Vatican Tour Review and Recommendations
Which Tour Should I Choose?
As I prepared for my Rome adventure,
one of my biggest dilemmas was choosing
the Vatican Tour.
Well, first, I decided a tour was a must. Then came the challenge of figuring out which one to take + where to fit it into my itinerary...
Here, I'm going to share the conclusion of my deliberations and a detailed review of the tour.

1. Why a Vatican Tour is a Must

The **Vatican Museums** are far, far wider than you might expect.
Even I didn't realize just how huge it would be before going. It turned out to be about three times larger than I imagined!
With an immense number of artworks and people, plus a complex layout, if I had visited on my own, I likely would have walked past many significant spots without even realizing their importance.

The Vatican isn't just a beautiful museum; it's a space where religion, history, and art are intricately interwoven.
Even if you're not Catholic, you'll find it incredibly fascinating. In fact, the less background knowledge you have, the more you might appreciate the tour!
My husband and I aren't religious, but we kept saying how incredibly glad we were that we took the tour, even after we returned to Korea.

2. Why Fast Track Entry is Crucial

The tour I took was a morning Fast Track Vatican Tour.
The day before, I received instructions via KakaoTalk regarding the meeting time and place, and in the morning, we gathered near Ottaviano Station and headed over together.
When you arrive in front of the Vatican, the entrance line stretches out incredibly, incredibly long!!!!!!!!!!!!
With Fast Track, you can enter quickly at a scheduled time, which was truly an unspeakably huge advantage.
If you're visiting in mid-summer or during peak season, you absolutely must check for Fast Track access.
(Honestly, I'm not sure if the Vatican even has a 'peak' or 'off-peak' season. It always seems crowded...)
Of course, most tours these days operate using Fast Track entry.
3. Vatican Museums Tour Course Review

After officially entering, we listened to explanations in the garden area and then explored the artworks inside, one by one.
I honestly knew nothing about religion or art, but listening to our guide's explanations made viewing the artworks incredibly engaging.
When there were too many people, our guide even adjusted our route to make sure we could view everything a little more comfortably.
The Vatican really is... incredibly crowded, so having a guide who knows exactly where to stop and what to see first definitely made the experience much easier.

Mid-tour, we also had a short break at a cafe inside the museum.
A Vatican tour involves a lot of walking and standing, so you absolutely, positively MUST wear comfortable shoes!
You might also want to bring a small candy or chocolate to keep your energy up!
The Sistine Chapel, which was almost the last stop on our itinerary, doesn't allow photography.
Before we entered, our guide explained the ceiling frescoes and 'The Last Judgment' in advance, which made it so much easier to understand when we saw them in person.
To think the day would come when I'd actually see 'The Last Judgment' with my own eyes... it's truly incredible...

Afterward, St. Peter's Basilica and the Cupola can be visited individually.
I didn't climb up to the Cupola, but I explored the basilica and even found Father Kim Dae-geon's statue by asking around.
When I asked someone who seemed like a church staff member, they immediately pointed me in the right direction.
4. Which Vatican Tour Should You Choose?

Honestly, there isn't a single bad review for any of the tours, and their itineraries are pretty much all similar.
My satisfaction with the Vatican tour I took is 100,000%, but since I haven't tried tours from other companies, I can't really say which one is better.
Anyway, I was extremely satisfied, so I'd definitely recommend it! Vatican City truly requires a tour. Seriously.
Ultimately, it's best to choose a company with great reviews and lots of options, tailored to your own personal travel desires.

Out of ALL the tours I've ever personally experienced, this one was, hands down, the most enriching!
Our guide was incredibly insightful and explained everything with such clarity! It was truly amazing how they maintained their energy, explaining and guiding us for 5-6 hours straight without a hint of fatigue.
I even felt compelled to ask the guide about their secret to maintaining such stamina after the tour...
Honestly, it was a tour where every single penny felt incredibly well spent.
To anyone planning a trip, I wholeheartedly recommend taking a tour, especially for Vatican City – it makes all the difference!
