If that's your travel goal,

you're probably wondering where the best place to stay is, right?

Every time I visit Fukuoka for the same reasons,

I always choose accommodation near Hakata. Today, I'm thrilled to introduce a hotel that not only boasts a fantastic location near Hakata but also offers incredible value for money!

is conveniently located about 500m southwest of Hakata Station,

just a 5-minute walk away.

While they offer various room types like Deluxe and Standard,

most rooms are designed for two, making it the perfect hotel for duos exploring Fukuoka.

What's more, for a hotel so close to Hakata Station,

it boasts incredibly affordable rates: around ~$69 on weekdays,

and approximately ~$138 for a Saturday stay.

Despite the price, even the smallest Deluxe Single room offers

a generous 15m², approximately 4.5 pyeong, of space, which you'll find quite spacious

compared to most business hotels in Japan.

On either side of the hotel's first floor, you'll find large Lawson and

7-Eleven convenience stores. Their ample size means a wide selection of food and drinks,

making them absolutely perfect for late-night snack runs!

Finally, with a bus stop right in front of the hotel,

getting to nearby areas is a breeze. Plus, it's within walking distance to spots like

Ura-Tenjin and Canal City, making it a fantastic base for shopping and exploring local eateries.

Despite all these fantastic advantages,

the hotel's rates are still more affordable compared to other hotels in the vicinity.

Even for a Friday night stay, it's just over ~$69.

After comparing several booking agencies,

I found that Agoda and Yeogiyae offered the most competitive prices.

Agoda, in particular, was the cheapest for a one-night stay.

Next, I'll walk you through everything from checking in at Sutton Hotel Hakata City

to my full stay review.

As you step into the building on the first floor, you'll find a spacious lobby,

with the front desk conveniently located on your left.

With two staff members at the front desk, the check-in process is super quick:

just present your passport and sign a brief form, and you're all set!

If you included breakfast when you booked your hotel,

you'll get a better deal, but

you can also add it on-site for 1,500 yen.

I pre-paid through an app, but

I still had to pay a separate accommodation tax.

It was 200 yen per person, totaling 400 yen, and

credit card payment was an option, which is good to know!

On the first floor, you can self-service simple amenities

like body towels, disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste,

combs, and razors.

However, amenities like single-use cleansing oil weren't available,

so it might be a good idea to bring your own if you need them.

Since the hotel is a bit older,

they provide a traditional key instead of a room card.

It was quite fascinating to see, as it's not something you often find these days!

Deluxe Single Room Stay Review

I stayed in a Deluxe Single Room on the 13th floor, and

despite its name, it was actually spacious enough for two people to stay comfortably!

The room layout featured the bathroom to the left of the entrance,

with the bedroom area further inside. What was really unique was the wooden flooring,

and the earthy, ochre-toned walls gave the space a wonderfully warm and inviting feel.

What surprised me most was how spacious it felt, especially considering its affordable price point,

around ~\$69.

While many newer business hotels tend to make rooms as small and compact as possible,

this one felt incredibly roomy—enough space to comfortably open up two large suitcases!

You'll get a sense of it when you see the hallway by the room entrance;

it's definitely wider than most hotels. Whether you lay your suitcase horizontally or vertically,

the wide aisle meant there was plenty of room to spare.

Inside the room, there was a double bed,

perfectly sized for two people. While it wasn't a super-plush suite bed,

it had a lovely balance of being somewhat soft yet firm.

To the right of the bed, there was a long, linear table and

a single chair. The table was quite generously sized, making it perfect for

business travelers to catch up on work in the evenings or

It looked like a comfortable spot to sit and work.

Since we were traveling, we bought a bunch of snacks from a nearby convenience store and ate them.

The spacious table was perfect for spreading everything out and enjoying our meal.

In-room amenities included a coffee pot, green tea bags,

bathrobes, slippers, a TV, and a refrigerator.

There was a full-length mirror near the room entrance, which was great for checking our outfits before heading out in the morning.

It's often difficult to properly check your outfit when hotels lack a full-length mirror.

Next, the bathroom was also surprisingly spacious!

Typically, Japanese business hotels are known for their incredibly compact bathrooms, where the sink, bathtub, and toilet are squeezed into a tiny space.

But here, there was plenty of room, and what really stood out was the absence of walls on either side of the toilet, making it much more comfortable to use.

On the left, there was a generously sized sink, and on the right, some extra space, which made it super convenient for getting ready in the morning.

Since the bathroom itself was spacious, the bathtub was also larger than what you'd typically find in most Japanese hotels.

Tall individuals, especially men, often find it uncomfortable to enjoy a relaxing half-bath in the evening due to tiny tubs, but at Sutton Hotel, even adult men could comfortably use it!

As for bathroom amenities, towels and hand towels were provided according to the number of guests, and body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were all included.

However, body lotion was not provided, so I recommend bringing your own from home if you need it!

And finally, the room view was also beyond our expectations!

Surprisingly, there were no tall buildings blocking the view, giving us a wide-open panorama of the Fukuoka city skyline.

While it was just ordinary buildings during the day, at night, the twinkling city lights created a surprisingly atmospheric and enchanting night view.
