Sushi Bashiku Gwangalli: Michelin Chef's Sushi Course
Craving exceptional sushi in Gwangalli, Busan? Sushi Bashiku offers a Michelin-chef-led experience with omakase-level quality at an incredibly affordable price. Find out why it's a must-visit!

Looking for a place in Gwangalli that offers great value
and a truly authentic sushi restaurant?
You'll surely be satisfied with this spot.

I visited Sushi Bashiku with my daughter,
and it's a Gwangalli restaurant that truly exceeded expectations for its price point.
So, I'm excited to share all the details with you.
Gwangalli Sushi Gem with a Chef from Michelin-Starred Osaka
Sushi Bashiku is run by Chef Oh In-hwan,
who previously worked at 'Sushi Sanshin,' Osaka's only TabeLOG Gold awardee
and a Michelin 1-star restaurant.
This place was even featured on SBS's 'Masters of Life',
so after telling my daughter, who usually only eats salmon and flounder sushi,
"This place is really famous!"
we visited with high expectations.

You can enjoy omakase-level quality in a clean and refined atmosphere
at an incredibly reasonable price.
For anyone looking for a fantastic sushi restaurant in Gwangalli,
this is definitely a place I'd recommend.
Catchtable Reservations: A Must!
We arrived around 5:20 PM, just after the 5 PM dinner opening time,
but thanks to our Catchtable reservation for 5:30 PM,
we were able to walk right in without any wait.

Weekend reservations are an absolute must❗
After 6 PM, reserved guests streamed in,
and all seats filled up in a flash.
It's true for weekdays too, but on weekends,
it seems almost impossible to get a seat without a Catchtable reservation.
📍Parking Tip
While parking assistance isn't available during lunch hours,
if you visit during dinner,
you can get 1 hour of validated parking at the nearby Dongbang Sky Parking Lot.
This makes it super convenient for those arriving by car.
When visiting with my daughter, making a reservation in advance like this
meant she could sit down comfortably without waiting,
which was an added bonus.
All Counter Seating: A Live Kitchen Experience Right Before Your Eyes
The interior features all counter seating (datjji),
allowing you to watch the chef meticulously prepare each piece of sushi
right in front of you.

My daughter especially loved this part!
Being able to see the cooking process firsthand meant
she wasn't bored; instead, she was captivated
and thoroughly enjoyed her meal.

There were four staff members in total, including the chef,
and their smooth, coordinated teamwork was impressive.
Everything felt refined and friendly.
Experience a Dinner Course for ~$29
Sushi Bashiku's biggest draw is undoubtedly its price!
The fact that you can savor omakase-level sushi, intricately prepared, even during dinner,
for just ~$29 is truly astonishing.
12 Recommended Sushi Pieces

I recently read a review from a Japanese person who said the sushi here was even better than in Japan,
and I can confirm, they weren't wrong!

It's not just about placing neta (fish/topping) directly on top of the rice (shari);
instead, each type of fish is thoughtfully paired with
a perfectly matching garnish (yakumi).

With every single piece, the neta and yakumi harmonized beautifully,
creating an extraordinary burst of flavor in my mouth.

Midway through, this whole fried shrimp came out.
They fried the shrimp whole, shaping it into a perfect circle.
My daughter usually isn't a big fan of fried shrimp, you know??
But she absolutely loved this one!

For the kuruma prawn and the squid below,
I added a little bit of wasabi myself.

I was so sure the herring would be fishy, but there was absolutely no hint of it,
which really surprised me. It definitely gets a thumbs up!

The balance of texture and umami was simply incredible.

And for the last of the 12 sushi pieces?

Even my daughter, who usually only eats salmon and flounder sushi,
enjoyed her meal here so much
that I can confidently say this Gwangalli sushi spot
will satisfy anyone looking for a hearty and delicious meal.
A Spot for a Second Round (or late-night drinks) Until Late at Night
Unlike most sushi restaurants that close around 9 PM,
Sushi Bashiku is open until 1 AM.
It seemed like a great place to stop by for a second round after dinner,
to enjoy à la carte sushi or fresh sashimi with sake and highballs.
If you have some extra time after dinner with friends or your significant other,
this kind of late-night sushi experience is definitely worth trying.
