For my recent trip to Shanghai,
I hesitated until the very last minute before finally booking
the Shanghai Book & Bed Hotel
(though it's actually an Airbnb, not a hotel).
⭐️✨✨
The panoramic view through the floor-to-ceiling windows
of the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower at night was the ultimate highlight.
I booked it in the ~$128 range,
and since it accommodates up to 6 people, it's perfect for a family of 4 or a group of 5 friends.
If you're visiting Shanghai and wondering whether you need to book two hotel rooms,
I highly recommend this place! ⭐️⭐️
It was incredibly spacious and really made me feel like a Shanghai local.
There's a Haidilao hotpot place right in front,
and Yu Garden and The Bund are also close by.
Since it's located in a high-end Shanghai apartment complex, it was quite fascinating,
and the security was excellent.

Inside the apartment complex, there's actually
haha, a fountain and
even gold leaf details...

First of all, this accommodation is located in Huangpu District, Shanghai.
To be precise, it's not a hotel,
but an Airbnb.
As soon as I saw the photos, I fell in love with the night view,
and how spacious it looked, so I booked it right away!
!!!!!
Plus, I wanted to try staying somewhere new and different
in Shanghai,
so I decided to take the plunge!
In the end, from the location to everything else,
I was completely satisfied!
I stayed on a Saturday in late November,
with a living room, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a balcony spanning 170 m².

I booked this room type for around ~$173.
Prices seem to fluctuate depending on the dates,
and after seeing it go up to ~$448 on some days,
I quickly booked mine when it was
in the ~$128 range!
With 3 bedrooms, 3 beds, and a massive sofa,
it can easily accommodate 6 adults comfortably.
If only I had known about this place sooner,
I would have recommended it to my friend who went to Shanghai in a group of five!
They should have told me about this place...
But hey, I made it there, so all's well!
~~

Once you book this Shanghai hotel,
the host will give you their WeChat ID.
If you message them on WeChat, they'll give you all the details
and tell you to reach out instantly if you have any questions or issues.
Also, don't forget to check the inbox of the email address you registered!
If you check your emails in advance,
the Shanghai hotel (Airbnb) host will actually
handle your temporary residence registration (Zhushudengji) for you...
I ended up leaving without checking my email,
so once I landed at the airport, both the host and I panicked a bit,
and I had to do the registration online on the spot.

Anyway,
once you complete this process,
the Shanghai hotel host will send you
the detailed address of the apartment (Airbnb),
the room code, and where the key card is located.
This is a pretty high-end apartment complex in Shanghai
(looks like it's worth around ~$3,201,000!),
so for security reasons, you have to tap your key card
to use the elevator and go upstairs.

Like this...
I've only ever stayed in hotels or hostels in Shanghai,
so this was my first time trying an Airbnb!
At first, I didn't realize I had to tap the key card. I just got in,
and the elevator kept showing ❌, telling me it couldn't recognize my face,
and wouldn't go up at all...
All you have to do is tap the key card right there
on the facial recognition scanner, press your floor, and you're good to go!
Even after tapping the card, it kept showing an 'X' when looking at my face, but
it's fine.
Duibuqi, duibuqi (sorry, sorry)~~

Oh my gosh, getting to call a ~$3,201,000 Shanghai luxury apartment
my "hotel" for just ~$128?!
Step inside, and you're greeted by this stunning night view!✨✨✨✨
...is not how it went.
Actually, since we arrived during the day, I was almost
a little disappointed lol...!!!

This is what the view looks like during the day.
A floor-to-ceiling window view from above the 20th floor, showcasing the Oriental Pearl, Lujiazui,
and all of Shanghai's iconic landmarks.
✨✨✨🌞
First of all, the living room is incredibly spacious, and with all those windows, it feels so open and airy.
Photos turn out absolutely amazing here too!
The living room is huge,
and it comes with a sofa, an ambient light table,
and another separate table.

Also, the hallway is super long,
and the layout consists of:
Living room
Kitchen
Bathroom
Bedroom 1
/ Bedroom 2
Bedroom 3
All the bedrooms have windows and are incredibly spacious!

By the way, Room 3 is definitely the most spacious!

