Heading to Shanghai Disneyland without a game plan?
You'll likely spend half your day lost instead of having fun!
We've got you covered with essential tips for a perfect day, from
tickets and Disney Premier Access (DPA) to must-try rides and the best spots for the fireworks show.
Read on for all the details you need to know!
1. Admission Tickets & DPA

You can't just show up and buy your Disney tickets at the gate;
admission is strictly by advance reservation only.
Ticket prices fluctuate based on the date and season, and popular days like weekends or holidays can sell out fast, so it's always a good idea to purchase yours well in advance.

Next, you'll need to decide whether to buy just the admission ticket on its own
or opt for an admission ticket + DPA set.
DPA: Disney Premier Access
DPA is your magic key to skip the regular lines and get fast access to popular attractions.
Waiting times for rides at Shanghai Disneyland can easily stretch to 2-3 hours, meaning you might only get on three rides in an entire day!
Using DPA significantly cuts down on wait times, allowing you to experience more attractions, enjoy parades, capture amazing photos, and make your day far more efficient and fun.

Prices vary depending on the number and type of rides included. Since DPA packages already include admission, there's no need to purchase a separate entry ticket.
You can check the detailed package information by clicking on the link below.

✅ Shanghai Disneyland Ticket Prices (as of July 2026)
| Adult | Child |
1-Day Ticket | ~$71 | ~$56 |
DPA 2 | ~$98 | ~$80 |
DPA 6 | ~$187 | ~$169 |
Based on standard Shanghai Disneyland admission, adding just around ~$26 allows you to access DPA for popular attractions like Zootopia and Winnie the Pooh.
While speeding through every attraction is ideal, if the cost is a concern, opting for DPA 2 can still be incredibly efficient.
Even with just these two DPA passes, you could save approximately 4-5 hours of waiting time!
Just a heads-up: DPA 2 and 3 options tend to sell out quickly, so if your travel dates are set,
it's a good idea to check availability now.

2. Important Entry Information

When purchasing your Shanghai Disneyland tickets, you'll be asked to enter your passport number.
Unlike some other parks that use vouchers, Disney in China verifies entry by matching your passport information with your reservation.
✔
Therefore, it's crucial to enter your passport number correctly during purchase and to bring your passport with you to Disney.

There's a quick bag check before entry. Items like selfie sticks, tripods, and glass bottles are prohibited.
However, light snacks such as water bottles, rice balls, and chocolate are generally allowed.
3. Top Rides

Shanghai Disneyland boasts some incredible attractions, but these are the TOP 3 must-rides:
Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, TRON Lightcycle Power Run, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure.
TRON Lightcycle Power Run is an indoor roller coaster where you lean forward as if riding a lightcycle.
The incredible speed and feeling of soaring through a futuristic space are truly exhilarating.

Zootopia: Hot Pursuit is a trackless dark ride that takes you on an immersive journey through the story.
With massive screens and lifelike animatronics, the immersion is so high that even adults will find it incredibly entertaining.
I waited about 2 hours for this one, and it was absolutely worth every minute! 🥹

Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure is another fantastic dark ride, similar in style to Zootopia.
The grand music, water effects, and crisp screens create an illusion of a sea battle unfolding right before your eyes. The immersion on this ride is truly remarkable.
4. Best Fireworks Viewing Spot

You absolutely can't leave Shanghai Disneyland without catching the spectacular fireworks show!
The fireworks are enormous and burst high above the castle, so if you're too close, you might miss some of the magical effects.
It's best to find a viewing spot a comfortable distance from the Disney Castle.

I believe the spot where I watched was the absolute best for Shanghai Disneyland's fireworks.
If you walk straight from the castle towards the park entrance, you'll find a circular area with benches and a canopy. From there, you get a perfect panoramic view of both the castle and the fireworks, just like in the picture.
It gets crowded quickly, so I recommend finding your spot and settling in at least 30 minutes before the show starts.

We've covered everything you need to know about Shanghai Disneyland tickets, DPA information, top rides, and the best fireworks viewing spots.
No matter when you visit, the park is always bustling. Even during off-peak seasons, wait times can easily exceed 2 hours. To truly savor the parades and fireworks, meticulous planning of your itinerary and time management are key.
If you want to make your visit to Shanghai Disneyland as enjoyable and efficient as possible, DPA is definitely an option worth considering. Plan wisely and have an amazing trip! :)
