I recently took a 4-day, 3-night trip to Busan, and of course, I hopped on the KTX bullet train!
Before diving into my Busan itinerary, let me share my complete guide and review of the KTX ride from Seoul to Busan.

How to Book KTX Tickets
I booked my KTX tickets about 3 weeks in advance using the official Korail app.
Since it was a holiday weekend, all forward-facing seats were already sold out, so I had to book backward-facing seats.
✨ Pro Tip: If you are traveling on a weekend, booking your round-trip tickets well in advance is highly recommended!

KTX Discounts & Ticket Info
KTX offers various special discount fares based on age, family size, and travel times.
Teen Dream - Discounts for youth aged 13 to 24.
Youth Cheer - Special fares for young adults aged 25 to 33.
Easy KTX - First-class upgrades at standard prices for pregnant travelers.
Gicha Nuri - Basic welfare discounts for eligible low-income travelers.
Multi-Child Happiness - Discounts for families with 2 or more children.
4-Person Group Seats - Share a face-to-face table seat with friends or family at a discount.
KTX ~$3 Special - Super cheap deals on short routes like Seoul/Yongsan to Haengsin or Gwangmyeong.
Seoul to Busan Travel Time & Fares
From Seoul Station to Busan Station:
Travel time is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
The standard one-way fare is ~$38.
Prices may vary slightly depending on the stops along the route.
The fare and duration are the same for the return trip from Busan to Seoul!
Heading to Busan: KTX 033 Experience
I arrived at Seoul Station via the Airport Railroad line. From there, you just need to head up to the main ground-level train station.

The signs inside the station are very clear, so you won\'t have any trouble finding your way!
Welcome to the bustling Seoul Station!
Inside Seoul Station, you\'ll find plenty of restaurants, cafes, pharmacies, convenience stores, banks, and ATMs. It\'s also directly connected to Lotte Outlets, which is perfect for some quick shopping while you wait!
Simply check your platform number on the electronic boards and head to the gates.
Our KTX 033 train bound for Busan has arrived! The train usually pulls up about 10 to 15 minutes before departure. Double-check your car and seat number, then hop on!
There\'s a handy onboard facility guide right at the entrance, along with dedicated spaces to store your heavy luggage.
Be sure to check the seat numbers above the windows!
For seats with USB ports and power outlets, they vary by train model but generally include seats like 14A/14D, 12A/12D, 10A/10D, 8A/8D, 6A/6D, 4A/4D, and 2A/2D. When booking, look for the blue window indicators on the seat selection screen to secure a power outlet seat!
With the KTX power outlets and individual tray tables, you can enjoy a quick snack or get some remote work done. (McDonald\'s coffee is an absolute lifesaver 🤎)
After a smooth 2 hours and 40 minutes, we arrived in Busan!

Busan Station also has fantastic English signage. The train station is directly connected to the local subway system, making it incredibly easy to start your vacation!
It seemed like there was some construction the last time I visited, but now it\'s completely finished and looking beautiful!
KTX Busan → Seoul
On Sunday afternoon, Busan Station was super crowded, and finding an empty seat in the lobby was nearly impossible.
The main restrooms had massive lines, but here\'s a quick tip: head over toward the Railway Special Judicial Police office. The restrooms and cafes over there are relatively quiet and less crowded!
For my trip back to Seoul, I boarded KTX 042 departing at 2:55 PM.
If you enter near the Travel Center, you\'ll find a large locker area to store your bags if you want to explore the area hands-free before boarding.
The train was ready 15 minutes before departure, so we were able to board early and settle in.

On our return KTX 042 train, USB charging ports and power outlets were also located between the windows.
Another 2 hours and 40 minutes flew by, and we were back in Seoul!
