As you can see on Google Maps, Star Ximen Hotel is perfectly
situated right in the Ximending district,
making it incredibly convenient for exploring Taipei's city center.
If I had to pick the biggest advantage of Star Ximen Hotel,
it would hands down be its location.
It's less than a 5-minute walk from Ximending Pedestrian Street –
truly super close!
Ximen MRT Station is also nearby, and Taipei Main Station is
within walking distance, making airport transfers a breeze.
It was easy to return to the hotel after a late night exploring Ximending,
and equally great for heading out early for sightseeing.
With countless convenience stores, restaurants, and cafes nearby,
I didn't experience a single inconvenience.
Accessibility to Nearby Attractions
From Ximending, you can reach major attractions like
Taipei 101 or Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in just about 10 minutes by MRT.
Longshan Temple is within walking distance, and both
Huaxi Street Night Market and Ningxia Night Market are close by,
making it perfect for a night market tour.
What's more, Ximending itself is packed with sights and eats,
so you'll have plenty of fun just exploring around the hotel.
Ximen Red House, the book street, various pop-up stores, and
cafes are all within walking distance.
An Unbeatable Deal for Your Taipei Stay
While researching budget-friendly hotels in Taipei,
I looked at many options before finally booking on Agoda,
where the price was truly reasonable.
Sticking to my 'just a place to sleep' philosophy,
I booked a Standard Double Room,
and just in case, I checked off 'high floor room' and 'quiet room' as preferences!
I stayed for 3 nights, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and it was an incredible ~$140!!!
Taipei Weekend Getaway
3 Nights for ~$140
Around ~$41 Per Night
I absolutely loved the hotel's location,
and the price was so incredibly affordable that I simply couldn't resist booking it!

There are so many reviews, which shows just how
popular this hotel is among travelers.
The photos might give an impression of it being a bit older,
but that didn't matter much to me.
Upon arriving at Taipei, Taiwan airport –
it was a late-night arrival – I took the Kuo-Kuang bus
to Taipei Main Station, then a taxi to the hotel.
After getting out of the taxi, I was a bit flustered at first,
seeing only what looked like a regular building and wondering, 'Is this really the hotel??' haha.
Turns out, it's not a standalone hotel but rather
located within a mixed-use building.
I probably would have found it easily if I'd arrived during the day,
but arriving at night caught me a little off guard – just between us!
Just so you know, it's located in the building where you can see the Star Ximen sign, as shown in the picture.
Step into the entrance, and you'll spot the elevator.
Star Ximen Hotel is conveniently located on the 9th and 10th floors!
Once you step out of the elevator, the front desk is right there,
so no need to worry!
The hotel might not be huge, but it has absolutely everything you need.
Even with an early morning arrival, the check-in process was
handled so kindly and smoothly, which I really appreciated.
I asked if there was a convenience store nearby,
and even though we had a bit of a language barrier,
we had a fun chat, diligently using a translation app.
It was so memorable and funny, I still remember it clearly! haha
After checking in, I followed the long corridor to my assigned
room to check it out.
I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room was!
Even with my large suitcase, the room was so spacious
it was perfect for spreading out my luggage and settling in comfortably.
Plus, with air conditioning, I could stay comfortable in hot and humid Taipei.
It was a bit older, but I had absolutely no issues during my stay.
(Being an older building, I was a little worried about bugs, but I didn't spot a single one!)
Some Agoda reviews mentioned it could be a bit noisy,
but personally, it was quiet enough for me to stay comfortably,
and I slept soundly without any issues.
The bathroom was also clean, which I appreciated,
and while shampoo and body wash were provided,
I personally recommend bringing your own if you have specific preferences.
I was pleased to find disposable amenities like toothbrushes and soap also
provided.
What really surprised me was how large the refrigerator was,
and there was even a little kitchenette!
There's a coffee pot and a sink, which is a great bonus to note.
Now that I'm checked in and feeling hungry, I immediately headed out to find a convenience store.
The location was definitely fantastic; as soon as I stepped out, I was right in the middle of the city!
I grabbed some quick bites from the nearby convenience store that the friendly Star Ximen Hotel staff recommended.
With a sofa and table right in the room,
it was perfect for sitting down and enjoying some snacks.
If you're looking for a luxurious hotel, this might not be your first choice, but
for anyone who sees accommodation during travel as simply a comfortable place to wash up and sleep,
I highly, highly recommend it!
It offers fantastic value for money and an unbeatable location,
making it absolutely perfect for exploring downtown Taipei.
Especially if you're a first-time visitor to Taipei ,
staying near Ximending is incredibly convenient .
It's a major transportation hub, and
there are so many food options nearby, you'll never worry about meals.
If you're planning to explore Taipei on foot, hopping from one spot to another,
then Taiwan Taipei's excellent value accommodation, the Star Ximen Hotel , is highly recommended.
My honest, self-funded review concludes here!
