The very first thing you need to visit Shanghai Disneyland
is, of course, your ticket!
There are several types of tickets available:
1-day tickets, early bird 1-day tickets, 1-day tickets + early entry,
1-day tickets + meal discount coupons, afternoon tickets, 2-day tickets, and more.
Among these, the most budget-friendly option is the early bird 1-day ticket.
As the name suggests, early bird tickets require advance booking,
so you'll need to purchase your ticket at least 10 days before your planned visit.
Disneyland ticket prices vary by date.
Disney itself categorizes seasons into 6 levels based on anticipated crowd levels,
and the more popular the day, the more expensive the ticket.

2. Zootopia
Shanghai Disneyland boasts many incredible sights,
but one must-visit spot is definitely Zootopia.
This is because Shanghai Disney is home to the world's first and only Zootopia-themed land.
Since it's incredibly popular, expect a wait even to enter the Zootopia-themed area itself.
The day I visited, the weather forecast predicted rain,
so there were fewer people, and I got in in just 20 minutes.
However, on busy days, you might have to wait about an hour.
So, if you're doing an open-run at Shanghai Disneyland,
it's best to head straight to the Zootopia theme area first.
You can enjoy the Zootopia theme even more vividly if you've seen the movie before your visit.
They also sell popcorn in a cute carrot-shaped container,
and popsicle-shaped ice cream,
which are perfect for a snack and make great photo props.

3. Recommended Attractions
Shanghai Disneyland is incredibly vast and always bustling with people,
so even if you stay all day, you might not get to ride many attractions.
To make sure your expensive ticket is worth every penny,
you should plan which rides you want to experience in advance.
I also highly recommend using DPA for at least one ride.
DPA stands for Disney Premier Access,
and you can think of it as a fast-track pass.
From the main screen of the Disneyland app,
select Premier Access,
purchase DPA for your desired ride,
and then show it to a cast member to enter via the express queue.

I've visited three Universal Studios parks
and two Disneyland parks, but Shanghai Disneyland's
Pirates of the Caribbean is the ultimate dark ride.
The concept is like sailing through the Pirates of the Caribbean movie itself,
fighting enemies as you go.
The quality of the screens and movements is absolutely stunning.
It was so thrilling and vivid,
it felt like I was truly diving in and out of the ocean.
I had such a blast that the waiting time felt totally worth it,
and I was so grateful to my friend for suggesting we ride Pirates of the Caribbean.

TRON Lightcycle Power Run -

This is Shanghai Disneyland's most popular ride,
with a concept of racing through a futuristic city on a lightcycle.
It offers a different kind of thrill than a traditional sit-down roller coaster.
Without a backrest or a full safety bar, it feels even more dynamic,
and the speed, approaching 100 km/h, adds to the exhilaration.
It was truly an impressively fun roller coaster.
If you love thrilling rides,
you absolutely, positively have to ride this!
✔️Zootopia: Hot Pursuit
Zootopia: Hot Pursuit
This ride is located inside Zootopia,
and it's currently Shanghai Disneyland's newest attraction.
Like Pirates of the Caribbean, it's a dark ride,
with a concept of chasing villains from the movie.
Thanks to the spectacular graphics, you get an immersive, vivid feeling,
as if you've stepped right into the movie.
However, personally, I found Pirates of the Caribbean to be more fun.

4. Fireworks & Illumination
The Shanghai Disneyland fireworks show takes place twice a day.
You can check the exact start times on the Disney app.

The Shanghai Disneyland fireworks show has
a first and a second viewing, and the content is almost identical for both.
So, if you don't have a special evening schedule,
I highly recommend watching the second showing at your leisure.
There are far fewer people at the second showing compared to the first,
so even if you arrive just 10 minutes before it starts,
you can still find a great spot near the Disney Castle.
The cheapest way to purchase a Shanghai Disneyland ticket is the Early Bird 1-Day Ticket. You must complete the purchase of this ticket at least 10 days before your planned visit date.
