Qingdao Qipao Photo Shoot Review: Capture Classic China
Forget typical influencer trends! Embrace the timeless elegance of a Qipao photo shoot in Qingdao. Get details on location, booking, and an unforgettable experience.

When traveling to China, many people opt for trendy influencer (wanghong) experiences. But for my trip, I was much more drawn to the timeless elegance of a **Qipao photo shoot**, reminiscent of classic Chinese films!
The price point is incredibly affordable, less than ~$7 for the basic package, making it a perfect budget-friendly activity for your Qingdao adventure.
I'll share everything you need to know, from **how to book, the exact address via Amap (Gaode Map), and my full photo shoot review**!
Amap (Gaode Map) Address

The studio recently moved from its original spot right next to Zhanqiao Pier, so be careful not to follow outdated guides! It's still conveniently close to the pier, though.
You'll find the studio on the **second floor of this building, sharing the space with a restaurant**.
📍Address: Renjialun Personal Artistic Center (ShinanGuangxi Road No.31)
You can either set Amap (Gaode Map) to English and input the address, or simply **click the Amap link below**. I'll also include it in the comments section!

The basic package, which includes the **photo shoot, costume rental, photo editing, and one digital photo**, costs just ~$7 (based on 39.9 CNY). Isn't that an unbelievable deal?
However, be aware that **each additional photo costs ~$7**, and if you choose **6 photos, they offer a discounted rate of ~$32**.
WeChat Booking

You can make a reservation by chatting on WeChat. The great thing about WeChat is that it automatically translates, so you don't need to worry about sending messages in Chinese!

After adding the ID on WeChat, simply inquire about availability for your desired date, time, and number of people.
My Photo Shoot Experience

Since it's on the same floor as a restaurant, I initially wondered if I was in the right place. But once I stepped inside, the atmosphere was surprisingly charming and authentic!

They don't have an overwhelming number of Qipao styles, but there's a decent selection of colors and sizes. I wear a US size 7, and the shoes were a bit big, likely fitting US sizes 7.5 to 8.

You'll need to **prepare your own makeup and hair**. While a full glam look is nice, the excellent photo editing means you don't have to stress too much about it.
I brought a hair stick and a fan as props, but the photographer, seeing my enthusiasm, even brought out a traditional bag for me to use!

For men, the selection is much smaller than for women. However, they do have some nice top and bottom sets, and perhaps because fewer men opt for the shoot, the costumes seemed to be in even better condition.

You change clothes in a small room. A heads-up: the AC only works in this changing room, and ironically, this is the only spot where photos aren't taken! It was quite hot during the shoot. 😭

The photographer was fantastic! The biggest plus was that **they could communicate in English**, which made everything so much easier. Throughout the shoot, they provided **detailed coaching for every pose** — eyes, hands, feet — making it smooth even for someone like me who's not naturally good at posing.

The shooting time isn't very long. **My solo session took about 20 minutes**.

To give you a glimpse of the edited photos, this is how this spot turned out! ❤️ They show you a variety of options, both color and black and white.

Editing takes about 10-15 minutes, and while you wait, they even offer bread and tea. Even on a warm day, it was hot tea...^^ but it was delicious, so I drank it all!

Once the editing is done, you review the photos to choose which ones to purchase. Honestly, I loved so many of them that I ended up picking quite a few!
I wanted photos with a distinct Chinese vibe but without overly aggressive facial retouching, and they did an incredible job with the editing. ❤️

You can download the photos via WeChat, though the resolution isn't super high-quality.
If your total exceeds ~$145 (200 CNY), they'll even suggest splitting the payment to avoid Alipay fees.
For my Qingdao trip, choosing the Qipao photo shoot over a typical influencer experience was definitely the right call. After visiting the Bùyèchéng (Nightless City), it became clear that a full-blown influencer shoot would be better done in Shanghai.
If you're heading to Qingdao, I highly recommend the Qipao photo shoot!
