My Honest Review: Location, Best Price Booking Tips
Text ・ Photos by Traveler Mado
When you're planning a trip to Sydney,
the most important thing after your flight tickets is definitely booking a hotel.
Sydney hotel prices can be quite high,
so finding a place that offers
a good location and comfortable room conditions at a reasonable price
felt like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Still, after days of searching,
I found the perfect spot that met all my criteria:
the 'Rydges Australia Square' hotel,
located right in Sydney's CBD!
I was more than satisfied with this place,
so I want to share why I chose this hotel, my honest review, and
some tips for booking at the best price.

Rydges Australia Square
📍 Rydges Australia Square
97-99 Pitt St, Sydney NSW 2000 Australia
When I was choosing accommodation in Sydney,
my top priorities were
location and safety.
(+And, of course, a price that wasn't too steep..)
While staying outside the CBD in areas like Surry Hills offers
the advantage of relatively lower accommodation prices,
I was hesitant due to concerns about safety.

However, Rydges Australia Square is located
right in the heart of the CBD, which means
not only is it safe, but most major attractions are also
within walking distance.
Wynyard Station and a tram stop are just
a 2-minute walk from the hotel,
making public transportation incredibly convenient.
I've organized a table below showing how long it takes
to get to the airport and major attractions from the hotel,
both by public transport and on foot!
▾▾▾
Public Transport | On Foot
Sydney Airport | 22 min | - |
Chinatown (Paddy's Markets) | 14 min
Opera House | - | 15 min |
Sydney Observatory | - | 15 min |
Darling Harbour | - | 15 min |
Queen Victoria Building | - | 13 min |
Royal Botanic Gardens | - | 10 min |
Westfield Sydney | - | 8 min |

② Honest Review of the Deluxe Twin Room

There are many large companies
near the hotel, so I saw a lot of business people
in suits.

Check-in was incredibly easy
using the kiosk.
Note that you'll need to pay a 1 AUD deposit
by card, but it will be automatically canceled after check-out.

Since I was traveling with a friend,
we opted for a Deluxe Twin room with two beds.
The room size was actually larger than I expected,
even with two large 28-inch suitcases laid open,
there was still plenty of space,
so it was perfectly comfortable for two people.

However, cooking isn't allowed,
and as you can see, the hotel view is of other buildings.
Just something to keep in mind when booking! Haha.

Despite that, since the hotel recently completed renovations,
the room was incredibly clean overall.

The beds were super soft,
and the bedding and pillows were spotless, so I slept really well at night.
There were also power outlets at each headboard,
which was convenient for charging electronics like phones, cameras, and watches the night before.

The bathroom was also spacious,
with the toilet and shower area separated,
and plenty of room around the sink.

A closet, refrigerator, electric kettle, water, coffee, cups, a safe,
body wash, shampoo, conditioner, a hairdryer, and more –
the room amenities were all well-equipped!

And because we had a packed itinerary for all 4 nights,
we were often out exploring the area around our accommodation late into the night.
There were more people than I expected, and lots of open shops like bars and restaurants nearby,
so it didn't feel unsafe at all!
③ Sharing Tips for Booking at the Lowest Price

When I made my booking, Agoda was the cheapest among the hotel booking sites.
However, checking again today (June 15, '26),
'Trip.com' came up as the lowest price.
I've compared the prices from each site directly in the table below.
