Single O: Sydney's Iconic Coffee Destination

Before our trip to Sydney, Australia, there were a few places we absolutely had to visit.
Among them were the 'Big Three' coffee hotspots.
As passionate coffee lovers, my husband and I were incredibly curious to experience Australia's renowned coffee culture!
Today, I'm thrilled to introduce you to 'Single O', a spot I highly recommend as an essential stop on your Sydney adventure!

Single O cafe is conveniently located in the vibrant Surry Hills area.
Since it was close to our accommodation, we enjoyed a leisurely walk to grab our morning coffee.
Just a heads up, they open at 7:00 AM on weekdays and 8:00 AM on weekends.
Closing times are quite early, between 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM, which is different from many cafes back home in the US, so keep that in mind when planning your Sydney itinerary.
Cafe Atmosphere
Single O offers seating both indoors and outdoors.
Inside, you'll find a hip, wood-toned interior that feels really modern and inviting.
Seeing so many locals there bright and early confirmed its reputation as a top-notch coffee spot!
We decided to grab our coffees to-go, so we headed straight to the ordering counter.
Outside, there's a cool waiting area and a stylish spot to enjoy your takeaway coffee!
The vibrant mural perfectly complements the cafe's vibe, creating a really artsy and memorable atmosphere that we loved!

Single O's menu can be a little different from what you might expect, which can be a bit confusing at first.
For their famous Flat White, look under the 'White' section. If you're after an Americano, you'll find it as a 'Black' coffee or as a 'Filter' or 'Cold Brew' from the 'On Tap' selection.

We ordered one Flat White and one On Tap Filter Coffee.

For the On Tap Filter Coffee, I got to pour my own cup, which was a unique, self-serve experience!
I chose the Kenya Gichatha By Gikanda Farmers coffee, and it was exceptional.
Reviewing Single O's Coffee
First, the Filter Coffee had a subtle acidity that really brought out the rich flavor of the beans.
It was a delicious black coffee that I think anyone would enjoy.
But what I was truly excited for was the Flat White!
The creaminess of the milk combined with the exquisite beans created a flavor profile unlike any Flat White I've had in the US.
It was clear why this is considered one of Sydney's top coffee spots.
If you're a fan of lattes or milk-based coffees, you absolutely must try Single O's Flat White.
I've shared my experience visiting Single O, one of Sydney's 'Big Three' coffee shops.
With its early opening hours, it's perfect for a morning pick-me-up, and the coffee quality is outstanding, making it a truly worthwhile cafe to visit.
And seriously, while their black filter coffee is good, you absolutely *have* to order the Flat White here – it's phenomenal!
