Hey there, fellow travelers! It's Eunsu here, and if you're anything like me, a trip to Qingdao absolutely means a mandatory stop at the iconic Qingdao Beer Museum, right?
But let's be real, a full day of sightseeing means tired feet and tense shoulders. My absolute go-to remedy? A fantastic massage nearby, of course!
Today, I'm excited to share my honest review of Xiaoshi Xianting Zudao Yangsheng (小室·闲庭足道养生) at Haiboyuan, a place I discovered after wrapping up my Beer Museum visit.

1. Location & How to Get There

📍Amap (Gaode Maps)
The specific branch I visited is Xiaoshi Xianting Zudao Yangsheng (小室·闲庭足道养生) at Haiboyuan.
This location is in the Haiboyuan area of the Taidong commercial district, a convenient 5-10 minute Didi taxi ride (approximately 1-3 miles) from the Qingdao Beer Museum.
2. Booking & Pricing

Instead of simply walking in, I opted to book my appointment in advance using the DaZhong DianPing (大众点评) app. This was a smart move!
While walk-ins are welcome, booking through the app offered a fantastic special discount, bringing the 80-minute course down from 188 Chinese Yuan (approximately ~$27) to just 138 Chinese Yuan (approximately ~$20) – a savings of 50 Chinese Yuan (approximately ~$7)!

The app allows you to select your preferred time slot and, with its translation feature, you can even see the breakdown of each massage course, including which body parts are focused on and for how long. This transparency built a lot of trust even before my visit.

For those who might find Chinese apps a bit tricky, walk-ins are definitely an option, but do keep in mind the price will be slightly higher.

To make things easier, I've included an image with the prices translated into English. Even without the app discount, a 60-minute foot massage for around ~$19 is still a fantastic deal for a walk-in!
3. Ambiance & Massage Experience Review

The massage parlor is located on the second floor. Just head up the stairs from the ground floor, and you'll find the entrance right there.

Upon arrival, friendly staff members greeted us at the desk. If you've booked via DaZhong DianPing, simply show your voucher. For walk-ins, Google Translate (or Papago) can help you communicate and check availability.

We even spotted the shop's adorable cat mascot! The interior itself was clean and had a charming, classic aesthetic.

First, we took a seat and changed into indoor slippers, with the staff conveniently storing our shoes in a locker.

After changing, we received our room key and headed to our massage room.

Before our massage, we were offered a selection of beverages. Not knowing what to pick, I just went for something that looked like water.

Turns out, it was a refreshing sports drink!

The massage room was surprisingly spacious. Given that it's a popular spot frequented by locals, I was impressed by how well-organized and systematic their operations felt.

Since there were two of us, we were assigned a private two-person room. Towels and massage attire were already laid out and ready for us.

There was even a projector for movies, TV shows, or music, though operating it proved a little challenging for us.

On the central table, we found some snacks, along with remotes for both the air conditioner and the projector.

The massage attire consisted of a short-sleeved top and shorts. After changing, we called our therapists, who were waiting outside and promptly entered the room.

They had a good range of sizes too, accommodating body types up to 175-200 pounds (80-90 kg).

After a quick photo, our therapists began the session. I found it fascinating how the massage chairs in China automatically adjust, almost like transformers!

Since we booked through the app, our 80-minute foot and full-body massage course was only 138 Chinese Yuan (approximately ~$20).
The experience began with a soothing foot soak in warm water, followed by a relaxing foot massage. The full-body sequence then moved from face to head, shoulders, arms, legs, back to shoulders, then waist, thighs, and finally, calves.

With some relaxing music playing in the background, I thoroughly enjoyed the session. It truly felt like the distinctive touch of Chinese massage offers a different, perhaps more robust, experience compared to Southeast Asian massages.
4. Who Is This Massage Spot For?
Travelers who want to relieve tired feet and shoulders right after visiting the Qingdao Beer Museum, thanks to its convenient nearby location.
Anyone looking for a high-quality massage at an unbeatable, budget-friendly price, especially with app discounts.
Those curious to experience authentic Chinese massage techniques, which offer a unique and effective touch different from Southeast Asian styles.
