I rode all 8, and personally,
TRON was the absolute highlight. It's famous for a reason.
You lean forward like you're riding a futuristic motorcycle,
and this roller coaster launches you at 62 mph!
It starts in a dark, neon-lit indoor cyber world
before suddenly blasting you outdoors.
The thrill level is completely off the charts!
TRON regularly hits a 2.5-hour wait time,
making it the #1 reason to use a DPA pass.
A crucial tip: The 3 and 6-attraction DPA bundles often DO NOT include TRON.
That's exactly why international visitors overwhelmingly choose the 8-attraction DPA—
it guarantees you get to ride TRON quickly and easily.
While the other 7 attractions are incredibly fun,
they don't quite match the adrenaline rush of TRON.
Many of them are fast-paced, breezy experiences, so
I highly recommend knocking out TRON first, then enjoying the rest.
Honestly, once I rode TRON,
I felt like my Shanghai Disneyland trip was already a success.
Also, Zootopia is a massive hit right now!
The Zootopia theme itself is wildly popular, but
the trackless ride system makes you feel like you're unpredictably zipping around,
which really ramps up the excitement and immersion!
Whatever you do, make sure you ride TRON and Zootopia.
The biggest hurdle you'll face is the sheer volume of crowds.
I did "rope drop" (arriving before the park opened) and got in line incredibly fast,
but to be completely transparent, aggressive line-jumping can be a real issue here.
People would cut in front of me, and even further up the line,
making it feel like the queue was barely moving at all.
At first, I was too taken aback to say anything (and there's a language barrier)..
I let a few people slide, but...
Honestly, the line-cutting can be endless.
For the sake of your mental peace, using DPA to bypass this frustration
and spending your extra time browsing souvenir shops is the way to go.
For the highly sought-after rides like TRON and Zootopia,
the absolute minimum wait time was 2 hours.
And that's 2 hours on paper—with line-jumping, it easily stretches past 3 hours.
Furthermore, many of the queue areas lack proper shade.
Standing in the blazing Shanghai sun
while waiting for hours is completely exhausting.
Without a DPA pass, it's incredibly easy to get completely drained after just one ride.
If you've been to Disney parks in Japan, Paris, or the US, you might not expect this,
but the crowd dynamics and intense sun here are on another level.
I strongly, strongly recommend purchasing the 8-attraction DPA
