and the sheer quality of thrill rides like TRON completely blew my mind.

I literally lost track of time exploring the park all day! haha

navigating DPA, and timing the parades

can feel a bit overwhelming.

Having just been there, I can promise that knowing a few key tips

beforehand will make your day so much smoother.

While you technically can buy tickets

at the gate on the day of your visit,

they frequently sell out during peak seasons.

These days, beyond the basic 1-day admission ticket,

there are 2-day passes and bundles that include DPA,

giving you plenty of flexible options

to match your itinerary.

The biggest dilemma for first-time visitors

is usually whether to buy DPA.

DPA stands for Disney Premier Access,

which is essentially a paid fast-track system

that lets you skip the regular lines for popular rides.

To be completely honest with you,

Shanghai Disneyland gets unbelievably crowded.

For top-tier attractions like Zootopia and TRON,

the standby wait time easily exceeds 100 minutes.

If you only have one day, getting DPA is a lifesaver for your sanity and stamina.

I booked a combo package that included TRON and Zootopia.

Drastically cutting down our wait times was the best decision we made to save our energy.

Especially if you're on a tight 1-day schedule,

having DPA significantly elevates your entire park experience.

2. What to Bring

The absolute most important thing to bring to Shanghai Disneyland is

your physical passport.

​

Seriously, do not forget this.

They don't just scan your ticket at the entrance;

they use your passport to verify your identity.

​

They will also take a photo of your face before letting you in,

so if you don't have your passport, you might be denied entry.

​

​

Once you're inside, they'll give you a paper ticket.

Register this in the official app, and your DPA will automatically sync.

From then on, whenever you go on a ride, you just scan your QR code

and the facial recognition system lets you through.

The technology here feels incredibly cutting-edge.

Here is my personal list of four essential items to pack:

You'll be constantly checking the official app and snapping photos,

so your phone battery will drain surprisingly fast.

Also, the midday sun can be quite harsh,

making the wait for the parade a bit exhausting without shade.

But on the flip side, the photos you get on a sunny day are absolutely unreal.

The Enchanted Storybook Castle near the entrance is breathtaking.

Every angle looks like it was pulled straight out of a movie.

I finally understood why so many people prioritize a full-blown photo session

the moment the park opens, rather than rushing to the rides! haha​

3. Zootopia

​

The area I was most hyped about at Shanghai Disneyland

was definitely the Zootopia themed land.

​

Honestly, even if you aren't a massive Disney fanatic,

your jaw will drop the moment you step inside.

It feels like they lifted the bustling metropolis

straight out of the animation and dropped it into the real world.

From the architectural details to the background music and props,

the level of immersion is off the charts.

It makes total sense why there's a literal stampede

heading straight here at rope drop.

​

Be warned, the signature attraction,

Zootopia: Hot Pursuit,

has incredibly long wait times.

​

The app might say 80 or 90 minutes,

but the queue is so massive it feels even longer.

It's easily one of the most popular rides in the entire park.

​

​

Thankfully, because we had DPA,

we breezed through the dedicated entrance.

We easily saved 1 to 2 hours right there.

As for the ride itself, the quality exceeded all my expectations.

​

​

The animatronics for Judy and Nick are incredibly fluid and lifelike,

and the trackless ride vehicles glide so smoothly

that you genuinely feel like you're part of a high-speed police chase.

The ride technology here is seriously impressive.

​

​

There are also countless photo ops scattered throughout the area,

so if you love taking pictures, time will fly by here.

The merchandise shops are dangerously cute,

but honestly, the prices are pretty steep! haha

I picked up a plushie, checked the tag, and quietly put it back down.

4. TRON

​

For me, the absolute highlight of the park was

the TRON Lightcycle Power Run.

It's located deep inside Tomorrowland,

and its sweeping, futuristic canopy catches your eye

from a mile away.

​

​

Instead of traditional coaster seats,

you straddle a lightcycle and lean forward like you're riding a real motorcycle.

The moment it launches, it is pure adrenaline.

​

​

You accelerate instantly, blasting out of the launch bay,

and the sensation of the wind hitting you as you speed along the track is intense.

​

​

If you are a roller coaster enthusiast,

this is an absolute must-do.

Lots of people ride it again at night

because the glowing neon lights under the canopy

make the experience even more epic.

​

​

While you're in the same area,

Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue is also surprisingly fun.

​

It's an interactive dark ride where you shoot targets with a laser blaster,

and it totally brings out your competitive side! haha

​

It's trickier than it looks, so you'll definitely end up battling your friends for the high score.

​

​

Overall, the attractions at Shanghai Disneyland

feel like a massive leap forward in theme park technology.

​

Instead of feeling like classic, older rides,

everything here screams state-of-the-art.

5. Parade

​

You absolutely cannot miss the

Mickey's Storybook Express parade.

You can check the daily schedule on the official app,

but it usually runs 1 to 2 times a day.

​

​

When I visited,

the parades were scheduled for 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

​

However, times can shift depending on the season,

so making a habit of checking the app as soon as you enter is your best bet.

Before the main parade kicks off,

there's an adorable pre-parade featuring Duffy and Friends.

At first, I actually thought this was the main event! haha

​

​

But the real magic happens right after.

Starting with Mickey and Minnie,

floats featuring characters from Toy Story, Tangled, and Frozen roll by,

creating an incredible festival atmosphere.

​

​

The crowd went absolutely wild when Judy and Nick made their appearance.

Everyone was scrambling to get their phones out for photos.

​

The parade passes by fairly quickly,

but once you experience it, you'll understand why people stake out spots so early.

​

​

And the grand finale to your day is, of course, the nighttime spectacular.

I was honestly debating whether to leave early because I was so exhausted,

but I pushed through to watch it.

If I had skipped it, I would have deeply regretted it.

The combination of projections mapped onto the castle and the fireworks

captures that classic Disney magic perfectly.
