If it's your first time visiting Shanghai,
I highly recommend booking your accommodation **near Nanjing East Road.**
It's super convenient for taking the subway,
and you can easily walk to amazing restaurants, shopping spots, and even massage parlors,
which made planning my itinerary so much easier.
Among the many options, I stayed at the
Grand Central Hotel Shanghai's Deluxe Twin Room, a popular choice among Korean travelers.
I'll be sharing my review of the stay, covering everything from the room and bathroom to breakfast, the swimming pool,
and even how to use Meituan for delivery!
+ Plus, I'll share a special tip to get a 10% discount on your stay!
1. Nanjing East Road Hotel Recommendation

The biggest reason I chose Grand Central Hotel Shanghai was, of course,
its **prime location.**
It's only about a **5-minute walk to Nanjing East Road Station**,
and it connects directly to the Nanjing East Road Pedestrian Street,
making it super easy to get to and from the hotel, day or night.
Nearby, there were many fantastic restaurants I wanted to try, like **Xiaoyang Shengjian, Lailai Xiaolong,**
and **Han Jiu Yi Qian**.
Right across from the hotel, in the Radisson Collection Hyland building,
there's also **Doyouhyang Massage**. It was perfect to unwind there after a long day of sightseeing
and then just walk back to the hotel.

Another surprisingly useful feature was that
**the hotel lobby served as the meeting point for the Wuzhen Water Town tour.**
The tour I booked had its pick-up right there,
at the Grand Central Hotel lobby,
so I didn't have to bother traveling to another location early in the morning.
Also, when catching a **Didi taxi, it was great that there was a space right in front of the hotel**
**where cars could easily pull up.**
In Shanghai, it can sometimes be tricky to find places to stop on certain roads,
so being able to get in and out of a taxi right at the hotel lobby
turned out to be a much bigger advantage than I expected.👍🏻
2. Grand Central Hotel Shanghai Twin Room

The room I stayed in was a **Deluxe Twin Room.**
With a size of approximately 37㎡,
right from the moment I opened the door,
it felt more spacious than typical city hotels.
Even with two double beds,
the space between them and around the room didn't feel cramped at all.
It was quite roomy for two adults,
and there's even space for an additional child to stay.

I brought two 28-inch suitcases,
and even with both of them open in the room,
it didn't really hinder movement.

The bathroom was also spacious, proportionate to the room size.
When you step inside, **there's a shower booth and toilet on one side,**
**and a separate bathtub on the opposite side.**

Having separate areas for washing made it less crowded when two people were getting ready simultaneously,
and I thought it would be great for staying with parents too.
When I made my reservation, it was around ~$150 per night.
Depending on your travel dates, you can find rates **as low as ~$75 per night!**
For a 5-star hotel with a room size like this,
I definitely felt it offered great value for the price.

3. Detailed Room Review

Inside the room, there was a spacious desk, perfect for
using a laptop.
I actually ordered delivery quite often via Meituan,
and when the food arrived, I'd spread it out on the desk,
pulling the sofa over to use it most frequently for late-night snacks. 😋

A TV and refrigerator were also standard.
I opened the mini-bar,
and it was pretty funny to find even Chamisul (Korean soju) available in a Chinese hotel. Haha.

Inside the closet, there was an iron and ironing board,
as well as slippers and even an umbrella.
The slippers, in particular, weren't the thin, disposable kind;
they were thick and plush,
definitely giving off a 5-star hotel vibe.

There was also a separate vanity area in front of the bathroom,
which was great because I didn't have to monopolize the bathroom mirror in the morning
and could do my makeup there instead.
The hairdryer looked similar to a Dyson,
and despite its size, the airflow was quite powerful,
so drying my hair wasn't a hassle.

In the shower booth and at the sink,
basic bathroom amenities were provided,
so there was no need to bring my own.
4. Breakfast, Pool, and Delivery

Breakfast at Grand Central Shanghai
is served at the 1st-floor cafe.
Breakfast hours are
from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM daily,
and it's a buffet-style meal featuring both Chinese and Western dishes.
(Breakfast Price: CNY 182 per adult)
If you're traveling with your parents
or prefer not to scramble for a restaurant first thing in the morning,
I highly recommend booking a room that includes breakfast!

There's also an indoor swimming pool,
making it a popular facility for families with children
who stay here.
The swimming pool is open from 6:30 AM
until 11:00 PM,
and it's an indoor heated pool available all year round.

The fitness center, just like the pool,
operates from 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM.
It has treadmills, cycles, and even weight training equipment,
making it perfect for those who want to work out while traveling.

And while traveling in Shanghai,
one service I used extensively was Meituan delivery.
The Grand Central Hotel Shanghai
has a designated space in the 1st-floor lobby for delivery items,
so there was no need to have the delivery driver come up to the room.
If you order fruits or food in advance before heading back to your Shanghai accommodation after a day out,
you can pick them up as soon as you arrive and head up to your room—a total lifesaver! 👍🏻
