Shanghai Disneyland 2026: Tickets, DPA, & Fireworks Guide

Shanghai Disneyland is quite large, so it was better to decide on tickets, DPA, and which rides to go on beforehand, rather than going in without any preparation.

I entered with a DPA8 combination, and it definitely changed the number of rides I could experience in a day.

I'll cover everything from how to get to Shanghai Disneyland, ticket booking,

1. How to Get to Shanghai Disneyland

To get to Shanghai Disneyland, you can get off at Disney Resort Station on Metro Line 11.

From the city center, it takes about an hour by subway. I wanted to cut down on travel time and conserve energy, so I mostly used DiDi taxi!

(It took about 30 minutes and cost me over 100 yuan.)

They check your passport at the entrance before you can go in, so make sure to bring it. (You don't need to bring a voucher.)

With the app, you can check ride wait times and maps, use DPA, and confirm showtimes, so I recommend creating an account before you enter!

The competition for same-day DPA purchases for Zootopia and TRON is quite fierce, so if you definitely want to use DPA, I recommend buying it in advance.

2. Shanghai Disneyland Tickets

If you buy your Shanghai Disneyland ticket 10 days before your visit as an early bird, you can get up to 10% off, so it's best to purchase as early as possible once your schedule is set!

3. DPA Prices

DPA is a paid pass that allows you to enter popular rides through a priority line instead of the regular queue.

On the day I visited, popular attractions like Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, TRON Lightcycle Power Run, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had wait times of 2-3 hours, so my entire day's itinerary completely changed depending on whether I had DPA or not.

→ I really debated whether or not to buy the Shanghai Disneyland DPA, but it turned out to be worth every penny...

DPA is divided into 1, 3, 6, and 8-ride options.

(It's not that you choose the rides you want; the rides available for quick access are predetermined.)

DPA3 is divided into 3 types, with Adventure being a combination of slightly thrilling rides, and Carefree being a combination of rides suitable for children.

I initially looked for a combination that included Zootopia and TRON,

but since that combo wasn't available for the 3-ride option,

I just went all out and splurged on DPA8!🤣🤣

When you use it, just show your QR code

at the dedicated entrance for that ride.

DPAs are sold in limited quantities,

so it's crucial to check if they're still available for your visit date.

TRON isn't like sitting in a chair;

you lean forward as if riding a motorcycle, so the sensation is completely different right from the start.

Instead of the fear of dropping from a great height,

it's all about the exhilarating speed as you race forward,

making it a must-try for thrill-seekers.

And if you've come to Shanghai Disneyland,

a visit to the Zootopia land is absolutely essential.

While the Zootopia: Hot Pursuit ride itself is fun,

I found the time spent just walking around the themed area even more memorable.

It's designed to look exactly like the city from the movie,

so you'll find time flying by as you admire the buildings, signs, and take photos.

Pirates of the Caribbean has no thrills at all,

but the visual effects that bring the movie to life are absolutely stunning, so I highly recommend it for anyone who's seen the film.

Roaring Rapids is very similar to Everland's Amazon Express. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a wooden roller coaster, and it actually has some surprising drops!

5. Fireworks Show Schedule

📌 Fireworks Showtimes: 8:00 PM, 9:15 PM

When I visited, there was only one showtime,

but it seems it's become so popular that now they have two performances!

The official name is

ILLUMINATE! A Nighttime Celebration,

and it's a spectacle combining projections, lighting,

and spectacular fireworks effects.

The second show at 9:15 PM tends to be a bit less crowded,

but if you want to get a good spot,

you absolutely need to stake out your place at least an hour beforehand.

(The plaza in front of the castle is the prime viewing spot.

If you stand too far back, tripods and lampposts might block your view.)

If you don't want to exhaust yourself with an open run (lining up before opening)

or if you really want to experience popular rides like Zootopia and TRON,

I recommend comparing admission tickets and DPA options in advance

and booking once your travel dates are set!
