A Review of Royal Lux: Just a 10-Minute Walk to Registan
When booking my accommodation in Samarkand,
the absolute number one priority for me was the location.
Traveling as a solo female traveler,
I had a lot of questions in mind:
Would it be safe to walk around at night?
Is it in a convenient spot to catch a taxi?
What is the vibe of the neighborhood like?
I did a ton of research on these things,
and while searching for a place close to Registan, I ended up booking
the Royal Lux Guest House.
The location is absolutely perfect, even for solo female travelers,
so I’ve put together a detailed review for you!

Royal Lux is only about a 10-minute walk from Registan Square,
making it an incredibly easy and stress-free stroll.
I found myself heading over there during the day,
going back for the night views, and visiting again the next day.
I was constantly walking back and forth to Registan!
If my accommodation had been far,
I probably would have been too lazy to go so often.
Even when I walked back to the guesthouse
after watching the night show at Registan Square,
I never felt like the surrounding area was dangerous.
Of course, you always need to exercise basic caution
when traveling abroad, no matter the country,
but during my stay here, I never once felt scared walking alone.
The guesthouse is also close to a main road,
making it very easy to catch a taxi.
In Uzbekistan, Yandex Go is the go-to ride-hailing app,
and the drivers had absolutely no trouble finding the place.
02 The Cozy Courtyard Vibe
A Guesthouse Brimming with Local Charm
When traveling, many of us look for accommodations
that offer a true local experience,
and I was definitely searching for a place
with an authentic Uzbek feel.
Royal Lux was exactly what I was looking for!
Once you step through the main gate,
you’re greeted by a central courtyard
complete with palm trees and cozy tables.
It has that lovely, intimate guesthouse vibe
written all over it.
It doesn't have the sterile feel of a massive chain hotel,
and honestly, that’s what made it so special.
It was wonderful to sit out there in the morning
or wind down in the evening,
and it’s incredibly photogenic too!
03 Warm Welcome Food Right Upon Check-in
I Sat Down to Rest and Ended Up with a Whole Meal!
The host was incredibly kind
during check-in,
and communication in English was smooth and easy.
Since I arrived a bit earlier than the official check-in time,
I left my luggage and sat down at a courtyard table to rest.
Suddenly, a spread of food appeared out of nowhere!
Fresh fruits, cookies, local snacks, hot tea...
They kept bringing out plate after plate,
and the portion was huge!
I only meant to catch my breath for a moment,
but it felt like I had a full meal.
I hadn't even stepped into my room yet,
and I was already completely in love with this place... 💞
04 Royal Lux Deluxe Single Room
Simple but Sparkly Clean Rooms
Being a guesthouse, the rooms aren't
overly luxurious or fancy.
However, they were exceptionally clean.
To me, cleanliness is the most important factor
when traveling,
and on that front, I was extremely satisfied.
The bedding was in great condition,
and the room itself was super clean.
There was a mini-fridge and an electric kettle, too.
I was expecting only Uzbek channels and didn't expect much from the TV,
but to my surprise, it was hooked up to YouTube!
I ended up watching Korean shows the entire time -
the algorithm's probably flooded with Korean content now, haha.
It was the perfect room to come back to
and unwind after a long day of sightseeing.
05 The bathroom was also squeaky clean
They even provided toothbrushes and toothpaste!
The bathroom was incredibly clean as well.
The tiles were practically sparkling,
which showed just how much effort
they put into keeping the place spotless.
There was a hairdryer, bathrobes,
hand wash, soap, and...
to my surprise, even brand new toothbrushes
and toothpaste were ready for use.
When you travel around Uzbekistan,
you'll find that many accommodations don't offer toiletries.
You might get a bar of soap,
but toothbrushes and toothpaste are usually hard to find.
The fact that they provided these
proves how much they care about guest comfort.

06 Breakfast was also a huge hit
So much food kept coming, I couldn't even finish it all
I didn't have high expectations for breakfast at first,
but after seeing the welcome food,
I started hoping it would be good—and oh boy,
it really did not disappoint!
The dishes just kept coming.
Bread, fresh fruit,
cheese, fried eggs,
ham, and hot tea...
they just kept serving more and more.
They prepared so much food for me,
I actually felt bad leaving some behind because I was so full.
It's the perfect way to fuel up
before heading out for a busy day of sightseeing in Samarkand.
07 Just one minor drawback: the bed
The single bed was a bit on the small side
This wasn't really a problem with the guesthouse itself,
but rather the specific room type I booked.
The bed was quite small,
as it was a standard single bed.
Since I'm used to sleeping alone
in a queen-size bed back home,
it felt a bit cramped
when I first lay down.
Of course, it's perfectly fine for one person,
but if you prefer a bit more room to stretch out,
I highly recommend double-checking
the room types before booking.
08 Samarkand Accommodations: Overall Verdict
I would definitely stay here again!
Royal Lux Guest House...
I absolutely recommend it!
A 10-minute walk to Registan Square,
an easy spot to catch a taxi,
an incredibly friendly host,
generous welcome treats,
a super satisfying breakfast,
sparkling clean rooms,
smooth English communication,
and reliable Wi-Fi!
On top of all that, the price was incredibly reasonable.
If I ever find myself back in Samarkand,
I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

It takes about 10 minutes on foot from Royal Lux Guesthouse to Registan Square. Because of the close distance, you can easily walk there to see the night view as well as during the day.
Check-in is at 2:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:30 AM. If you arrive early, you can leave your luggage. Upon check-in, you will be served generous welcome treats such as fruits and tea.
