1. How to Reserve a Spot at Ye Shanghai, a Must-Visit Shanghai Restaurant

If you're traveling in Shanghai
and looking for a special Michelin-starred restaurant,
I highly recommend Ye Shanghai in Xintiandi, specializing in Peking Duck.
Ye Shanghai is a Chinese restaurant in Shanghai that has received Michelin recognition for 7 consecutive years.

so even on weekday lunchtimes,
the wait can be quite long.

To dine without any wait,
advance reservations are a must!
The reservation process is super simple,
so just follow along!

3. Opening Hours & Waiting Tips

✔️ Opening Hours - 11:00 AM - 2:30 PM
5:00 PM - 9:30 PM
✔️ Break Time - 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM
If you missed your Shanghai Ye Shanghai reservation,
we recommend visiting between
11:00 AM - 11:30 AM when they first open.
Alternatively, visit between
5:00 PM - 5:30 PM when the break time ends!

The space is actually quite spacious,
with plenty of seating.
In fact, when I visited on a weekday at
11:30 AM,
I was able to enter without any waiting.
3. Shanghai Ye Shanghai Menu Recommendations & Prices

If you're at Shanghai Ye Shanghai,
you absolutely must indulge in their Peking Duck.
Peking Duck is available in half or whole portions.
For two people, a half portion is plenty!
If you're a party of three, we recommend a half portion + an additional dish!
<📌Ye Shanghai Menu Recommendations>
Menu | Price (USD) |
Peking Duck Half / Whole | ~$25 / ~$45 |
Xiao Long Bao (4 pieces) | ~$6 |
Crab Noodle Soup | ~$9 |
Mapo Tofu | ~$12 |
Cucumber Salad | ~$6 |
Tsingtao Bottled Beer | ~$4 |
When I visited with three people,
we ordered Xiao Long Bao, Crab Noodle Soup,
a half portion of Peking Duck, and one bottled beer.
I initially tried to order a whole duck,
but the staff member told me it would be too much and
recommended just a half portion!

After eating, the portion size was
actually perfect,
but that's probably because we had eaten something right before.
If you're looking for a full meal, I'd definitely recommend
ordering another main dish along with it.

While many people, like us, ordered individual dishes,
there were also many who were enjoying a course meal
with their parents.
If you pre-book the course meal from Korea,
you can get a discount at a slightly cheaper price,
and there's no need for a separate Chinese app reservation! ❌
You can check out the Ye Shanghai course meal information
here :)
4. Shanghai Michelin-Starred Restaurant Ye Shanghai: My Honest Review (Paid by Me)
Shanghai Ye Shanghai is close to Xintiandi and the French Concession,
making it a great place to visit together.

People often visit Xintiandi for the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea,
and it's perfect to go there early in the morning and then head for a meal.
We made a reservation in advance using the Dazhong Dianping app.

We arrived around 12:30 PM,
and a waiting line was just starting to form.
Luckily, since I had a reservation,
I was able to go straight in.

The scale was larger than I expected, and
there were plenty of seats, making it very pleasant.
It's definitely a popular Shanghai restaurant
among Korean tourists, and
there were also many people visiting with their parents.

This shows just how upscale and clean the place was.
✔️ Half Peking Duck (half size)
✔️ 4 Xiaolongbao
✔️ Crab Noodle Soup
✔️ 1 bottle of Tsingtao Beer
This is what we ordered.
The dishes took about 10 minutes, maybe?
to arrive.
\

For the Peking duck, a staff member
came directly to our table to perform
a carving show.

Photos are a must!!
You take the thin wrappers, like crepes,
add sauce, cucumber, green onion, and Peking duck,
then eat it all together.
It truly had no gamey smell whatsoever and was wonderfully crispy.

If Peking duck isn't prepared well,
it can have a strong gamey smell and be quite greasy,
but this Yé Shanghai definitely
lives up to its Michelin reputation.
It's clean and free of any gamey odors.

Just when the Peking duck started to feel a little rich,
a glass of beer was absolutely perfect.

I officially declare this a must-visit spot for Peking duck in Shanghai!

The Xiaolongbao were incredibly delicious, bursting with rich broth.
👍👍👍
Place it on your spoon, gently pierce it,
let it cool a bit, and then enjoy!

And finally, the Crab Noodle Soup!
Shanghai is famous for its crab,
so there are many dishes featuring crab.
Among them, crab noodle soup
is a very popular choice.
However, since it's seafood,
some people might find it a bit fishy.

Yé Shanghai's crab noodle soup
comes in a mini size,
which is great for trying a bite
to see if you like it.
The crab noodle soup
had a rich, deep crab aroma
that filled my mouth—it was perfectly my style.
We ordered all these dishes, and the total came to approximately..., but
if you were to eat this in Korea, it would easily be over ~$73,
whereas here, **it was only about ~$15 per person**, so
we ate really well for a fantastic price.
👍👍👍 Good!
6. Wrapping Up

This time, my visit to Yé Shanghai in Shanghai
was so satisfying that I'd call it
a must-do on any Shanghai itinerary.
The fact that I could enjoy Peking duck,
which isn't common in Korea, **at an affordable price,**
**and at a Michelin-starred restaurant at that,**
really elevated my satisfaction.

For the popular
Yé Shanghai in Shanghai, reservations
are essential!!!
I highly recommend making sure to check for availability and reserving
before your visit.

feel free to leave a comment :)
