Singapore Zoo

📍Singapore Zoo = Mandai Wildlife Reserve |
The official name of the Singapore Zoo area is the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, and it is literally designed as a natural habitat where wild animals can thrive naturally.

The reserve is divided into five distinct themed zones: Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, Night Safari, Bird Paradise, and Rainforest Wild Adventure.
While you can enter each of the five parks individually, buying a multi-park pass gives you access to the zones at more than 50% off.

Singapore Zoo 1
The best way to secure your tickets is to purchase them through Klook, an official online booking partner.
If you grab a Klook Multi-Park Pass, there's no need to print physical tickets—you can enter directly using the QR code on your digital voucher.
❗️Buying on-site is much more expensive, so I highly recommend booking in advance!❗️

Singapore Night Safari

Since the Mandai Wildlife Reserve is so massive, trying to explore all five parks in a single day can be quite exhausting.
That's why it's a great idea to buy a multi-park pass and aim to visit just two or three zones to enjoy them fully.

Singapore Zoo 2
Among them, the absolute must-visit zone is the Night Safari!
Holding the title of the world's first-ever nocturnal zoo, the Night Safari opens its gates at 6:30 PM as the sun begins to set.
You get to ride the open-air safari tram, moving quietly through the dark to observe the animals in their element. It's incredibly thrilling to glide past with no barriers in the dim evening light!

The lighting is kept at an absolute minimum to let visitors experience the wild animals' natural night environment, which adds a mysterious, exciting tension.
It almost felt like we were sneakily peeking into the secret lives of the animals, haha.

Singapore Zoo 3
Once it gets pitch black, it can be a bit harder to spot the animals, so it's best to reserve a spot on the very first tram at 7:15 PM.
This is the most popular time slot, so booking in advance is absolutely essential!
You can easily reserve your slot by clicking the link provided in your Klook voucher.

In addition to the safari tram ride, the Night Safari zone also features a spectacular live show.
In a massive outdoor amphitheater, various animals showcase their natural talents in a fun performance. Since it's highly interactive and involves the audience, it's incredibly engaging, haha.

At the end, even a hyena makes an appearance, so this is definitely a show you can't miss! 💛
Singapore Zoo Review

Singapore Zoo 4
During the day, you can choose from four different theme parks depending on which animals you want to see most!
We decided to visit both the Singapore Zoo and River Wonders, and both had their own unique charm and were so much fun!

What makes the Mandai wildlife parks so special isn't just their massive scale—it's the open zoo concept! Instead of depressing cages or concrete walls, they use natural barriers like deep moats, trees, and rocks.
We even got to experience orangutans swinging right above our heads—it was absolutely incredible!

From familiar favorites to exotic creatures we'd never seen before, there was so much variety that we completely lost track of time.

Singapore Zoo 5
I was especially excited to see the giant pandas, so we headed to River Wonders. Finding cute little red pandas there too made my day! 💛

There's so much more to do than just look at the animals. The shows are fantastic, especially the Splash Safari show featuring the California sea lion, which was packed with amazing tricks and super-engaging performances by the keepers!
Even as an adult, I was completely mesmerized. I can only imagine what a magical experience this would be for kids!

Getting to see the animals up close makes this place a huge hit for visitors of all ages! :)

Each themed zone also had plenty of adorable souvenirs to browse.
There were so many unique items you won't find anywhere else, including exclusive Mandai Wildlife Reserve merchandise. It was super fun to shop around!
⭐️ Pro Tips for Your Visit ⭐️

Because the Mandai wildlife parks are massive, blindly wandering around will drain your energy in no time. That's why planning your route in advance is a must.
First, download the Mandai App! It gives you an interactive map and tracks your real-time location.
It also shares detailed information, showtimes, and helpful tips, which made navigating a breeze. It even shows the locations and types of restaurants available!

Second, make full use of the guided trams! Trying to walk across these huge parks in Singapore's hot and humid weather is a recipe for exhaustion.
Since tram rides are usually included in multi-park tickets, don't hesitate to hop on if your destination is a bit far. Save your energy for the animals!

Lastly, once your travel dates are locked in, book your animal encounters and experiences as early as possible.
If you're traveling with kids, booking animal feeding sessions in advance is highly recommended. The popular slots sell out fast, sometimes 1 to 2 months ahead! ㅠㅠ

We recommend booking the very first tram at 7:15 PM, as it might be difficult to see the animals once it gets completely dark. Since this time slot is the most crowded, booking in advance is a must.
You can see pandas and red pandas in the River Wonders zone, one of the 5 themed zones. Visiting it along with the Singapore Zoo during the day allows you to meet a wide variety of unique animals.
It is highly recommended to download the Mandai app to check the map and restaurant locations, and plan your route in advance. Additionally, utilizing the internal tram pass included in the multi-park ticket will help you save energy while moving around the expansive reserve.
