Many of you are probably planning a trip to Fukuoka

with delicious food and shopping in mind, aren't you?

When you're traveling with these goals,

it's natural to wonder where to stay, right?

I always visit Fukuoka with the same purpose,

and I consistently choose accommodation near Hakata.

Today, I'm thrilled to introduce a hotel that boasts a fantastic location

near Hakata and offers truly outstanding value for money!

Fukuoka Hakata Station: Your Go-To for Value Accommodation

The Sutton Hotel Hakata City, which I'm excited to share with you today,

is conveniently located approximately 500m southwest of Hakata Station,

just a 5-minute walk away.

While it offers various room types like Deluxe and Standard,

most rooms are designed for two, making it the perfect hotel for couples or friends traveling together.

What's more, it boasts truly affordable rates for a hotel near Hakata Station,

averaging around ~$75 on weekdays and approximately ~$150 for a Saturday night stay.

Despite these attractive prices, even the smallest Deluxe Single room offers a

spacious 15m², which is quite generous compared to many business hotels in Japan.

And here's a bonus: on either side of the hotel's ground floor,

you'll find large Lawson and 7-Eleven convenience stores.

These spacious stores are packed with delicious snacks and drinks,

making them perfect for a late-night treat run!

Finally, with a bus stop right in front of the hotel, getting to nearby areas is a breeze.

Plus, Ura-Tenjin and Canal City are both within walking distance,

making it an excellent spot for shopping sprees and culinary adventures.

Despite all these fantastic advantages,

the accommodation costs are surprisingly affordable compared to other hotels in the vicinity.

Even for a Friday night stay, you're looking at prices starting around ~$75.

After comparing several agencies,

Agoda and Yeogi Eottae were the most affordable.

Especially for a one-night stay, Agoda seemed to be cheaper.

Sutton Hotel Hakata City Check-in Procedure

Next, I'll walk you through everything from check-in at Sutton Hotel Hakata City

to my full review of the stay.

Upon entering the 1st floor of the building, you'll find a spacious lobby,

with the front desk located on your left.

With two staff members available, you just need to present your passport

and provide a simple signature, and your check-in process is complete.

If you included breakfast when booking your hotel reservation,

you can enjoy it at a lower price,

but you can also add it on-site for 1,500 JPY.

I had pre-paid through the app,

but I still had to pay a separate accommodation tax.

I paid 200 JPY per person, totaling 400 JPY,

and card payment was available, so keep that in mind.

On the 1st floor, you could self-serve simple amenities like body towels, disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste,

combs, and razors.

You could pick them up yourself.

There weren't amenities like single-use cleansing oil,

so it might be a good idea to bring your own.

Since the hotel is a bit older,

a traditional key was provided instead of a room card.

It was quite novel, as it's a type rarely seen these days.

Deluxe Single Room Stay Review

I stayed in a Deluxe Single Room on the 13th floor,

and although it's called a 'Single Room,' it could actually accommodate two people.

The room layout had the bathroom on the left side of the entrance,

with the sleeping area further inside.

What was quite unique was the wooden flooring,

and the walls were in warm, earthy tones, giving it a cozy feel.

What surprised me most was that despite being affordable, around ~$75,

it felt surprisingly spacious.

While new business hotels nowadays tend to make their rooms as small and compact as possible,

this room was roomy enough to comfortably open two suitcases.

You'll get a sense of it if you look at the hallway near the room entrance;

it's definitely wider than most hotels.

Whether you laid your suitcase out horizontally or vertically,

the wide corridor meant there was plenty of extra space.

Inside the room, there was one double bed,

and it was large enough for two people to use comfortably.

While it wasn't an ultra-plush suite bed,

it felt both slightly soft and firm.

To the right of the bed, there was a long, straight table and a single chair.

Since the table was quite spacious,

it seemed perfect for those visiting for work, offering a comfortable spot

to get things done in the evening.

As we were there for leisure, we stocked up on snacks and goodies from a nearby convenience store

and enjoyed them.

The spacious table made it easy to spread everything out and feast!

Room amenities included a kettle, green tea bags,

bathrobes, slippers, a TV, and a refrigerator.

Near the room entrance, there was a full-length mirror,

perfect for a quick outfit check before heading out in the morning.

It's often a challenge to check your look without a full-length mirror,

so this was a welcome addition!

Next, the bathroom was also surprisingly spacious!

Typically, bathrooms in Japanese business hotels are

incredibly compact, with the sink, bathtub, and toilet

squeezed into a really tight space.

Here, there was noticeably plenty of extra room,

and what I particularly loved was that there were no walls directly beside the toilet,

making it feel much less cramped to use.

To the left, there was a generously sized sink,

and to the right, ample counter space,

which made getting ready in the morning incredibly convenient.

Since the bathroom itself was spacious, the bathtub was also

larger than what you'd typically find in most Japanese hotels.

Tall individuals, especially men, often find it uncomfortable to take a half-bath in the evening even if they want to,

due to cramped bathtubs.

But at The Sutton Hotel, even adult men could comfortably enjoy a relaxing soak.

As for amenities, towels and hand towels were provided according to the number of guests,

and body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were all supplied.

However, body lotion was not provided,

so I recommend bringing your own from home.

Finally, the room view was also beyond our expectations!

Surprisingly, there were no tall buildings directly in front, offering an open, unobstructed view,

and we had a perfect view of the Fukuoka city skyline.

During the day, it was a typical cityscape, but

at night, the sparkling night view had a wonderfully charming ambiance.

A Value-for-Money Hotel That Exceeded All Expectations

Today, I took you through my review of

Sutton Hotel Hakata City, a fantastic value-for-money accommodation

right near Hakata Station in Fukuoka.

To be honest, when I booked it, the price was incredibly low,

and I knew the hotel had been around for a while,

so I didn't go in with super high expectations.

However, after actually experiencing it,

I was absolutely thrilled to find it far more spacious and of much better quality than I anticipated!

And it wasn't just the rooms that shone! The hotel's location

near Hakata Station is incredibly convenient, making it super easy to get around.

With convenience stores and bus stops just a stone's throw away,

it really is an excellent base for your adventures.
