📍 No. 813 Huihai Road, Hetao Subdistrict, Chengyang District, Qingdao City
(Gaode Map Link)
If you depart from Qingdao's May Fourth Square,
it takes about 40-50 minutes by taxi and about 1 hour 20 minutes by subway.
I took a taxi for the round trip; it cost 120 CNY on the way there
and 95 CNY on the way back to Qingdao city center.
For the subway, take Line 3 from May Fourth Square Station to Qingdao North Station,
then transfer to Line 8 from Qingdao North Station to Hongdao Station, Exit B.
From there, it's a 10-15 minute walk to Sanhaijian Nightless City.

How to Check Performance Times

If you're eager to catch the main attractions of Sanhaijian Nightless City, the Mermaid Show and Tumbler Show,
you might find differing operating hours on various blogs,
so to save you the frustration, here's how to check the official performance times!
First, you'll need WeChat, an essential app for traveling in China.

Search for 明月山海间不夜城 in the search bar
(I've included it in the comments for easy copying!)
and find the official account.

Once you're on the official Sanhaijian Nightless City account,
you'll see a schedule labeled as 'Performance Schedule'.
I visited in July, but the updates aren't very fast,
so there was only a June schedule, not a July one.

It was originally in Chinese, so I translated it using GPT.
The Mermaid Show happens so often, you simply can't miss it!
But for the Roly-Poly Show, you'll need to time your visit just right.
The timetable I've shared is based on June, so
you'll want to search directly on WeChat for the latest version!
Inside the Nightless City

I arrived around 6:30 PM,
and since it wasn't completely dark yet, I started with the performances near the entrance.
To reach the main performance area, you'll need to walk about 5 more minutes after entering through the ticket gate.
From motorcycle stunts and circus acts to traditional performances and more,
there's truly so much to see here!

Traditional performances take place on a concert-like stage in the center,
and while it was hard to understand since it was all in Chinese,
watching the fire show and robot dance was quite entertaining!

You'll know you've found the main entrance when you see a dazzling display that just screams, "This is it!"
Just head through there, it's located after passing a big road.

Once darkness falls, the atmosphere truly comes alive!
It's incredibly dazzling and absolutely brimming with that vibrant Chinese flair!😮
Qingdao, you never disappoint..!

There are plenty of stairs leading up to the second floor,
and taking photos from up there gives you much better shots than from the first floor.
I didn't spot any professional snap photographers, everyone seemed to be taking their own photos.
So, for any aspiring influencers out there, take note!

Also, I heard that influencers absolutely must go to the entrance area
, specifically to the signboard with lots of characters, for their shoots.
Apparently, your makeup looks terrible elsewhere;;
As I walked around, I noticed this spot indeed had the most people.
The Mermaid Show

The Mermaid Show takes place in a plaza-like area near the entrance,
and I noticed most of the audience were Korean tourists.
It seems many visitors came as part of a tour group.
People start gathering 20 to 30 minutes before the show begins,
so if you want a good spot up close, be sure to get there early!
The performance itself is quite similar to what you might see at an aquarium in Korea.
The Roly-Poly Show

The Roly-Poly Show is just as popular as the Mermaid Show!
Likewise, people start gathering 20 to 30 minutes before it begins.

Performers climb onto a round pedestal,
and lean their bodies forward, backward, and side to side.
They even make heart gestures for the audience and reach out to interact with them.
Normally, two people perform, but on this particular day, there was only one,
so if you couldn't grab a front-row spot, you pretty much only saw their backs.

Beyond the shows, there are also free rides like a mini Viking ship, carousel, and bumper cars,
and a variety of other performances, making it a great place to explore.
It's also a fantastic place to visit with kids!

It's true that it's a bit of a trek from the city center and there's an admission fee now, which might make you hesitate. But, personally, if you factor in both the stunning night views and all the performances, I truly believe it's a worthwhile place to experience at least once!
Instead of just catching the mermaid show and heading out, I highly recommend checking the official schedule in advance. If you can catch the traditional performances and the adorable 'Ottogi' (Roly-Poly) show as well, I guarantee your experience will be even more fulfilling!
