With summer holidays and school breaks just around the corner,
you're probably already dreaming up your next escape!
And if you're looking to escape the scorching summer heat, a trip to Australia, where the seasons are gloriously opposite ours,
might just be the perfect destination!
If it’s your first adventure Down Under, deciding on the perfect place to stay can be a real head-scratcher.
Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to a fantastic, value-for-money option that's perfect for couples and families alike –
Brisbane's Roamer Hotel!
1. Your Brisbane Base: The Roamer Hotel
The Roamer Brisbane Hotel is located
about a 5-minute stroll from the bustling city center.
But don't let that fool you! This neighborhood is actually a hub of accommodations,
known for its peaceful atmosphere and excellent safety.
Out of the many accommodation options, here's why we ultimately chose the Roamer Hotel:

When you think of Australian food, what’s the first thing that springs to mind? Probably delicious beef, right?
Since the rooms are equipped for self-catering,
you can whip up delicious meals without breaking the bank,
and with a supermarket nearby, stocking up on groceries is incredibly convenient!
The hotel's proximity to the city center and its excellent value for money
were truly satisfying.

Next up, I’ll share our personal review of the hotel experience!
2. The Lobby Experience
Upon entering, you'll find the reception counter immediately to your left,
and to your right is the Roamer Hotel's inviting bar.
✅Check-in is at 2 PM, and check-out is at 10 AM.
We arrived and checked in around 2:30 PM.
When you check in, simply present your passport first.
Just a heads-up: they will ask for a credit card for a security deposit,
so be sure to have one handy.
Check-in was a breeze,
and the staff member was incredibly friendly and helpful.
The bar on the ground floor offers a selection of meals and alcoholic beverages.
While there were also simple drinks available for purchase in the lobby,
they were significantly pricier than what you'd find at a supermarket.
Something important to note about the Roamer Brisbane is that
you are not permitted to consume alcohol within your room or other guest areas.
It seems this rule is in place because of the bar conveniently located on the ground floor.
So, if you fancy a drink, the bar is the perfect spot!
The guest rooms are spread across floors 1 to 4.
❗️We always make sure to request a high-floor room when booking, as they generally offer the best views.
It certainly paid off, as we were assigned to the highest floor, the 4th!
There’s no harm in asking, so why not add it to your booking requests?
To access the guest floors, you'll need to tap your card key in the elevator.
This security measure immediately made us feel confident about the hotel's safety.
3. Our Family Room
Even though there were only two of us, the only room left was
a Family Room.
A Family Room can accommodate up to 4 people.
Our Family Room was number 408.
You just tap your key card to enter.
True to a Family Room, it was quite spacious!
I didn't expect much, but the interior was neat,
and the view was decent, so I was really satisfied.
It was a little bit of a shame that two bunk beds were left unused,
but the room itself was wonderfully spacious.
The bed was king-sized,
and incredibly plush, so I got some amazing sleep!
There was also a full-length mirror right next to the bed,
which was perfect for a quick outfit check before heading out!
4. Amenities
✅ Electric kettle, tap water, mugs,
snacks, coffee, tea
Since it's a Family Room, it's set up for four people,
so everything was prepared accordingly.
Amenities included snacks, coffee, tap water,
various teas, an electric kettle, and more.
Just a heads-up: in Australia, all complimentary water is generally
tap water, so keep that in mind!
✅ Towels, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner
body wash, hand wash
Just as the room was spacious, so was the bathroom.
It had a shower booth on one side,
and two foot towels and two large bath towels were provided.
In the bathroom, there was shampoo, conditioner, body wash,
and hand wash.
One thing that was a bit disappointing was the absence of a hairdryer.
If you're planning to stay here, I'd recommend bringing your own mini hairdryer
or a Dyson.
5. Self-Catering Kitchen
There's a communal kitchen on the 2nd floor of The Romer Brisbane hotel.
This was one of the reasons we booked this accommodation!
You could write your name on a label and put it on your items
in the kitchen fridge.
Since we only stayed for one night, we didn't really use the fridge,
but I noticed many other guests making good use of it!
✅ Frying pans, pots, plates, cups
toaster, microwave, bowls, cutting boards
knives, electric kettle, oven, various seasonings, etc.
Most kitchen essentials were all provided.
The system is straightforward: you simply wash the dishes
you've used before leaving.
A microwave, various seasonings and condiments,
salt, pepper, garlic powder, and other basics were all there,
making it super convenient to use.
The fact that we could freely use the communal dishes and seasonings for free
was something I truly loved about this place.
The kitchen was so well-equipped with dishes and seasonings, it wasn't just for
pre-cooked food—we could even grill meat with ease!
That's when I truly felt, 'I made the best decision choosing a place with cooking facilities!'
6. Conclusion
The Roamer Brisbane Hotel, which I booked without any grand expectations,
exceeded them! The room was spotless, and the bed incredibly comfy – I loved it.
But most importantly, the ability to freely use the utensils and seasonings
in the shared kitchen was such a convenient perk!
You might think a separate kitchen sounds like a hassle,
but trust me, if you cooked in your room, that delicious aroma of grilled meat would linger
for your entire stay.
