot to drop by,

definitely consider a visit to Cheollipo Arboretum!

And as much as I wished it hadn't just been a day trip,

next time, I'd love to stay for a night or two

and really delve deeper into Taean.
