Tips for Beating the Wait
Sushi Sakaba Sashisu is already a well-known favorite among travelers,
so expecting a bit of a wait is practically part of the experience.
I stopped by on a weekday around 1:50 PM.
Even though I missed the peak lunch hour, there were still 6 groups waiting ahead of me.
Luckily, the line moved fairly quickly, and I was seated in about 20 minutes!

💡 Pro-Tips for Beating the Wait
I highly recommend avoiding peak lunch and dinner hours.
Planning your visit right at opening (11:00 AM) or during the late afternoon (2:00 PM to 3:00 PM) will make your wait much shorter!
Exterior / Interior
Since it's located right on the B1 floor of KITTE Hakata,
you don't have to wander around outside in the elements—
just step inside the mall, and you'll spot it easily!

The cozy interior features everything from bar counter seating (perfect for solo diners!) to tables for groups of four.
They’ve really made efficient use of the space!
It can feel a little tight if you’re carrying a lot of shopping bags or luggage,
but the lively, bustling energy is all part of the authentic local charm.

While their star attractions are the various fresh sushi plates,
they also serve up fantastic grilled fish, tempura, fried chicken, and other side dishes.
You can order directly from the staff,

making the entire process completely stress-free!

Honest Review
The dishes we ordered arrived in quick succession,
which made it super easy to snap a gorgeous, mouth-watering table shot of the whole spread!

Shrimp Yukhoe
This was one of those dishes I kept seeing in almost every review, so I had to order it right away.
It's packed with sushi rice on the inside and draped with sweet shrimp on top—
and the savory yet sweet flavor profile was surprisingly delicious!

Amberjack / Seared Blackthroat Seaperch Sushi
The fish toppings (neta) on the sushi are massive and incredibly fresh!

🤍 Tuna Trio
Look at that beautiful, glossy sheen! It literally melts in your mouth.
Add a dab of wasabi to your liking to elevate the flavor even more.

🤍 Fatty Tuna Roll
The absolute #1 must-order menu item at Sushi Sakaba Sashisu!
The rich, buttery goodness of the fatty tuna blends perfectly with the rice.

Huge, thick pieces of fatty tuna—hardly ever seen in standard izakayas—
are practically bursting out of the seaweed wrap!

🤍 Yuzu Sour
The refreshing citrus scent of yuzu perfectly cuts through the richness of the sushi,
making it dangerously easy to keep eating endlessly.

They were so good that we ended up ordering another round
of the Tuna Trio and the Fatty Tuna Roll.
