My friends and I recently took a quick 1-night trip to Qingdao, and instead of booking separate rooms, we opted for an apartment-style stay. We found a fantastic place with a shared living room and two separate bedrooms, which was perfect for our group of four. The room was incredibly spacious and clean, so much so that I'm already planning to bring my family here for our next vacation!

When I stayed, a 1-night stay for 4 people was in the low ~$150s.

This time, checking Trip.com for weekend rates in 2026, the price for 4 people was ~$128. Divided among four, that's under ~$37 per person!

Trip.com is definitely a go-to for affordable hotel bookings in China, often listing properties not found on other sites.

Qingdao Hotel Location: May Fourth Square Area is Best

The walking times are based on our own routes. Being close to Qingdao's main attractions and shopping malls made it ideal for our short trip with friends.

We arrived at the apartment around 11 AM and were delighted that our room was ready, allowing us to check in early.

While early check-in isn't guaranteed, it's always worth asking upon arrival. They also offered free luggage storage before and after check-in, which was a huge plus.

We communicated with the staff using a translation app for check-in, and we could also reach them 24/7 via WeChat. So, even if you don't speak Chinese, communication is no problem at all!

For food delivery, a robot conveniently brought our orders from the lobby right to our room.

Two Bedrooms, Two Bathrooms

The room we stayed in was approximately 1270 square feet, featuring two separate bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. To get this size for under ~$150 on a weekend night? Absolutely incredible value!

With separate bedrooms and two bathrooms, this was the perfect Qingdao accommodation for our group of four. We couldn't have been happier.

Initially, I was a little disappointed not to be on a higher floor, but once inside, the stunning views of May Fourth Square through the floor-to-ceiling windows completely changed my mind. It was truly magnificent!

In the evenings, we enjoyed the city lights from the living room. It was wonderful to have a comfortable space where all four of us could gather and enjoy late-night snacks together.

We were provided with seven bottles of water and slippers for everyone in our group. If we needed extra towels, we could simply request them via WeChat.

When traveling with friends, we usually book two separate rooms or an Airbnb. But in Qingdao, having a spacious apartment where we could all hang out until late at night, chatting and enjoying our trip together, made the experience so much better.
