Early Bird Deals for Shanghai Disneyland Admission
By Travel Sun
Once upon a time, theme parks weren't really on my radar during international trips. That all changed after my visit to Hong Kong Disneyland – I became absolutely hooked on the magic! So, when planning my latest adventure to Shanghai, visiting Disneyland was a no-brainer.
And honestly, how could I miss out? Shanghai Disneyland is home to the world's very first Zootopia land, which just opened recently. It was an absolute must-see!
Shanghai Disneyland Early Bird Ticket Discounts

First things first: securing my Shanghai Disneyland tickets. As expected with any Disney park, admission can be a bit pricey. But don't worry, I did some digging to find the best deals and save some cash!
Here's a top tip: if you purchase your Shanghai Disneyland tickets at least 10 days in advance, you can often snag an early bird discount, saving you an extra 10%.
So, I highly recommend buying your tickets ahead of time before your trip to Shanghai!
| Ticket Price | Link |
Trip.com | ~$53 (1 person)
Klook | ~$111 (2 people + CNY120 F&B coupon)
MyRealTrip | ~$60 (1 person + CNY30 F&B coupon) |
Another smart way to save is to compare prices across different booking sites. After checking the early bird prices for Shanghai Disneyland tickets for my 2026 visit:
① Trip.com offered the best deal for a single ticket at ~$53.
(MyRealTrip included a food and beverage coupon, but the CNY30 coupon is only worth about ~$4, making Trip.com still the cheaper option overall).
② However, if you're traveling as a pair and want a food and beverage coupon, Klook's early bird ticket for two, which includes a CNY120 F&B coupon (worth about ~$16), is a fantastic choice.

Having only visited Hong Kong Disneyland before, I was a bit worried about the notorious long wait times. I even considered buying Premier Access for Shanghai Disneyland.
But during my visit, the longest I waited for any attraction was about 40 minutes, so I honestly don't think Premier Access is a necessity. Save your dollars!
How to Use Your Shanghai Disneyland Tickets

You'll need to pick up your Shanghai Disneyland admission tickets directly at the park entrance. Unlike some parks, they don't use QR codes for entry here.
Instead, you'll present your passport to verify your reservation and exchange it for your physical Shanghai Disneyland ticket. So, make sure your passport is with you when you visit!

Also, a heads-up: tripods are not allowed inside Shanghai Disneyland. Even small, compact ones are prohibited, so leave yours at your hotel.
And trust me, Shanghai Disneyland is massive! It can be a real challenge to find your way around and locate specific attractions.
Before you go, definitely download the official Shanghai Disney Resort app. It's a lifesaver! You can check attraction wait times, see your current location, find ride locations, and even get the schedule for the evening fireworks. Seriously, download it before you arrive!
Top Ride Recommendations at Shanghai Disneyland
I was incredibly lucky during my Shanghai trip, as there weren't many tourists, allowing me to experience most attractions with wait times as short as 5 minutes! It was amazing.
Here are my top ride recommendations from my diverse experiences at Shanghai Disneyland:

First up, Tron Lightcycle Power Run. I'm not entirely sure which movie Tron is from, but it's known for being one of the fastest rides at Disney parks, so I made it my first stop! You ride it like a motorcycle, and the speed genuinely surprised me.
They say it's one of the scarier rides at Disneyland, but I actually didn't find it too frightening. Still, it was a blast!
I rode another attraction right next to Tron, but it was just so-so, so I won't recommend it. I don't even remember its name!

Next, I headed straight to the Zootopia zone, expecting huge crowds. It was so charmingly decorated! The parking lot and traffic lights were just adorable, weren't they?
It felt like I stepped right into the Zootopia movie itself. This area is definitely a must-do at Shanghai Disneyland!

The main Zootopia ride felt like watching an entire movie! While you can use the single rider line to speed things up, I highly recommend waiting in the regular queue. There's so much to see and experience while you wait, it's part of the fun!

The Zootopia zone looks completely different at night, so try to visit both during the day and after dark. Personally, I thought it was even prettier at night.

Next up was Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure. And honestly? I enjoyed this even more than Zootopia! I was blown away by the sheer scale and incredible graphics.
If you visit Shanghai Disneyland, you absolutely HAVE to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. It's a game-changer.
I also had lunch here. The food wasn't amazing (a bit heavy on the spices for my taste), but getting to see Captain Jack Sparrow made it totally worth it!

Here are a few more quick recommendations:
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Recommended): The wait was a bit longer, but it was quite thrilling!

Roaring Rapids (Recommended): This is more thrilling than some other river rides I've been on, and you will absolutely get soaked! Raincoats are sold at nearby souvenir shops, but it feels a bit wasteful to buy one just for a single use.

Soaring Over the Horizon: This attraction lets you virtually fly over different countries around the world. If you have extra time, sure, give it a try, but it's not a top recommendation.

And then there's the Mickey show. It was warm and comfortable, and honestly, I found myself dozing off. If you're completely exhausted and need a place to rest, it's an option, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

I didn't get to see the parade because I was busy riding all the attractions, but I did encounter many adorable Disney characters!
Shanghai Disneyland isn't just about the rides; meeting Disney characters and soaking in the magical atmosphere made the experience even more special.

Shanghai Disneyland truly allowed me to reconnect with my inner child for a day! I highly recommend adding it to your Shanghai itinerary.
