A must-visit attraction for any trip to Qingdao:
The Tsingtao Beer Museum!
Here, you can delve into the fascinating history and brewing process of Tsingtao Beer,
and the best part? You even get to sample two glasses of fresh draft beer at the end!
From admission fees and what to prepare, to booking methods and navigating the queues,
I'll share all the detailed insights you need to know.
Location

📍56-1 Dengzhou Road, Shibei District, Qingdao City, Shandong Province
It's just a 7-9 minute walk from Lijinlu Station on the subway,
or about a 10-minute walk from Taidong Station.
Being close to the Taidong Night Market,
it's a perfect idea to visit the museum first,
then head over to the night market for a fantastic evening!
Admission Fees

According to the official website,
a standard adult admission ticket costs 60 CNY per person.
(This Double Hall ticket includes access to Halls A and B, two glasses of beer, and peanuts.)
The official WeChat account is entirely in Chinese,
and entering real-name information and making payments can be a bit cumbersome.
That's why I opted for a booking site that allowed me to enter my passport details in advance and purchase tickets easily.

May 1st - June 30th | 08:00~18:30 | 17:30 |

November 1st - December 31st | 08:30~17:30 | 16:30 |
When booking, you'll need to select not just the date,
but also your preferred entry time slot.
It's generally said that times before 10 AM or after 4 PM are less crowded,
so I recommend booking for these slots for a more relaxed visit.
For entry, you'll need either your reservation QR code
or the identification document you used for booking.
Make sure to bring your passport!
The Queue

Just because you've made a reservation for the Tsingtao Beer Museum
doesn't mean you'll walk straight in.
Waiting in line is still a must.
The queue was quite long; this photo was taken around 4:30 PM.
When I arrived at 3:30 PM, the line was about five times longer than this! 😭

Even with selecting an entry time during booking,
and having queues organized by time slots, there are still so many people.
It's safe to assume that same-day on-site ticket purchases are virtually impossible.

Once you enter, the line splits into two.
Since we have passports, you'll want to join the left-hand queue, line number 2.
Then, simply scan your passport at the machine – no QR code needed.
Inside the Beer Museum

There are several photo zones inside,
but honestly, I'm not sure how pretty they are.. haha

The Tsingtao Beer Museum is largely
divided into Hall A and Hall B.
You'll see the path to Hall A right next to the photo zones.
Since the interior is narrow, once a certain number of people fill up,
they'll make you wait before letting you in.

In Hall A, you can discover the background of how Tsingtao Beer was made,
as well as logos, advertisements, and bottle designs from different eras.
Beyond the common green bottles seen in Korea,
a variety of packaging used in the past is also on display.
Honestly, there wasn't much else to see in Hall A besides this.

Just a short walk from Hall A, you'll find Hall B.
This is also where you can enjoy beer tasting!

You'll need to scan your passport here once more.

Hall B is the space where you can witness the actual beer brewing process
and see vintage brewing equipment.
It's not just a factory-themed exhibit;
it's built around the original factory building used since 1903
and preserves actual brewing facilities.

From the process of making beer using malt and hops,
all the way to fermentation, bottling, and packaging, it's a fascinating journey.
There was definitely more to see here than in Hall A!
Beer Tasting

Your basic admission ticket includes two beer tastings.
The first one, found halfway through Hall B, is
Original Draft Beer with Peanuts.
Original Draft Beer is a fresh beer that minimizes pasteurization
and long-term distribution processes,
so it tasted smoother and richer than regular bottled beer.

As you continue your tour, you'll eventually reach
a tasting area designed like a large pub at the end.
Here, you can get your second tasting of Pure Draft Beer.

There are also several paid beer taps upfront,
so it might be easy to confuse with where you get your free samples.
Make sure to get the beer included with your ticket first,
then you can purchase more if you wish to drink beyond that.
Personally, I found the Original Draft Beer I had in the middle
to be much fresher and smoother than the final Pure Draft Beer.
It was simply delicious!

Finally, you'll reach the merchandise shop and the exit.
From beer glasses, fridge magnets, and bottle openers,
to beer chocolates and limited-edition brews, there's a wide variety of items.
It was really fun browsing for souvenirs!
✔️Perfect for those exploring Qingdao for the very first time
✔️And for all you beer lovers or anyone keen on brewery tours
✔️Or if you're looking for a brilliant indoor spot on a rainy day!
this place comes highly recommended!
Given how popular this spot is with travelers, instead of buying tickets on the spot,
it's super smart to reserve your visit date and time ahead of time
and head there early in the morning for the most comfortable experience!