Room 3 even has its own private terrace.
Plus, there’s a huge private bathroom attached to Room 3.
(There’s also an outdoor balcony-like space near the kitchen area!)
Honestly, when I first checked it out during the day,
it felt a tiny bit more run-down
than what I had expected from the photos...
I was even thinking, "Why on earth is the furniture like this
in such an expensive place?"
Sure, it was spacious and the view was decent, but I was slightly disappointed at first...
But after waking up from a quick afternoon nap...
I completely forgot about all of that disappointment.
Because...
THE VIEW IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE!
❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️

This hotel... (well, Airbnb) has the most mind-blowing night view of Shanghai...
If you wanted a view like this from a luxury hotel, it would easily cost over ~$640 a night!
If you book a standard room at hotels on The Bund in Shanghai, you won't see anything.
This is the kind of view you only get after upgrading your room like four times!
Anyway, I totally took back everything I said earlier
about the tacky furniture during the day.
When you turn off all the lights, the entire living room
gets flooded with the gorgeous, sparkling lights of the Shanghai skyline.

And this is the actual view from Room 3!
I woke up in the middle of the night,
and seeing this incredible panorama right beside and in front of me
was absolutely breathtaking.
Just keep in mind that some buildings in Shanghai turn off their lights around 10:00 to 11:00 PM,
so make sure to soak in the night view before then!
!!!

Paying only ~$128 in Shanghai
and getting this kind of living room view from your hotel (Airbnb)... isn't that a complete steal?!
I kept thinking how amazing it would have been to hang out here with a group of friends.
T_T
Where are you, my friends?

That building right in the center changing colors constantly is just so beautiful.
The complex itself is super quiet and peaceful too.

In the kitchen hallway leading to the living room of Shanghai's Book & Bed hotel (B&B),
they have a cute display of wine glasses like this.
Just note that bottled water isn't provided.
Oh, right! As soon as you open the door shown on the left of the photo above,
the shoe cabinet is stocked with plenty of disposable slippers.
Since it's an Airbnb, it’s best to buy some bottled water on your way in!

At the Shanghai Book & Bed Hotel (Airbnb),
the main bathroom attached to Room 3 looks like this.
It's incredibly spacious,
and the shower booth, bathtub, and toilet areas are all nicely separated.
Plus, there's plenty of space to check the mirror and put down your luggage.

Each bathroom is fully stocked for 6 guests,
complete with amenities like toothbrushes and toothpaste.
As for towels, you'll find disposable ones when you open the cabinet drawer.
They also provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion.
These had a slightly lived-in, shared-home feel...
For me, it felt cozy—like staying at a friend’s place—and I liked it,
but if you're a bit sensitive about that, grabbing your own travel-sized set at a nearby market is always an option!

And here is
Room 2 of the Shanghai Book & Bed Hotel.
It's a bit smaller than Room 3,
but it still has a window (even if it's just a neighbor's house view!)))
and a wardrobe.
Every room and bed comes fully prepared with towels and bathrobes.
Since it's stocked for 6 people, there were so many towels and robes
that it was almost overwhelming! lol

It was absolutely freezing back in Seoul,
but look at the temperature on that smart mirror in Shanghai... it's 20°C (68°F)...
I actually walked around in a sleeveless top, shorts, and a leather jacket!
!

The toilet in this Shanghai hotel keeps automatically opening its lid whenever you walk by.
Every single time I moved,
it would open up and then close a moment later.
I actually started feeling a bit bad for making it work so hard lol

Check-out is at 12 PM,
and you just need to return the elevator room key
back to the exact spot where you first picked it up,
just as the Shanghai hotel host instructs.
Once that's done, you're checked out!

✔️ If you are looking for a hotel or accommodation in Shanghai
for a group of 4, 5, or 6 people...
✔️ Or if you want a Shanghai hotel that checks all the boxes
for both location and value...
I highly recommend this place!
The only downside? You might not want to leave the room at night...?
Also, it seemed like the host wasn't the actual homeowner
but rather a professional manager.
✔️ Because of that, communication was super fast, incredibly friendly,
and they took great care of everything.
It was honestly way more comfortable than those typical Airbnbs where you feel like you have to walk on eggshells around the owner...
✔️ Also, depending on the room type,
it seems the apartment building and floor level vary slightly.
The place I stayed in had an absolutely insane view,
even if the interior felt just a tiny bit dated.
Since each room seems a bit different, make sure to check details carefully before booking!
