Often overshadowed by its more famous Australian counterparts, Brisbane sometimes gets an unfair rap as a 'boring' city. But trust us, fellow adventurers, this vibrant Queensland capital is brimming with incredible sights and activities!
Today, we're diving into an epic day trip that will transform your Brisbane visit from 'ho-hum' to 'absolutely unforgettable' – a journey into the stunning nearby rainforests and a magical glow worm experience.
For anyone planning a Brisbane trip, we wholeheartedly recommend a day tour that combines the breathtaking beauty of Springbrook National Park's rainforest and the enchanting glow worms of Tamborine Mountain. If you're looking to immerse yourself in Australia's stunning natural landscapes and unique charm, this tour delivers!

📍 Our first stop was the charming Gallery Walk.
This delightful street stretches for about a 10-minute walk (roughly half a mile) and is packed with eclectic shops – think wine boutiques, unique gift stores, and tempting dessert spots. It's got a wonderful, artsy vibe!
Here are the three shops we highly recommend checking out:
First up is Fudge, a dedicated dessert shop.
They sell various chocolate treats and ice cream, and you can even sample a few. Be warned, though, the atmosphere can make you feel a little obliged to buy if you try a sample!
We opted not to sample but did treat ourselves to a single ice cream. Honestly, the taste was pretty standard.
Our second recommendation is the charming Clock Shop.
The entire store is filled with antique German-style wooden clocks, making it a joy to browse and snap some unique photos. It's truly a feast for the eyes!
However, the prices can be quite steep, so we suggest enjoying the window shopping and photography without feeling pressured to buy!
Finally, don't miss the souvenir shop, offering clothing and various trinkets.
If you're someone who loves collecting memories from your travels, you'll find plenty of magnets, apparel, and unique items to take home!
📍 After exploring the Gallery Walk, we headed to the incredible rainforest within Springbrook National Park.
We were surrounded by colossal trees, some with trunks easily 33 feet (10 meters) in circumference, and others reaching over 33 feet (10 meters) high, stretching for sunlight. It truly felt like stepping into a prehistoric, dinosaur-era landscape!
The sheer scale and unique characteristics of the trees perfectly embodied what you'd expect from a lush, vibrant rainforest.
Some trees had roots that weren't just ordinary, but hundreds of tangled strands, almost giving them an eerie, otherworldly feel.
Our rainforest trek concluded at a refreshing waterfall. We took a few quick photos to commemorate the moment before moving on to our next exciting stop.
During our tour, 📍 the third stop was a breathtaking viewpoint.
We were treated to an expansive vista of lush green fields stretching to the horizon. And as luck would have it, the sun was just beginning to set, painting the sky in a truly picturesque display.
Indeed, many people had spread out blankets, simply soaking in the mesmerizing sunset. Interestingly, we hardly saw any other international tourists there; it seemed to be a hidden gem popular with Japanese visitors and locals alike, which made the experience feel even more authentic and special!
Our final stop was a night trek to 📍 the Glow Worm viewing point. Keep in mind that the visiting times for glow worm spots can vary by season, so it's always good to check!
The area was completely dark, so we relied on our guide's infrared flashlight to navigate. As we reached the end, hundreds of tiny, shimmering blue-green lights began to appear within the pitch-black cave.
Although hard to capture in the photo on the right, each one of those dots was a glow worm. The sight was so ethereal and mysterious that everyone on the tour spontaneously uttered a collective 'Wow!'
Photos simply can't convey the magic of the moment, so we highly recommend seeing it for yourself in person!
※Please note: The specific glow worm spot we visited is no longer part of the tour. Instead, the experience has been updated to include a visit to the Glow Worm Cave, an artificial cave, for viewing. Please keep this in mind when planning your trip!
Our Springbrook and Tamborine Mountain tour during our Brisbane adventure truly elevated our entire travel experience. While downtown Brisbane offered a relaxed urban vibe, these nearby regions allowed us to explore stunning natural wonders and encounter unique creatures like glow worms – experiences you simply can't find just anywhere!

We've been informed that the glowworm spot visited by the article's author is no longer part of the tour. Instead, the viewing course has changed to an artificial cave called 'Glowworm Cave,' so please keep this in mind.
In the national park rainforest, you can see gigantic trees that have grown over 10 meters in circumference and over 10 meters in height. You can also admire trees with unique roots formed by hundreds of strands, and waterfalls with refreshing streams.
