When booking accommodation in Samarkand, the most important factor for me was the location.

Since I was traveling alone as a woman, I paid close attention to:

• Whether it was safe to walk around at night

• Whether it was easy to catch a taxi

• What the atmosphere around the accommodation was like

While looking for accommodation near Registan Square, I found and booked Royal Lux Guest House.

The location is comfortable enough even for women traveling alone, so I decided to share a detailed review.

ROYAL LUX is about a 10-minute walk from Registan Square, so the distance was not tiring at all.

I went to Registan during the day, returned again to see the night view, and visited once more the following day.

I probably would not have gone so many times if the accommodation had been far away.

Even when I walked back to the guesthouse after enjoying the night view of Registan Square, I did not feel that the surrounding area was dangerous.

Of course, basic caution is necessary in any country when traveling abroad. However, during my stay, I never felt particularly scared walking around alone.

There is also a main road close to the guesthouse, so it was easy to find a taxi.

Yandex Go is widely used in Uzbekistan, and drivers could find this location without any trouble.

02 Courtyard Atmosphere at the Samarkand Guesthouse

A Guesthouse Filled with Local Atmosphere

When traveling, I often look for accommodation that has a local feel.

I also wanted to stay somewhere that felt connected to Uzbekistan, and Royal Lux had exactly that kind of atmosphere.

When you open the entrance gate and walk inside, there is a courtyard in the middle with palm trees and tables.

The whole place has the warm atmosphere of a small guesthouse.

It does not feel like a large chain hotel, but that was actually what I liked about it.

It was pleasant to sit outside in the morning or evening, and the courtyard was also a great place to take photos.

03 Welcome Food Right After Check-in

I Ended Up Having a Full Meal While Taking a Break

The host was incredibly kind during check-in.

Communication in English was also quite easy.

I arrived a little earlier than the official check-in time, so I left my luggage and sat at a table to rest.

Then, food suddenly started coming out.

The host brought fruit, cookies, snacks, tea, and various other items. There was so much food.

I had only planned to take a short break, but it turned into almost a full meal.

I had not even entered my room yet, but I was already falling in love with the guesthouse. 💞

04 Royal Lux Deluxe Single Room

The Room Is Not Fancy, but It Is Clean

As you would expect from a guesthouse, the room was not particularly luxurious or glamorous.

However, it was clean.

I think cleanliness is one of the most important things when choosing accommodation, and I was very satisfied with this aspect.

The bedding was in good condition, and the room itself was clean.

There was also a refrigerator and an electric kettle.

I did not expect much from the TV because I thought it would only show Uzbek channels.

However, YouTube was connected to the TV.

I ended up watching Korean programs on YouTube throughout my stay.

The recommendation algorithm will probably be filled with Korean shows now. Haha.

The room was more than comfortable enough to relax in after sightseeing all day.

05 The Bathroom Was Also Clean

Toothbrushes and Toothpaste Were Provided

The bathroom was also very clean.

The tiles were shiny, which made it easy to see how carefully the bathroom was cleaned.

There was a hair dryer, bathrobe, hand wash, and soap.

There were even new toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Many accommodations in Uzbekistan do not provide many amenities.

Even if soap is available, toothbrushes and toothpaste are often not provided.

So, the fact that toothbrushes and toothpaste were prepared made me feel that the guesthouse paid attention to its guests.

06 I Was Also Very Satisfied with the Breakfast

There Was So Much Food That I Could Not Finish It All

I did not have high expectations for breakfast at first.

But after seeing the generous welcome food, I started wondering if breakfast would also be good.

And it really was.

The food kept coming out.

There was bread, fruit, cheese, fried eggs, ham, tea, and more.

The host prepared so much food that I felt bad leaving some of it behind because I could not finish everything.

It was a great way to start the day with a filling meal before sightseeing in Samarkand.

07 The Only Disappointing Point: The Bed

The Single Bed Was a Little Narrow

This was not really a problem with the guesthouse itself, but rather with the room type I booked.

The bed was quite small because it was a single bed.

I usually sleep alone in a queen-size bed at home, so the bed felt very narrow when I first lay down.

Of course, it was perfectly fine for one person, but if you prefer a spacious bed, I recommend checking the room type carefully before booking.

I highly recommend Royal Lux Guest House!

The price was also quite reasonable.
