From Incheon Airport, it usually takes about 2 hours one-way to Pudong Airport. But since I live in Jeju, the flight from Jeju International Airport to Shanghai Pudong International Airport is only about 1 hour and 30 minutes! It's so quick that I treat Shanghai like a domestic trip, similar to visiting Seoul, and I've been enjoying it frequently.
Whenever I fly on an international airline, especially one I'm not familiar with, it's always a mix of excitement and a little bit of worry. But I was pleasantly surprised! The aircraft's condition was better than I expected, and the flight attendants were incredibly kind and attentive. Even flying with my parents, all my initial worries completely disappeared.

After wrapping up my short 2-night, 3-day trip to China and boarding China Eastern Airlines for my flight from Pudong Airport to Jeju Airport, the first thing I noticed was how surprisingly comfortable and clean the cabin felt.

What's more, even though it was a short-haul route, when I booked and boarded my flight to Jeju, the flight attendants greeted us with bright, friendly smiles after boarding, and each passenger even received a complimentary bottle of clean bottled water.

I heard snacks or in-flight meals are served,
but since it was a shorter route, it seems only water was available.
On our last day of the trip,
we chatted away while enjoying the Chinese tangerines
we got as dessert from a Chinese restaurant, and before we knew it,
we were back in Jeju.
I booked during the off-peak season, so a round trip was
only about ~$138 per person.
It was so affordable, I almost wondered if it was an international flight
or a domestic one!
The seats were also very clean.
My mom and dad, who are both around 165 cm (5'5") tall,
had plenty of legroom in front of their knees.
It wasn't just for our Shanghai trip, but also for my son, who is a middle schooler,
about 183 cm (6'0") tall, and always worries about space on budget airlines.
He sat in a standard economy seat, usually in the middle section, and found it quite comfortable,
with his knees barely touching the seat in front.

So, if you just prepare the essential apps, you can have a wonderfully fulfilling trip,
even if you're traveling independently or planning a trip for your parents!

let me introduce some must-visit attractions.
First, in the evening, take a stroll along the Bund, Shanghai's iconic landmark,
where European-style modern architecture lines the Huangpu River.
Then, walk along the riverside to see the Oriental Pearl TV Tower – it's an absolute must-see!
My parents also loved a morning walk through Yu Garden, a place brimming with 400 years of history.
However, at night, the area around the garden transforms with a stunning nightscape of shops
and a variety of sights and delicious foods, so visiting in the evening is also highly recommended.
For accommodation, it's generally best to stay around Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street.
It's where many famous restaurants are concentrated,
and its central location makes it incredibly convenient for getting to major tourist attractions.
Beyond that, there's Xintiandi,
a sophisticated cultural complex that houses the historic site of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea.
If you have some extra time,
I highly recommend visiting Wukang Road, a charming European-inspired street
lined with romantic plane trees from the former French Concession,
and its landmark, Wukang Mansion.
If you're traveling with children, it's a great idea to dedicate a day to visiting Disneyland.
If you're with your partner or friends,
booking a charming bus tour to a water town near the city would be a wonderful experience.
My parents also really enjoyed using their evening to watch a performance at the Shanghai Circus World.
What's more, with countless amazing restaurants everywhere,
including Michelin-starred ones, I believe that even if you just come for a foodie trip to Shanghai
on an affordable international flight, you'll have a incredibly rewarding itinerary.
