Getting to Jing'an Temple is super easy! Just take Subway Line 2 or 7 and get off at Jing'an Temple Station. If you're coming from Nanjing East Road, it's about a 20-minute ride. For those not quite comfortable with the subway system yet, a taxi is always a convenient option.

Jing'an Temple is nestled right in the heart of Nanjing West Road, surrounded by towering skyscrapers. This makes the temple stand out dramatically, a truly unique sight even from a distance.

Inside the Mahavira Hall of Jing'an Temple, you'll find an awe-inspiring Sakyamuni Buddha statue, standing at an impressive 28.9 feet tall and weighing nearly 16.5 short tons. This magnificent statue is truly the main draw, and I was so bummed to have missed seeing it up close because the temple was closed. I just lingered outside before having to leave ㅠㅠㅠ

While many of the buildings have been restored rather than being original ancient structures, Jing'an Temple is beautiful at any time of day. However, it's particularly stunning around sunset and truly comes alive with its illuminated night view.

You can comfortably explore the temple in about 30 minutes to an hour. It's a fantastic spot to combine with some shopping on Nanjing West Road or a visit to a nearby café, making for a perfect half-day itinerary.

The entrance fee is 50 Chinese Yuan (approximately ~$7). Be sure to visit during operating hours so you can explore the interior. Since it was inconvenient for me to return, I settled for admiring the exterior and then explored other attractions in the vicinity.

Right next to Jing'an Temple, you'll find a massive shopping mall. Tucked away in a small alley beside the mall, there are street vendors, various restaurants, and even a Luckin Coffee. However, even this area tends to quiet down significantly after 8 PM.

Once you've finished exploring the temple area, consider crossing the main road to get a fantastic panoramic view of Jing'an Temple from the opposite side. It offers a different perspective that's equally captivating.

As I wandered, I spotted a cool dome-shaped building and discovered it was an Apple Store!

So, that was my 'failed' Jing'an Temple visit story! Since it closes earlier than you might expect, avoid evening visits. Aim for around 3-4 PM to ensure you can explore the interior. Also, there's a fantastic local noodle spot nearby – check out my review linked below and save it to your map for later!
