I recently caught wind of this news.

As one of Las Vegas's most iconic photo ops, I wanted to see for myself what the vibe was like and if there's a real urgency to visit now. Here's my firsthand experience!

What Exactly Are the Seven Magic Mountains?

Seven Magic Mountains is a monumental public art installation nestled in the heart of the desert, just outside Las Vegas.

It features seven towering stacks of neon-colored boulders, each reaching approximately 30-33 feet (9-10 meters) high, standing boldly against the desert backdrop.

Created by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, the installation debuted in 2016 with an initial plan for a two-year exhibition.

However, due to its overwhelming popularity, the exhibition has been continuously extended, keeping it a vibrant fixture to this day.

I was curious about the artist's intention behind stacking these fluorescent rocks in the middle of nowhere, and it turns out it's a striking commentary on the contrast between natural and artificial, a dialogue between nature and modern art!

Even without diving deep into its artistic meaning, the sight of these vivid, towering rocks in the vast desert is truly captivating and impressive.

They look so precariously balanced, almost as if a gentle nudge would send them tumbling down....

The parking lot usually has ample space.

It's generally less crowded in the morning, but you might have to wait for a spot in the afternoon!

Since it's just the art installation in an open desert, people typically don't linger for too long.

A Must-Visit for BTS Fans!

Seven Magic Mountains has gained significant recognition among BTS fans worldwide, drawing a steady stream of international visitors.

It's become a popular pilgrimage for ARMYs visiting Las Vegas, often included in their must-see itineraries.

Will It Really Be Removed in 2026?

The current land lease for the installation is set to expire in December 2026.

While relocation to another site was considered, those plans have since been canceled. Currently, the artist and relevant organizations are discussing the future of the installation.

So, while its removal in 2026 isn't definitively confirmed, whether it will remain in its current location is still up in the air.

My Firsthand Experience: What It's Really Like

Each of the rock stacks is surprisingly massive, creating an awe-inspiring presence when you get up close.

With the desert as a clean backdrop, the fluorescent boulders truly pop, making them even more striking.

For photos, I found that stepping back a bit to capture the entire landscape with the art piece yielded better results than shooting too close.

The vibe of your Seven Magic Mountains photos can change quite a bit depending on your angle.

I experimented with different angles myself and put together a few tips for you.

For portraits, standing close to a single boulder as your backdrop works wonderfully.

I recommend visiting in the morning or around sunset for the best light.

If you prefer fewer crowds, an early morning visit is your best bet.
