If you're planning to visit Shanghai Disneyland during your trip to Shanghai, you're probably weighing these two big questions:
'What ticket types are there, and is there any way to get a discount?'
'Is TRON going to be too scary?'
If you've got these exact questions, let me walk you through everything from ticket types and discount booking tips to my honest TRON ride review!
Shanghai Disneyland Ticket Types
First, let's break down the different ticket types available at Shanghai Disneyland.

Tickets are broadly divided into General Admission and Disney Premier Access (DPA). Here is a quick breakdown of each type in the table below:
Ticket Category | Ticket Type | Ticket Details |
Admission Ticket | 1-Day Ticket | The essential ticket needed to enter Disneyland |
1.5-Day Ticket | Allows entry after 3:00 PM on the first day, plus full entry the next day
2-Day Ticket | Allows entry for two consecutive days
Disney Premier Access (DPA) | DPA 2 to 8 | An optional add-on that lets you skip the standby lines for 2 to 8 pre-selected attractions |

It might look a bit confusing with all these options, so let's simplify it.
The Admission Ticket is your mandatory base ticket to get inside Disneyland.
You can choose anywhere from a 1-day to a 2-day pass, so just pick whatever fits your travel itinerary best.
Ticket prices vary depending on the season, but they generally range from ~$64 to ~$83 for an adult ticket.

DPA (Disney Premier Access) is an optional add-on separate from your admission ticket. It allows you to skip the regular lines for 2 to 8 selected attractions, saving you tons of waiting time.
However, it is quite pricey, running around ~$13 to ~$19 per ride.
✅ Therefore, we highly recommend deciding whether to buy DPA by considering your travel dates (low vs. peak season) and who you're traveling with (kids vs. adults).
How to Book Discounted Shanghai Disneyland Tickets

As mentioned, Disneyland ticket prices have gone up quite a bit recently, and if you plan on adding DPA, the costs can really add up.

💡 That's why booking through an authorized booking agent like the one below is the best way to snag a sweet discount!
They run discounts and promotions regularly, so make sure to check out the link below to book your tickets.

The Crowd Favorite: TRON Lightcycle Power Run Review
Next up, let's talk about the second most popular ride at Shanghai Disneyland after Zootopia—the legendary TRON Lightcycle Power Run! Here is my honest review!

I visited the park on a Sunday using just a regular 1-Day Admission Ticket.
Because it was a weekend, TRON had long lines almost all day, so I kept a close eye on wait times using the official app.

The wait times hovered around a long 70 to 90 minutes all day,
but right when the parade was about to start,
I noticed the wait time dropped to 60 minutes.
I timed it perfectly and headed over to get in line!

Even so, the queue was absolutely massive,
stretching all the way outside the entrance of the TRON attraction.
Since I visited in March when the weather was relatively cool,
standing in line was totally manageable,
but I can't imagine doing this in the scorching summer heat!

After about 5 minutes, we finally reached the actual entrance building,
and I noticed a separate line on the left.
This was the dedicated TRON DPA (Disney Premier Access) lane.
I couldn't help but feel a little envious
watching people with DPA breeze right past the queue without waiting!

The inside of the TRON attraction has a dark, futuristic atmosphere
with some cool sci-fi visuals to check out as you walk.
But no matter how far we walked, the queue just kept going on and on.

The posted wait time was 60 minutes,
but in reality, we ended up waiting a bit over an hour.
Finally, it was our turn to board!
The ride vehicle is super unique—you lean forward
in a motorcycle-like posture to ride.

TRON was way faster than I expected,
and there's even a section where you loop all the way around.
I'm not usually a fan of intense thrill rides,
so the sheer speed made it hard to even keep my eyes open!
Whether it was because of the breakneck speed or the twisting tracks,
by the end of the ride,
I was feeling incredibly motion sick and nauseous.
Even after getting off, the dizziness was so intense
that it lasted for about an hour.
If you struggle with thrill rides
and are prone to motion sickness, definitely keep this in mind!

There's a gift shop right at the exit of TRON,
but since the franchise isn't as widely popular these days,
there weren't many souvenirs that really caught my eye.
Shanghai Disneyland: Summary & Final Tips

Today, I shared everything you need to know about Shanghai Disneyland tickets
and my honest review of the TRON attraction.
Let's wrap things up with a quick summary!
Disneyland tickets are divided into Standard Park Admission and DPA (Disney Premier Access).
The Admission Ticket is your essential pass to enter the park,
while DPA is an add-on pass to skip the long queues.
However, DPA can be quite pricey,
so it's highly recommended for those who hate waiting in long lines
or those traveling with young children.
TRON is incredibly popular, with wait times easily stretching over an hour,
but the actual ride time is
super short—only about a minute!
It's lightning-fast and has a lot of twists and turns, which left me feeling quite nauseous.
Keep this in mind when deciding
whether TRON is the right ride for you!
With that said, book your Shanghai Disneyland tickets below
and get ready for a magical, fun-filled adventure!
