Don't let bus travel in Korea stress you out! Get the latest 2026 timetables, luggage storage hacks, and booking tips for Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal.
Hello, fellow travelers!
It's that time of the year again, and I just returned from another amazing trip to Sokcho in Gangwon State.
If you've been following my blog for a while, you probably know that Sokcho is my absolute favorite getaway. It's a must-visit destination that I travel to at least three times a year!
I just got back yesterday after spending a few days completely unwinding. For those of you exploring Korea on foot without a rental car, Sokcho is incredibly accessible with excellent public transportation options. It's truly a breeze to navigate.
So, in today's post, I'm sharing the latest Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal timetable (as of 06/18/2026), along with luggage storage hacks and a fantastic nearby cafe recommendation! :)
First things first: Sokcho actually has two different bus terminals. There is the Intercity Bus Terminal near Jungang Market, and the Express Bus Terminal near Cheongchoho Lake.
This time, I took an intercity bus from Daejeon to Sokcho. If it's your first time visiting, getting these two terminals mixed up is a very common (and frustrating!) mistake.
📍 Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal
16 Jangan-ro, Sokcho-si, Gangwon State
📍 Sokcho Express Bus Terminal
3988 Donghae-daero, Sokcho-si, Gangwon State
These two terminals are NOT close to each other. You will definitely need to take a taxi or a local bus to travel between them. I highly recommend double-checking which terminal your bus arrives at when booking your accommodation or rental car.
Currently, most routes departing from the Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal can be booked online.
However, there are exceptions. For instance, the route from Yuseong (Daejeon) to Sokcho cannot be booked in advance via the T-money GO or BusTago apps. You have to purchase your ticket in person at the terminal counter, which can be a bit of a hassle.
In fact, if you check the Yuseong -> Sokcho route on the T-money GO app, it often shows up as "Sold Out." Don't panic! This is just a system glitch. You can safely ignore it and just buy your ticket when you arrive at the station.
For most other routes, including Seoul and other parts of Gangwon State, online booking through the T-money GO and BusTago apps works perfectly.
Below, I'll share the latest 2026 timetable for the Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal! :)
These days, the T-money GO app is so reliable that most people don't even bother checking the physical timetable at the terminal anymore.
While the app is super convenient for booking, it doesn't give you a quick, at-a-glance overview of all the schedules. You have to manually search for each route, which can be tedious.
Even if you've already booked your ticket, it's always a good idea to double-check your departure platform and verify if there have been any last-minute time changes.
The most frequent route operating out of this terminal is the "Dong Seoul" line. If you're heading further down south to places like Daejeon, Yuseong, Jeonju, or Daegu, expect the one-way fare to be around ~$26.
If you're coming from Daejeon like I did, you might wonder if taking a train or a transit bus is a better option. If you transit through Yuseong, it adds about 30 minutes to your journey. (In my experience, the direct bus is much more convenient.)
Compared to last year's schedule,
the routes remain largely the same, but departure times have shifted.
Some routes have added buses, while others have reduced them.
It's crucial to check this updated timetable!
Although it's a relatively small terminal,
it services an impressive number of routes.
If you're exploring Sokcho without a car,
make sure to cross-reference the T-money GO app
with the updated timetable I've provided here! :)
For those heading to Daejeon Complex,
there is only one direct departure from Sokcho per day.
If you prefer a later departure, the 1:00 PM bus to Yuseong
is a solid alternative.
However, keep in mind that the bus to Daejeon is a standard bus,
not a premium "Udeung" bus. Sitting for 5 hours
can be pretty tough on the back.
A second alternative is to transit through Dong Seoul.
Currently, the Sokcho-Dong Seoul route
is taking a slight detour, so it takes a bit longer than usual.
You can easily spot the luggage lockers inside the Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal—they are located right next to the unmanned ticketing kiosks in the waiting room.
Here's the catch: there are only 18 lockers available. From my experience, during weekends or peak travel seasons, these lockers fill up incredibly fast, making it super tough to find a spot for your bags.
As a frequent visitor, I can attest that intercity bus travel to Sokcho and Gangneung is massively popular among tourists.
Even though I intentionally traveled on a quiet weekday (Wednesday), you can see that every locker was taken except for four small ones! I needed to store a large suitcase, and since all the large lockers were occupied, I had to use a brilliant alternative: a cafe right behind the terminal. :)
My bus back to Dong Seoul was scheduled for 2:00 PM. Since I had about two hours to kill, I decided to relax at a nearby cafe.
📍 Soho Cafe
1F, 11 Subok-ro 259beon-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon State
Located literally right behind the terminal, this place is a lifesaver. Not only do they have outlets to charge your phone, but they also offer paid luggage storage. It's the perfect Plan B when the terminal lockers are full.
There's plenty of seating to kick back and relax, making it an ideal spot to wrap up your Sokcho trip. My friends and I spent the time reviewing all the photos we took during our vacation!
It turns out this building operates as a cafe, a guesthouse, and a souvenir shop all in one. Here's a pro tip: Make sure you get back to the terminal area at least an hour before your departure. The neighborhood right behind the terminal is packed with aesthetic indie shops and cafes that are incredibly fun to browse!
That wraps up my personal experience and tips for using the Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal on my latest trip. I hope this helps you plan a smooth and stress-free journey! If you found this useful, please consider subscribing to the blog!

The route from Yuseong to Sokcho cannot be booked in advance through the app; you must pay on-site at the terminal. If it shows as sold out on the app, it is a system issue, so you can simply arrive at the terminal and issue your ticket there.
There is only one bus per day departing from Daejeon Bus Terminal Complex, and you can take the 1:00 PM bus from Yuseong Intercity Bus Terminal. It takes about 5 hours if you take a direct standard bus. If you go via Dong Seoul, it will take longer due to a detour currently in place.
The luggage lockers at Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal are located next to the unmanned ticket machines in the waiting room. There are only 18 lockers in total, so the large lockers are often full even on weekdays.
You can use the paid luggage storage service at Soho Cafe, located right behind the terminal. You can also charge your phone at this cafe, making it a great place to rest while waiting for your bus to depart.
