1. Tips for Choosing Accommodation to Elevate Your Trip Quality

For my Sokcho trip this time,
I stayed at an Airbnb.
It was clean, had a swimming pool, and even allowed cooking.
Since it's relatively new, it was pristine and even more comfortable than a hotel.
It was a fantastic stay!
The accommodation was conveniently located near Sokcho Beach, Cheongchoho Lake,
and the bus terminal.
With restaurants, cafes, and tourist attractions nearby,
it was perfectly optimized for travel.
What's more, despite all those conveniences,
it was also great value for money, making it a truly satisfying stay.

3. Reviews and Tips for Each Location

1. Chungju Sanghoe
Chungju Sanghoe is famous for its squid sundae (Korean sausage).
To share a review, I ordered an assorted platter to try, but
in conclusion, the flower sundae or the scorched rice sundae were the most delicious!
Therefore, I recommend buying a few different kinds in small portions at the market
to taste them all.
📍 Chungju Sanghoe
Chungju Sanghoe, 39 Jungang-ro 147beon-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province

2. Yes Dakgangjeong
This is currently the most popular dakgangjeong (sweet & spicy fried chicken) spot,
and it has a unique visual due to the addition of squid ink.
The fried chicken was crispy, and since it's made only with boneless chicken thigh,
it was tender, not dry, and absolutely delicious!
If I had to rate its flavor, it was the best dakgangjeong I've ever had in Sokcho.
There's often a long wait here, so I recommend doing an 'open run' (arriving right at opening) or
booking your pickup through Naver two days in advance!
>>How to Pick Up Yes Dakgangjeong Without Fail<<

If you couldn't reserve your Yes Dakgangjeong pickup,
you can do an 'open run' on the day of, place your order,
and receive it after about 2 hours.

Here's a pro tip!
To make the waiting time fly by effectively,
place your order first, then explore the market and enjoy some snacks.
If you have extra time,
be sure to stop by Yukgu Bangatgan and try their delicious tteok (rice cakes) too!

3. Honeyne: The Top Bakery Pilgrimage Spot
Their croissants and ciabatta are genuinely so delicious that
I packed over ~$35 worth of bread from here –
it’s truly a gourmet spot I personally vouch for!
📍 Honeyne
1st Floor, 17-2 Beonyeong-ro 105beon-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province
Here too, you typically need to do an 'open run' starting at 8 AM to get your hands on their delicious baked goods.
But I pre-ordered my bread via text message, so I could pick up all the kinds I wanted.
That morning, I had a sandwich and a croissant, and they were so incredibly tasty
that I wished I had bought even more!
You absolutely must try the croissants and olive sticks!

4. Insaeng Ne Cut: Perfect for Making Memories
There are unique 'Insaeng Ne Cut' (Life Four Cuts) photo booths only available here,
along with various photo studios offering different concepts.
It was a great way to make memories and take beautiful pictures.

5. Sokcho Souvenir Shop Tour
Sokcho is home to many charming and pretty souvenir shops,
but the one that perfectly suited my personal taste was
Hodu Japwhajeom (Hodu General Store).
There was so much to see and so much to buy—
keyrings, accessories, household goods, dishes, and more—
making it absolutely perfect for picking up gifts!
If you're going with your significant other, you absolutely must visit a souvenir shop.
You'll find time just flies by as you browse!
📍 Heehee Hyomhyom
2nd Floor, 17 Saemaeul 9-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province
📍 Gonyang-golmok 415
1st Floor, 62 Saemaeul-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province
📍 Hodu Japwhajeom
1st Floor, Hodu Japwhajeom, 10 Saemaeul 6-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province

5. Sokcho Lighthouse Beach
If you successfully bought Dakgangjeong from the market,
I highly recommend enjoying it at
Lighthouse Beach, which is only a 5-minute drive away.
Here’s a pro tip: you can lie or sit on the flat wooden platforms (pyeongsang) for free on this beach.
I spread out my mat and savored my delicious Dakgangjeong while gazing at the ocean.
If you visit the market and then want to see the beach,
this is the perfect travel course!

6. Sokcho Eye Ferris Wheel
If you're planning to ride the Ferris wheel, here's a tip:
it's best to go between 7-8 PM.
During that time, you can witness the beautiful sunset over the sea,
allowing you to appreciate the East Sea even more splendidly.
The atmosphere, the scenery – absolutely everything was perfect.
📍 Sokcho Eye Ferris Wheel
2 Cheonghohaean-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province
📍 88 Saengseongui (Grilled Fish)
71 Jungangboodu-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province

Afterward, I walked along Sokcho Beach, enjoyed the night sea view,
and finally, savored a delicious 'Saengseon-kase' (grilled fish omakase) at 88 Saengseongui before heading home.
And just like that, I checked off all the hot spots
and had a truly fulfilling 1-night, 2-day trip!
