04. Observatory Review
Since the observatory is located near Nagoya Station,
I timed my visit for when I was heading back from my day trip to Inuyama—
the route lined up perfectly! ~
It would also be super convenient to head here right after getting dropped off
from the popular Shirakawa-go tour.

Once you step inside the building,
the signs leading to the observatory are super clear!
Just follow the arrows to get there~

Take the dedicated observatory elevator
straight up to the 42nd floor~

You know the best part about going to an observatory?
Watching the view unfold from a glass elevator!
My heart was already racing as I caught glimpses of the city lights on the way up!!

Stepping off on the 42nd floor, the "Sky Promenade" sign immediately caught my eye!
I followed the arrows right to the ticket booth.
There were staff members at the ticket counter,
and since we had booked in advance,
we just showed our voucher and walked right in.

Then, we hopped on the escalator
to head up to the 46th-floor observation deck.

We finally arrived at the observatory!
Looking at the photos beforehand, I thought it was completely indoors,
but it's actually an open-air, semi-outdoor deck!!

I thought the design was so cool and unique—
you start at the top, enjoy the night view, and wind your way down
a sloped path to the lower floor.

This is what the night view looks like!
Standing right in the heart of Nagoya and taking in the sprawling city skyline
felt absolutely magical.
Since Nagoya's observatories aren't quite as famous
as the ones in Tokyo or Osaka, I didn't have high expectations,
but the sparkling, multi-layered city views were absolutely stunning.

When I went to the observatory in Sapporo,
I kept thinking, "Is this really worth it...?"
But here, the layout of the observatory is so unique,
and if you love city nightscapes,
I think it's definitely worth visiting at least once!

While sunset or daytime would surely be beautiful,
since it's located right in the heart of a major city,
taking in the glowing city lights at night
seems to be the absolute best way to experience it!~

If you look closely, you can even spot Nagoya Castle and Mirai Tower,
so hunting for these iconic landmarks is super fun!!

Taking photos is a must when you visit an observatory, right?~~
While simply snapping photos against the skyline is beautiful,

posing at the various photo spots scattered around
will make for some wonderful memories!📷

On the lower floor, there's a cozy seating area with sofas,
so you can sit back and relax.
Lounging while watching the glittering night view
will feel like pure, healing bliss on your journey.
Unlike famous observatories in other cities,
it’s not overcrowded, so the fact that you can enjoy the view in peace and quiet
is a massive plus.

Just a heads-up: since it's high up and open-air, it gets quite chilly.
I highly recommend bringing a light jacket!
(I wished I had brought one so I could have stayed longer!)

On my way down, I participated in their social media event
and got a cute souvenir.
If you love collecting travel souvenirs,
make sure you don't miss out!
You can join near the entrance on the way to the ticket booth~

It is located about a 5 to 10-minute walk across from Nagoya Station, in the building with a Loewe store on the first floor. Take the observatory elevator inside the building to the 42nd floor, where you will find the ticket office.

It is a semi-outdoor, open-air observatory with an open roof located on the 46th floor. Because it is high up and outdoors, it can be windy and cold, so we recommend bringing a light jacket.
