Our very first proper stay during our 2026 Taiwan trip was
an incredibly affordable hidden gem in Wulai, just outside Taipei:
The Spring Spa Hotel.
Out of our entire 6-day itinerary, this was absolutely our favorite accommodation.
If we ever return to Wulai, or if we travel with our parents in the future,
this is the place we would book again without hesitation.
Today, I want to share my top pick for anyone
planning a relaxing hot spring getaway to Wulai.
1. Why We Chose Spring Spa Hotel
When hunting for the perfect stay in Wulai, we had a strict checklist.
The only place that checked every single box
was the 'Spring Spa Hotel.'
Our Wulai Accommodation Criteria:
1. Price must be around $100 per night
2. Must have a private hot spring bath in the room
3. Facilities must be exceptionally clean
4. The better the nature view, the better the stay

This is the actual view from our bathroom at the Spring Spa Hotel!
It's cozy, features a private plunge pool, and allows you to
soak in the natural hot spring water while gazing out at the lush forest.
Plus, at just around $100 per night, it was incredibly budget-friendly,
so we booked it immediately without a second thought.
You can book directly through the link below:
2. Hotel Lobby & Check-in

The hotel lobby and the guest rooms are in separate buildings.
The main reception is located right here.

The entrance is decorated with traditional aboriginal artifacts and clothing,
giving the space a unique, culturally rich atmosphere.
You can check in at the counter on the right.
Check-in: From 5:00 PM
Check-out: Until 12:00 PM
Breakfast: 30-minute reservation slots from 8:30 AM
(Vegan options available)
Perk: 1 free public hot spring entry per person
(Ages 13+, towel and locker provided)
A 5:00 PM check-in might seem a bit late, but this is
actually standard for most hot spring hotels in the Wulai area.
They happily store your luggage before check-in, so you can drop your bags off,
explore the Old Street, and come back when your room is ready.

The lobby features a lounge area where you can
enjoy a quick bite or have your breakfast.
There's cozy indoor seating, as well as a fantastic terrace
where you can feel the breeze and listen to the river.

The view from the terrace is breathtaking—
emerald green river waters flowing below
and untouched, dense forest across the banks.
It's the kind of peaceful scenery that makes it a perfect retreat.
3. Room Condition & Amenities

After checking in, we were guided to our room in
a building labeled Wulai Hot Spring Villa.

We stayed in Room 222 in this two-story building.
The entire structure embraces an aboriginal design theme,
complete with a wooden carved figure 'guarding' our door, which was a fun touch.

There's a small table set up in the corridor outside the room,
making it a great spot to enjoy some late-night snacks
or drinks picked up from the nearby convenience store.

The room layout smartly separates the sleeping area from the bath,
with a separate enclosed toilet space as well.
Compared to the notoriously cramped hotels in downtown Taipei, this felt incredibly spacious.

It comes equipped with a double bed, mini-fridge, wardrobe, and seating area.
Everything you need for a comfortable stay is right here.
Having the sink separate from the main bathroom was also a huge plus for getting ready.

Amenities included disposable toiletries, a hair dryer,
and an electric kettle.
They even provide a traditional tea set, allowing you to
immerse yourself in Taiwan's famous tea culture right in your room.

But the real star of the show is the private bath.
Even before stepping in, you are greeted by vibrant green forest views.
(It honestly gave off major Studio Ghibli vibes—
this was the exact moment I fell in love with the place.)

The bath area features a smaller cold plunge pool, a larger hot tub,
and a dedicated shower space.
It feels very reminiscent of a traditional Japanese onsen.
Shampoo, body wash, and four fresh towels are provided.

You control the water temperature by adjusting
these two main valves.
The hot water piped into the room is 100% natural hot spring water,
and it comes out at the absolute perfect temperature for a relaxing soak.

It was deep enough to submerge completely,
and sipping a cold beer while enjoying a foot bath with that view
made it feel like a true luxury staycation.

We loved it so much that we used the private bath
a total of three times: twice at night and once before check-out!
4. Breakfast Experience

During check-in, the staff will ask for your
preferred breakfast time and location.
You can choose to eat in your room, the indoor lounge, or the outdoor terrace.
Room service is a great perk,
but we wanted to dine surrounded by nature,
so we opted for the outdoor terrace.

Down on the first floor in the cafe area,
there is a self-serve beverage station with hot coffee,
water, iced black tea, and iced coffee.

Breakfast is served as a simple Japanese-style bento box.
Instead of regular rice, it comes with a mild white porridge,
and the side dishes are clean and subtle in flavor.
To be completely honest, it wasn't the most delicious meal of our trip.
Since you've traveled all the way to Taiwan,
we highly recommend checking out the incredibly cheap and tasty local street food
just steps away from the hotel for your morning cravings.
5. Final Verdict

Spring Spa Hotel, Wulai Hot Springs
The staff were incredibly welcoming, the private bath was deeply relaxing,
and the stunning nature views were unforgettable.
It's an unbeatable value for the price.
As a bonus, guests are also entitled to one free entry
to the large public hot spring facility during their stay.
Because it offers such a peaceful and restorative environment,
I think it's the perfect destination for a romantic couple's getaway
or a relaxing trip with your parents.
