Our 1-year anniversary trip to Shanghai, China is now just a month away! This past weekend, we finalized all our train tickets and other minor reservations. All that's left is to book our Shanghai Disneyland tickets, which is one of the most crucial parts of our Shanghai itinerary!

Since I was tasked with comparing prices across different platforms, I'll take this opportunity to give you a complete rundown of Shanghai Disneyland tickets.

Shanghai Disneyland is an absolute must-visit on any Shanghai travel itinerary. It's the 6th Disneyland globally and the 3rd in Asia, following Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Even though it wasn't the first in Asia, it boasts the title of Asia's largest theme park, spanning approximately 1.5 square miles (3.9 km2).

With diverse attractions like the world's first Zootopia-themed land and the thrilling TRON Lightcycle Power Run, it's an unmissable destination for anyone planning a trip to Shanghai.

And to think, I've missed out on this incredible Chinese travel experience all these years, always rushing straight to Hengdian to see my favorite actors! But not this time. I'm finally going!

So, you might assume I'd go for the "Early Entry Pass" to get in before the official opening, but unfortunately, that's not our plan this time around. Our hotel is incredibly luxurious, and we're planning to savor the morning with all its amenities. Because of this, my partner and I decided to head to Shanghai Disneyland a bit later in the afternoon.

Since early entry isn't an option for us, we're currently considering purchasing Shanghai Disneyland's DPA (Disney Premier Access) tickets.

However, our strategy isn't to buy the DPA for 3 or 6 rides. Instead, we're planning to purchase DPA specifically for TRON Lightcycle Power Run.

After reviewing countless experiences from those who entered in the afternoon like us, it seems that even popular attractions like TRON and Zootopia tend to have wait times of only 30-50 minutes in the evening.

While this is a much shorter wait compared to daytime, we concluded that buying DPA just for TRON, our most anticipated ride, wouldn't be too much of a splurge, especially in case the lines are longer than expected that day.💙

If you're someone who loves parades, you might wonder if DPA is even necessary.

For its 10th anniversary in 2026, Shanghai Disneyland has completely upgraded its parades and fireworks displays, offering plenty of spectacular sights even without focusing solely on rides.

We heard that Chinese actor Liu Yuning recently performed the 10th-anniversary song there – it sounds like quite the celebration!

With new outdoor stages also prepared, if the lines for popular rides get too long in the afternoon, you could always enjoy the shows and performances. Then, hit TRON or Zootopia in the evening when wait times typically drop, and cap off your perfect day with the dazzling fireworks display!

Just like our Universal Studios trip in January, where we managed to ride everything even with an afternoon entry, I'm confident we'll conquer Shanghai Disneyland with our strategy this time too!
