Hello, fellow travelers!
I recently returned from an incredible 6-night, 7-day trip to Taipei, and
I just have to share my absolute favorite hotel from the journey.
With its unbeatable location, pristine room conditions, and easy transit access,
I already know this will be my go-to home base for future visits!
If you're specifically looking for a place to stay in the vibrant Ximending area,
you're going to love this spot. :)
🔎 What you'll find in this review!

4 | Honest Review & Final Thoughts |

Ximen is easily one of the most popular areas for tourists visiting Taiwan!
I wanted a hotel that made it easy to travel to major attractions
while being right in the heart of a bustling district full of street food and shopping.
That's exactly why I focused my search around Ximen Station.
The winner? Sotetsu Grand Fresa Taipei Ximen.
I was completely blown away by the location and the quality of the room.

🇹🇼 Why I Highly Recommend This Hotel 🇹🇼
✔ Just a 1-minute walk from Ximen Station
✔ A relatively new property (opened in 2024)
✔ Spacious rooms & pristine conditions with city views
✔ Centralized water purification system
✔ Incredible value at around ~$154 per night
Being just a 1-minute walk from the MRT station was a game-changer.
It made dragging heavy luggage around entirely stress-free.
Since it's a newer property that opened its doors in 2024,
everything felt incredibly fresh, modern, and impeccably clean. ✨
I booked a multi-night stay, and it averaged out to about ~$154 per night.
Considering the prime location and top-tier condition, the value is unbeatable!

Sotetsu Grand Fresa Taipei Ximen Reviews & Special Deals, Taipei 2026 | Trip.com
When I was looking to book my consecutive nights,
Trip.com had the lowest rates, so I secured 2 nights for ~$308.
However, the cheapest platform can change depending on your dates.
I highly recommend comparing a few sites before you book!
I've left another link at the bottom of this post for easy comparison. :)

The hotel is literally right outside the Ximen Station exit,
making it impossible to miss when you first arrive.
Navigating a new city with luggage on day one can drain your energy fast,
so having the hotel steps from the station was a massive relief.

Check-in is handled via automated kiosks,
but friendly staff are standing by to help if you need it, making the process seamless.
They also offer luggage storage before check-in and after check-out,
which allowed us to explore freely on our first and last days!

I was assigned room 510.
Before heading up, I grabbed a few extra amenities from the convenient lobby station!

I booked the "Standard Double Room without view."
It was the most budget-friendly option, but when I walked in,
I was pleasantly surprised! It had large windows that gave off a great city vibe.

Being on the 5th floor meant it wasn't a soaring skyline view,
but it felt like the perfect height to watch the bustling streets below.
The atmosphere outside the window was lovely both day and night.

The room itself was surprisingly spacious.
There was plenty of room to keep our suitcases fully open,
and ample storage space made our multi-night stay very comfortable.

The double bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bedding was so plush
that I slept like a baby every single night.. 💤💤

There's also a cozy sofa and table by the window,
which was the perfect spot for eating late-night street food while watching TV.
Because it's a newer hotel, everything was spotless.
It easily ranked as my number one accommodation choice on this Taiwan trip.

The room came fully equipped with pajamas, slippers, and a safe.
There's also a mini-fridge, a kettle, and complimentary coffee and tea!

Instead of plastic water bottles, they use a water dispenser system.
You can just fill up your pitcher whenever you need.
They even provided an air purifier, keeping the room incredibly fresh.

The bathroom was so large it practically felt like another room!
I loved that the toilet and shower areas were completely separated.
The shower booth itself was extremely roomy.
It didn't feel cramped in the slightest!

And here is my absolute favorite feature:
Many travelers bring shower filters when visiting Taiwan,
but this hotel uses a centralized water purification system for the entire building,
so you don't need to pack a separate shower filter at all!

Finally, the hair dryer was surprisingly powerful—a small but crucial detail! ~~~

Because the hotel is right by the main street of Ximending,
it was incredibly convenient for late-night shopping or grabbing midnight snacks.
Convenience stores, top-rated restaurants, and shopping spots are all just steps away.
The location is truly top-tier. 😏
If you value a clean, modern hotel with unbeatable access to Ximen Station,
I cannot recommend this place enough! ❣️
Just make sure to compare prices across different platforms before booking! :)
🔻 Find the Lowest Price 🔻
Sotetsu Grand Fresa Taipei Ximen, Taipei, 05/13 – 05/14
If your travel dates are flexible, setting up price drop alerts is a great idea.
But if your itinerary is locked in, booking early
is definitely the best way to secure a lower rate!
If you're debating where to stay in Ximending, definitely keep this gem in mind. ✨
📍 SOTETSU GRAND FRESA Taipei Ximen

The article mentioned the cost was around ~$132 per night, and for a two-night stay, ~$264 was paid. While Trip.com was the cheapest at the time of booking, the lowest-priced platform varies by date, so it's advisable to compare prices across several platforms.
This hotel uses a water purification system for all its water, so a separate shower filter is not needed. Additionally, instead of bottled water in the rooms, a water purifier system is utilized.
According to the article, even though a 'Standard Double Room with No View' was booked, it felt like a full-window city view. It was a room on the 5th floor, offering a city view at a comfortable height without feeling cramped.
The hotel is located a 1-minute walk from Ximending Station, right in front of the station exit, making MRT use and luggage transport very convenient. Near the hotel is Ximending Main Street, where convenience stores, restaurants, and shopping spots can be enjoyed late into the night.
