Madame Nhu Crown
( Madame Nhu Crown )
There are two Madame Nhu locations in Surry Hills: one on Crown Street and another known as Madame Nhu Surry Hills.
Even in Sydney, Australia,
as you wander through Surry Hills,
you'll find trendy eateries welcoming you,
especially around Crown Street.
Among them, I discovered
Madame Nhu Crown, a Vietnamese pho restaurant.
It boasts a Google rating of 4.4.
A tip for fellow explorers: you'll need to search in English for it to appear on Google!

While Australia is famous for signature dishes like
seafood, fish and chips,
meat pies, fresh lamb,
steak, and oysters,
it's also a melting pot where a wide variety of cuisines have flourished,
thanks to its vibrant multicultural immigrant population.

This pho restaurant is just about a 5-minute walk
from the ADGE Hotel.
It was September and quite chilly, so I was really craving some warming pho.
The neighborhood is quiet,
almost a little too quiet, but
I even spotted an elementary school nearby, which tells you it's a peaceful spot.
Exterior

To the left of the main shop,
you'll find a charming, smaller entrance.

In summer, they often open up the space,
but when I arrived right at opening time,
it was completely empty.
Interior
The slightly dim lighting creates a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
While there are outdoor seats for warmer days,
the chill of September encouraged me to settle into a comfortable spot indoors.

The interior is clean and inviting overall,
with a distinct Vietnamese ambiance,
enhanced by charming little decorative touches throughout.

There are ten seats.
I loved the clean and tidy interior.

The menu itself is also so pretty!

Madam Nu's pho uses broth slow-cooked for 8 hours,
Australian beef,
antibiotic-free chicken,
and fresh vegetables sourced
from Sydney markets, it says.

The Food
🎈 Pho Dac Biet Beef Rice Noodles: $20.50 (approximately ~$13)
Pho Sa Te Sliced Beef: $24.50 (approximately ~$16)
Seafood Rolls: $11.90 (approximately ~$8)

Perhaps that's why, the moment I took a bite,
it was rich, smooth, and spicy –
I truly felt it was different!
The pho was incredibly delicious!

With fresh, crisp vegetables
and onions inside,
it was sweet.
Creamy and
absolutely delicious!

The meat was tender,
full of umami flavor,
hearty and warm –
it was the best pho ever!

This rich and deep pho,
from its taste to its ambiance,
everything was excellent.
A place I highly recommend and would love to revisit.
It was a true hidden gem!
