My Hiroshima trip was a 3-night, 4-day adventure, and eager to experience a variety of hotels, I opted for different accommodations each night.

My first night was at Smile Hotel Hiroshima, and the second night was at Quintessa Hotel Hiroshima Kanayamacho, located in the same city area.

While Quintessa Hotel definitely has its drawbacks, its excellent value for money and fantastic breakfast made it a highly satisfying stay.

If you're considering a well-located hotel in Hiroshima city center, this one might be a great option to keep in mind.

Location & Accessibility

Just a 2-3 minute walk from the Kanayamacho tram stop, making its accessibility truly excellent.

Being in the heart of Hiroshima city, it's incredibly convenient for getting around.

The surrounding area boasts fantastic infrastructure, with everything from convenience stores, restaurants, and cafes to bars – you'll find anything you need!

While it has a slight entertainment district vibe, it never felt unsafe at all, and it was fun to explore the area on our way back from dinner at night.

There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to use one of the nearby coin-operated parking lots.

Among the three places we stayed on this trip, this hotel offered the best value for money.

We visited during late March, the cherry blossom season, when all accommodations tend to be pricier, but we booked it for approximately ~$55 including breakfast. (Prices may vary depending on the dates)

Lobby & Check-in

With the feel of a new, clean hotel, the lobby isn't huge, but it has a generally neat and tidy atmosphere.

Personally, I felt the lobby's condition was better than at Smile Hotel.

The staff were also friendly, making the check-in process smooth and comfortable.

Amenities are available for guests to freely take what they need from the lobby, and a wide variety of options were provided.

Standard Double Room Review

The Standard Double Room we booked featured one bed, and felt clean and cozy overall.

The room size was typical for a Japanese business hotel...

With the double bed, there was hardly any extra space, making it a bit inconvenient to fully open a suitcase.

The bathroom is small, but it includes a bathtub.

It's best not to have high expectations for the view. It's essentially a wall view, haha!

There was no cigarette smell, and the soundproofing was decent, allowing us to rest comfortably without noise.

Quintessa Hotel Breakfast: My Honest Take

The Breakfast is This Hotel's True Gem!

We booked a rate that included breakfast, and the cost for both of us combined was only around ~$7! What a steal!

Considering the price, I honestly didn't have huge expectations, but the selection turned out to be quite impressive, and I was thoroughly satisfied.

Breakfast is served buffet-style, and what's fantastic is that instead of a typical Korean or Western spread, the focus is squarely on authentic local Japanese-style dishes.

You'll find Hiroshima-style fried noodles, delectable miso-based dishes, and even local specialties like fried oysters. It truly makes you feel like you've arrived and are experiencing the local culture!

It absolutely hit the spot for my palate.

While heading out for dinner, I spotted a popular beer stand with people lining up right next to our hotel.

I thought we'd stop by on our way back, but it turns out this is a super famous spot that only operates for two hours a day!

It was a slight bummer that it was already closed by the time we returned.

If you're staying at Quintessa Hotel, I highly recommend trying to time your visit to catch it open!

Even after returning, I often find myself reminiscing about the enchanting nightscapes of Hiroshima.

The atmosphere, especially with the trams gliding by, was simply wonderful.
