China Southern Shanghai Flight Review 2026: Trip.com Deals & Tips

Last week, I made a trip to Shanghai, China.

My main goal? To catch the 2026 Shanghai Masters tennis tournament live! 🎾

First things first, I booked my flight to Shanghai!

You know how it goes with flight prices – the moment you decide to travel is often

when you find the best deals, right?

We searched for the cheapest Shanghai flights and, sure enough,

Trip.com, specializing in China travel, was the clear winner, so we booked right away.

I went before I had a discount code, but

The Shanghai flight tickets we purchased through Trip.com were

with China Southern Airlines.

Since we traveled during a peak holiday period that included a public holiday,

I think it was around ~$450 per person.

And that was the lowest price we could find!!!

For a regular weekend trip, it won't be this expensive, and the flight time is short,

so I highly recommend a trip to Shanghai 👍🏻

I tried to do online mobile check-in, but it didn't work. After some research, I found that

everyone said you have to do it in person at the airport counter.

So we also proceeded with check-in at the airport counter.

China Southern Airlines counters are located in Incheon Airport Terminal 1.

The gates are in the Concourse, so it's a good idea to arrive a bit early.

Also, check-in closes not 1 hour before, but 1 hour and 20 minutes before boarding,

so pay attention to that‼️

Off to Shanghai with China Southern Airlines, booked via Trip.com ✈️

You can expect the flight time to be around 2 hours.

Come to think of it, I flew with China Southern Airlines on my last Shanghai trip too, I believe! lol

The aircraft we boarded had a 3-3-3 seat configuration.

The seat pitch was decent,

but the couple in front of us reclined their seats even before takeoff.

We checked in a bit late, so we were assigned seats apart from each other.

My seat was a bulkhead seat, which was spacious enough to stretch my legs comfortably,

so I gave it to my partner.

(He had a fractured cheekbone at the time... TMI)

Anyway, there was an empty seat right next to that bulkhead seat, you know?

It would have been great if they'd given us both front row seats, but they deliberately separated us;;;

By the way, we bought Balvenie at the duty-free shop,

but when returning to Korea, you have to check it in as hold luggage🥃

After checking in with China Southern Airlines, we've boarded! 🛫

Even with the short flight time to Shanghai,

China Southern Airlines provides an in-flight meal.

I woke up from sleeping just to eat the meal LOL

Rice, grilled eel, pumpkin salad, bread, and butter were served.

The China Southern Airlines in-flight meal was actually quite good haha!

They also gave water, but what was surprising was that they offered Melona! 🍈

Finally, we've arrived in Shanghai!!!

As soon as we arrived, there was a Shanghai Masters poster right at the airport 🎾

Looks like we picked the right time to come~~~

After flying with China Southern Airlines, we've arrived at Shanghai Pudong Airport Terminal 2!

I filled out the new China entry declaration form in advance in Korea

and even saved the QR code, but I didn't really need to use it.

There might have been a separate line for QR codes, and I just didn't know about it!!!

Shanghai Masters again, right at the airport~~~

Famous players like Alcaraz and Djokovic were eliminated early,

so I'm proud that my timing was perfect for this trip LOL

It seems Zverev also got eliminated today..

Medvedev is also losing right now..
