1st Floor Lobby

When you walk into the Shanghai Joyful Yard Hotel,
you'll see the check-in desk right across
from the elevator shown in the photo.

And right behind that is the breakfast area.
By the way, breakfast at Shanghai Joyful Yard Hotel
runs from 5:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
It's absolutely perfect for grabbing a quick bite early in the morning
before catching the shuttle straight to Disneyland!
As always, I'll share a separate dedicated post all about the breakfast! ✨

You can grab your extra amenities on the 1st floor.
They are located near the restaurant entrance,
and the staff will kindly remind you during check-in,
so you won't have to worry about missing them.
In terms of communication, there was a slight language barrier as neither of us spoke perfect English,
but we managed to get through the check-in process smoothly using gestures and vibes!
Even though I arrived in the wee hours of the morning,
the staff welcomed me so warmly, which made my night.

We were assigned a room on the 4th floor and took the elevator up.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, this beautiful space welcomed us!
Honestly, since it costs around ~$35 to ~$41 per night
and includes a Disneyland shuttle, airport shuttle, and breakfast,
I booked it expecting a very basic budget stay
without setting my expectations too high.
But the moment I stepped out of the elevator, I was seriously wowed! haha.
The only bummer was that all the books were in Chinese, so I couldn't read them.

The hallway was super clean and neat too! 💙
Room Condition

I didn't turn on the TV even once, but it was surprisingly large,
and having a mini table with two chairs
was perfect for enjoying late-night snacks from the convenience store with my sibling.

The bed was super soft and cozy, which I loved!

There was a power outlet right next to the bed,
which was convenient for charging our phones overnight.
However, there weren't many other accessible outlets in the room,
so this bedside one was pretty much
the only practical outlet we could use.
Of course, this might vary depending on the room! haha.
The limited number of outlets was the only slight downside of our stay...

They also provide bathrobes and plenty of hangers,
making it super easy to hang up all our clothes.

An electric kettle was provided, which seemed perfect for brewing a quick cup of tea or coffee,
but after hearing all those horror stories about hotel kettles abroad...
I decided to skip it! Haha.
Bathroom

The bathroom was also surprisingly spacious, which was great.
The water pressure was perfectly fine, and the bathroom mirror
actually had a bright built-in LED lighting feature!
I liked everything about it, but the amenities smelled a bit off
and didn't leave my hair feeling very clean,
so I just ended up using my own shampoo. Haha.

They provided a fresh bottle of water daily,
and surprisingly, they also provided earplugs!
Personally, I didn't find the room noisy at all.
Of course, since we arrived around 3 or 4 AM on the first night
and spent the second day exhausting ourselves at Disneyland, we slept right through,
but either way, we didn't notice any external noise while sleeping.
So we didn't even need to use the earplugs.
Honestly, my sibling's snoring was by far the loudest sound. 😂

The provided slippers were so paper-thin that they were a bit uncomfortable to walk in.
If you have a bit of spare room in your luggage,
I'd highly recommend packing your own slippers!

✔︎ Wrapping Up: Shanghai Joyful Yard Hotel
An Amazing, Budget-Friendly Stay near Pudong Airport
I originally booked this hotel solely because of the Disneyland shuttle
and the free airport shuttle transfers.
With rates averaging just ~$35 to ~$41 per night including breakfast,
I was expecting a very basic, average experience.
But I was so pleasantly surprised! The breakfast was decent, the shuttle service was incredibly smooth,
and the staff greeted us with warm smiles every morning,
making our stay incredibly pleasant.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone searching for a budget-friendly option near Pudong Airport!
