Qingdao Beer Museum Ticket Booking
For your Qingdao trip, the Qingdao Beer Museum is a place I highly recommend visiting, where you can explore the over 100-year history of Qingdao Beer.
Beyond just touring the museum, you can also enjoy tasting authentic Qingdao draft beer, so if you love beer or are planning a trip, it's definitely a place worth visiting at least once.
1. How to Book Qingdao Beer Museum Tickets

The Qingdao Beer Museum is one of the most popular attractions, even for local residents in China.
That's why booking in advance is a must! On-site purchases on the day of your visit are highly likely to be sold out. So, I highly recommend booking before you arrive.

The most common ticket price is ~$9.
This ticket includes admission to Beer Museum Halls A and B, plus a tasting of authentic draft beer (Wonjangmaekju), pure draft beer (Sunsaengmaekju), and a bag of peanuts.

Additionally, there's a ticket that includes museum admission, a Korean-language explanation (guide), and unlimited beer at a designated bar in the city center. This ticket costs ~$15.
I entered with this ticket, and having a Korean-speaking guide explain the history of Qingdao Beer and getting to drink unlimited beer at the beer shop made this ticket surprisingly advantageous!

What's more, with a regular ticket, even if you book in advance, you might still wait in line for about 20 minutes to enter.

However, with the ticket that includes a guide, after meeting your guide right at the main entrance, you can enter directly, which makes it much more convenient!

2. Guided Tour

You'll meet your guide at the designated meeting point at the specified time.
If you can't find your guide, simply tell one of the staff members at the front that you're here for the guided tour.
The guided tour takes approximately one hour.

The Qingdao Beer Museum is divided into two halls: Hall A and Hall B.
In Hall A, you can discover the origins and history of Qingdao Beer, while Hall B shows you the brewing process.
In Hall B, you can taste authentic draft beer (Wonjangmaekju) and pure draft beer (Sunsaengmaekju)...
You can enjoy a tasting!

Now, when it comes to the Qingdao Beer Museum,
it was built during the colonial era in 1903,
with capital from Germany and Britain.
A beer factory was established then,
and to commemorate its 100th anniversary,
it was transformed into a museum in 2003.
Isn't that fascinating?

In Exhibition Hall A, you can dive into Qingdao Beer's
century-long history, vintage advertisements,
and even see old bottle packaging! It's all charmingly displayed, with plenty to see.
Our guide gave such excellent explanations,
sharing unknown historical facts and fun stories,
which made the experience even more memorable! 😊

In Exhibition Hall B, you can witness how beer
is actually made, with real equipment
that was once used in the brewing process.
3. Free Tasting of Original Draft Beer!

As you follow the route through Exhibition Hall B,
you'll discover the tasting area.
This first stop is where you can get a taste of
the original draft beer and some peanuts to go with it!

This original draft beer hasn't gone through any filtering or pasteurization,
it's freshly brewed raw beer!
It has a short shelf life, typically only about a week.
That's why it's one of those special beers
that's hard to try unless you're right here in Qingdao!

They don't give you a huge amount for tasting,
about 150ml, which felt just right.
And the peanuts were absolutely delicious too! 😋

At the very end, you'll find a souvenir shop
selling all sorts of amazing merchandise.
From the original draft beer you just tasted,
to strawberry beer, mala-flavored beer, mayonnaise-flavored beer, and more –
there are so many unique beers to discover!
These are all special brews you can only get right here in Qingdao,
making them perfect souvenirs to take home.
I highly recommend grabbing some!
If you're looking to buy some beer to bring back to Korea (or anywhere!),
this is definitely the place to shop!
They have all the unique beers you won't find in nearby supermarkets.

Beyond just beer,
there are quite a few great shopping items
perfect for gifts, like beer glasses, openers, and soap,
so make sure to take a look around! 😉

Finally,
you can enjoy an additional glass
of refreshing Tsingtao draft beer.
Without a doubt, the most delicious was the original brew
I first tasted – it was incredibly smooth
and flavorful! 😉

Here, beyond just the tasting beer,
you can purchase and enjoy draft beers
that you can only taste right here in Qingdao,
such as the original brew, dark beer, and even strawberry beer!
They also sell snacks and have seating,
so you can relax and enjoy yourself before heading off.
4. Unlimited Beer Refills at Designated City Bars

What's more, you can enjoy unlimited draft beer
at one of the four designated Tsingtao 1903 bars.
Just show your barcode before ordering and mention
you're here for the unlimited draft beer. The branch
closest to May Fourth Square is the second Tsingtao Beer Bar.

Besides the unlimited
draft beer, they also offer a wide variety of other beers.
And the snacks are quite affordable too!

Once your barcode is confirmed,
a staff member will bring your unlimited draft beer to you.
You can order snacks separately, but please,
whatever you do, avoid the lamb skewers...
They were absolutely terrible and ruined my appetite! 😥
5. Wrapping Up

I highly recommend the Beer Museum
as a must-visit spot in Qingdao! 😊
It's not only a representative tourist attraction in Qingdao,
but it's also much more enjoyable to explore with a guide's explanation
than just walking around with a regular admission ticket,
so I definitely recommend taking a guided tour.
