If you're gearing up for a trip to **Brisbane, Australia**,
you've probably already noticed the high prices for dining out.
That's why finding a good supermarket becomes essential!
Today, we're diving into an **essential Woolworths shopping list** for **Brisbane, Australia**,
along with a peek at **realistic supermarket prices**!

As you wander through the city, you'll frequently spot signs with a distinct green 'W'.
This iconic logo belongs to Woolworths,
one of Australia's leading supermarkets.
The Tank Street branch I visited was
similar in size to a mid-sized grocery store you might find back home.
Keep in mind that store sizes, product selections, and prices can vary between different Woolworths locations.
Now, let's dive into the shopping list and explore the local price points!
Most fruits and vegetables were sold by the kilogram.
**Bananas were 4.9 AUD per kg,**
**tomatoes were 10.0 AUD, and avocados 2.5 AUD each.**
While not exactly cheap, they didn't feel prohibitively expensive either.
**Bagged salad greens, around 300g, were priced at approximately 3-5 AUD,**
which, when you consider prices in other major cities, wasn't too bad.
Snack items, on the other hand, were generally quite pricey.
A typical box of crackers could set you back around 4 AUD,
making them a bit much for a casual treat.
Even Quest protein bars were 5 AUD each,
a price point that made me think twice.

However, here's a hot tip: Woolworths typically offers weekly discounted items!**
For instance, Shapes crackers were on a half-price special during my visit,
making them just 2.4 AUD and an absolute steal!
Milk prices were quite comparable to what you'd find in many other countries.
Similar to how a liter might cost around ~$2 in some places,
it was roughly **3.5 AUD for 1L** here!
Ready-to-eat items like Gimbap were surprisingly expensive.
Just one roll was priced at 7 AUD,
which felt more than double what you might pay elsewhere for a similar item.
However, if you spot a half-price sticker, it becomes a much more reasonable grab!
A warm, ready-to-eat **roast chicken was 13.75 AUD**,
which I thought was quite a decent price, surprisingly!
It was also quite large, so I decided to pick one up!
Next up is probably what you're most interested in: the meat section!
Just a heads-up, this was the day before Labor Day, so
the selection was pretty limited.
They had beef, pork, and lamb available,
and the meat definitely felt affordable.
For **pork belly, it was 1.8 AUD per 100g,**
**and beef was around 3 AUD**, which felt very reasonable.
The most popular cuts were mostly sold out,
and only a few **meat items priced at 15 AUD for two** were left.
Two lamb leg steaks and
two beef pepper steaks for a total of
15 AUD? I thought that was incredibly cheap!
I grabbed these two for dinner,
and I'll tell you how they tasted at the end!
**Bread and tortilla options** weren't expensive either.
Five bagels for 4-6 AUD wasn't much different
from ready-made bread back home.
Tortillas are great with meat and veggies,
so I definitely recommend them!
Frozen foods weren't particularly cheap,
costing around 7 EUR per serving.
If it's the same price, I honestly think buying
fresh meat is a better option!
More than anything else, water is really expensive in Australia.
A 500ml bottle of water costs about ~$1-2, so
we just drank tap water.
If you don't like expensive water, I recommend
bringing your own bottled water from home.
Drinks like Monster Energy or chocolate milk were also
about ~$1 more expensive than back home!
Finally, I'll show you the quality of the beef and
roasted chicken I bought from the supermarket.
Generally, Australia had a lot of lean meat.
(Of course, there are fatty cuts like lamb chops too.)
Both the lamb leg and beef steaks were
cuts with absolutely no marbling.
I tried grilling some meat, but honestly, it wasn't as delicious as I'd hoped.
Since it was the first meat I'd grilled after arriving in Australia,
I might not have quite gotten the hang of grilling it perfectly,
but it definitely wasn't the kind of meat that just melts in your mouth.
Later, I tried grilling other cuts of meat in Sydney,
and boy, did I discover a huge difference depending on the cut!
So, my tip is to head to the supermarket a little earlier to snag the best possible
cuts before they're all gone. You'll thank me later!
Now, the ready-to-eat roast chicken I picked up
was absolutely massive – we couldn't even finish it between the two of us!
Its size was truly enormous.
The leg meat and tenderloin were incredibly soft,
and the meatball inside was surprisingly good.
If you're craving some chicken, you absolutely have to try it!
Woolworths is your go-to spot for all your food and grocery needs.
If you're looking to keep your travel budget in check,
it's an absolute must-visit!
Meat products are especially budget-friendly,
and for snacks and other items, you'll get great value if you focus on the sale items.
Also, among the ready-to-eat meals, the roast chicken
offers an incredible amount of food for its price,
so if you're looking for a serious protein boost, definitely give it a try!
