Goheung Travel: Is Sun Valley Resort Truly a Great Value? Honest Review of the Pros & Cons (Including Breakfast)
When planning my trip to Goheung, the thing I agonized over most was accommodation.
I spent hours searching for 'Goheung hotels,' 'Goheung resorts,' and 'Goheung pensions'...
but it wasn't easy finding a place that ticked all the boxes.
The pensions felt a bit underwhelming for their price,
and motels didn't feel like the right fit for a relaxing family getaway.
After meticulously comparing almost every option in Goheung,
I finally landed on the Goheung Sun Valley Resort.

In reality, this is pretty much the only resort-scale property in Goheung with solid facilities,
which made my decision
to book the Sun Valley Resort an easy one.
Let me share exactly why I chose this spot.

We spent our day visiting the Naro Space Center,
and then headed to Nokdong Port for dinner and to catch the spectacular drone show.
From Nokdong Port to Goheung Sun Valley Resort,
it's just a quick 20-minute drive.
It was the absolute perfect way to wrap up our day's itinerary :)

By the way, the Nokdong Port Drone Show is a must-see.
Honestly, it was absolutely spectacular!!!
Personally, I enjoyed it even more than the famous Gwangalli Drone Show in Busan.
Rooms & Pricing
The moment I stepped inside the room, my immediate thought was, "Wow, this is incredible value!"

Rather than feeling like a sterile hotel room,
it felt incredibly cozy and homey from the very start.
Even if you are traveling with toddlers,
there are very few safety hazards, making it a stress-free stay.

You can book through sites like Agoda, Trip.com, or local Korean booking apps,
but searching on Agoda,
I saw the 18-pyeong (~640 sq ft) room rates drop all the way down to around ~$58.

Loved how the sunlight reached every corner of the room, and there was plenty of extra bedding~
This is exactly why Goheung Sun Valley Resort is known for its unbeatable value:
18-pyeong / ~640 sq ft (Up to 4 adults) = around ~$77
34-pyeong / ~1,200 sq ft (Up to 7 adults) = around ~$122
Including tax, these prices are seriously mind-blowing!!
The 34-pyeong (~1,200 sq ft) suite has a two-room layout, perfect for multi-family stays
Since our trip coincided with the golden holiday week in early May,
the 18-pyeong (~640 sq ft) rooms were already fully booked.
We ended up staying in the 34-pyeong (~1,200 sq ft) suite as a family of three,
and with its two-room layout, it felt spacious enough for multiple families to share.

If two or three families split it, it costs less than ~$64 per family.
Goheung Sun Valley Resort | The warm sunshine flooding the room was absolutely lovely.
Even though our room was on the 3rd floor (a lower floor),
the sunlight streamed in beautifully.
Opening the curtains to find the space filled with bright, warm light
really set a wonderful, cheerful tone for the trip.

Overall, the cleanliness was great, but
it did have a slightly dated feel.
The towels were freshly washed and clean,
but they felt just a tiny bit worn out?

By the way, we stayed in a room on the 3rd floor,
and it had a spacious balcony right outside that felt like a rooftop garden.
It was the perfect spot to sip on some coffee or take a stroll under the moonlight.

if you book in advance the night before. (Be sure to check first!)

Honestly, while the selection wasn't super massive,
they had everything from fresh salads and breads to traditional Korean side dishes, drinks, and coffee!
It was more than enough to enjoy a cozy and satisfying breakfast.
I especially loved that they had a warm rice noodle station to start the morning.

Amenities & Facilities
The best thing about Sun Valley Resort's facilities
is that they literally have everything you could possibly need.

From a cafe, arcade, and convenience store to a karaoke room—
all the spots where the whole family can gather
and share a good laugh in the evening are located on the 1st floor.
Also, having a seawater sauna is a huge plus,
though we couldn't make it this time due to our schedule.

It was great to have facilities where the whole family could hang out together.
My Honest Thoughts: A Few Disappointing Points
Overall, it was a very satisfying stay for the price, but
if I had to nitpick a few things...
Goheung Sun Valley Resort - Feels like a simple, cozy family home
The decor and facilities aren't super modern or stylish.
Everything is clean and well-stocked,
but it doesn't feel like the interiors or facilities have been updated recently.
The sauna's operating hours are a bit limited.
The seawater sauna closes at 7:00 PM,
which makes it hard to use if you want to grab dinner first.
Also, the infinity pool was closed during our visit.
If you plan on using the infinity pool, make sure to check its schedule in advance.

One last thing: there aren't many restaurants right around the resort.
But if you grab a bite at Nokdong Port beforehand
like we did, it won't be an issue at all.
(It's just a 20-minute drive from Nokdong Port)
Final Verdict: My Honest Review
Spacious and cozy rooms in the ~$64 range,
great on-site facilities for the whole family to enjoy in the evening,
and a fantastic location just a 20-minute drive from Nokdong Port!!
