Downtown Nagoya to Chubu Centrair Airport
Finding Elevators on Google Maps
While there are countless guides on getting from Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) to downtown Nagoya,
finding detailed instructions for the reverse trip can be surprisingly tricky.
If you're heading back to the airport and feeling a bit lost, don't worry—I've got you covered!
Navigating the Meitetsu Line from Nagoya Station can be especially confusing for first-timers.
I've broken down every step in detail,
so all you need to do is follow along!

Most travelers stay near Sakae Station,
so let's use that vibrant area as our starting point for the airport run!
The standard route to Chubu Centrair Airport is:
Sakae Station → Kanayama Station or Nagoya Station → Chubu Airport.
Google Maps usually recommends transferring at Kanayama Station.
However, I was traveling during the winter
with heavy coats and a ton of shopping bags.
I absolutely needed to guarantee a seat for the ride!
The Meitetsu Airport train route goes: Nagoya Station → Kanayama Station → Airport.
Because Nagoya is the starting point, we chose to transfer there to easily grab seats.

I was staying at the Hotel Mystays,
which is perfectly situated between Shinsakae-machi and Sakae stations.
Pro-tip: I searched Google Maps using the "Wheelchair accessible" (elevator) option,
and it directed me to use Shinsakae-machi Station.
If you're traveling with heavy luggage,
always use this feature! It saves you from dragging suitcases up and down stairs
and makes the whole transit experience so much smoother.
So, our final route was: Shinsakae-machi Station → Nagoya Station
→ Chubu Centrair Airport!
The ride from Shinsakae-machi to Nagoya Station
uses the standard subway fare system.

It's only two stops from Shinsakae-machi to Nagoya Station,
so it's a very quick ride (we used Platform 2).

Once you hop off at Nagoya Station, look at the floors and ceilings.
You'll see an "Airplane icon" alongside signs for the "Meitetsu Line".
Just follow these signs, and you're golden!

Take the escalators or stairs up,
and you'll arrive right at the Meitetsu Line concourse.

When entering the gates, simply scan
the QR code you purchased earlier.
Note: Screenshots are not accepted.
You must open the link from your booking site to pass through.

Once inside, head to Platform 4—this is the airport line!
Here is where you need to be careful:
Platform 4 services several different trains,
which can get pretty confusing.

Look at the electronic departure board. The train heading to Chubu Centrair
will be marked with the character "中" (Chubu).
You'll also notice the Chubu Airport destination
is outlined in green on the board.
Just find the green lines painted on the platform floor and line up there!

Because we boarded at Nagoya Station,
we got to sit back and relax the entire way! Highly recommended.

My flight was out of Terminal 2, so I just followed the signs.
It's a quick 5 to 10-minute walk to get there.
Don't forget, you'll need your QR code again to exit the gates
at the airport, so have it ready on your phone!

The driver chose to transfer at Nagoya Station because they had a lot of luggage for a winter trip and wanted to ensure a seat. Since the airport train departs from Nagoya Station, passes through Kanayama Station, and then goes to the airport, boarding at Nagoya Station increases the likelihood of getting a seat.
If you search on Google Maps by selecting the 'Use elevator' option, a route via Shinsakaemachi Station will appear. It's two stops from Shinsakaemachi Station to Nagoya Station, and this method is convenient as you don't have to carry heavy suitcases up and down stairs.
The train with the '中' (Naka/Chubu) symbol in the middle of the display board is the one going to Chubu Centrair International Airport. Also, you can line up at the line indicated with 'Chubu Centrair International Airport' surrounded by a green border on the display board.
